1 night stay over. Wanted something budget. Read reviews of other cheaper 'hotels' - not good. This YHA gets rave reviews as it should. It is budget so dont expect frills. Clean room, ok single beds. Two of us had a room with 4 beds for £39! Free entrance to the Abbey a bonus too. Cant argue with that. Staff... More

Easy booking, excellent staff on reception. We had two private en suite quad rooms next door to each other. Very clean and had exactly what we needed. Comfy (firm) beds with lovely view over the harbour. Staff were't bothered that we were a hen party, and even offered to take photos out in the gardens. Different chap on reception in... More

It was my first time in a youth hostel and I'll certainly do it again. Friendly staff, and friendly other people - nice area to cook if you want and hot drinks easily and areas to store your food. Remember to ask at reception for your free Abbey entrance that you get for staying there.

I was told years ago that Youth Hostels provide two good things: basic but clean accommodation, and if they have a restaurant, a decent breakfast to set you up for the day. Whitby YHA provided both, and had the added bonus of some amazing views. The staff were lovely, the food was good and reasonably priced (especially breakfast!), it stands... More

Only one night here while touring the UK, extremely popular it is difficult to book specific dates but well worth the trouble.Ample private parking is available through the English Heritage Abbey visitor centre courtyard giving an air of grandeur passing beneath the monastic site was a unique experience. Our room was clean, comfortable and furnished in usual YHA fashion, but... More

I recently stayed in the yha whitby again after competing in the Seascale to whitby cycle challenge in a day with a group of friends, and once again at the end of 150 miles on the bike the room was excellent, a great shower and a clean and comfy bed. The following morning there was a very good full English... More

We visited here. Beautiful 16th century building outside. Inside was a bit of a shock as I hadn't stayed in a hostel before. It was basic. Spotless clean. Beds were comfortable and clean. In the morning you can purchase cooked breakfast although we only had coffee but breakfast looked ample. I would definatly stay here again

Sat in this comfortable coffee house. Coffee is strong and hot, scone and butter with jam very tasty and service with a smile. Clean and light area. Fantastic views. Worth the walk up the abbey steps ( or car ride if needed). Would recommend for every visitor. Good value for money. A lot less than the coffee shops in the... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Its excellent to read that you had such a good time in our tea room. It's a much needed pit stop for a lot of people after getting up the 199 steps and with coffee and a piece of cake at £3 it's excellent value! We hope to see... More

This is a fantastic place to visit. The building, the staff, everything was what is needed for a great break. The location next to the abbey is fantastic and the views of whitby from this location are spectacular.

This hostel is situated right night to Whitby Abbey, it seems quite popular for large school groups because of large rooms that can be hired out for use. There is a lovely conservatory and seating area which looks out onto the garden and the dining area has stunning views over Whitby. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and they... More
