Although we only stayed for one night on a stopover we would definitely recommend the Dolphin. Located right in the town centre overlooking the harbour with car parking approx 150 metres away. Great service, spotlessly clean, friendly staff and a great breakfast!

Ideal location, great view and excellent full English breakfast, room 6 was a large room at the very top, let down by a musty/ drain smell and noise from some kind of water heater during the night. Pub served a decent pint and nice food.

This hotel is in a fabulous location right in the heart of town. The rooms are recently updated I think and are comfortable. The main areas are very dated. Could do with new flooring and seating. The service at breakfast was good as was breakfast itself. Get some smoked lip person the menu. This hotel gets very busy and there...

Fantastic location. Great bustle in the bar area. Breakfast was very filling. Room was nice but did have room for improvement. Room with a view but had to look through bird dirt to get the view and the wardrobe smelt of vomit. But saying that we didn't spend that much time in the room and these are 2 minor issues...

Just returned from three nights at The Dolphin. Checked in an hour early by friendly man on the bar. Shown to a clean and modern room 5 on second floor (no sea view)with big comfy bed, large wall TV, clean modern bathroom with shower, walk in closet, heating and some original features. (Fireplace). Nice touches were good toiletries, white fluffy...

Absolutely disgusting. Dirty and smelly in all rooms can't describe the smell. The staff were rude . It's a shame as in such a beautiful setting and everywhere else in Whitby is so polite and beautiful

The room was very nice, the view over the river and town beyond was lovely and the location was very central to the town and amenities. Breakfast time was very disappointing, bordering on Fawlty Towers and the food wasn't very good either. At £110 for a deluxe double room I would have expected better. Saying that, I would stay there...
