I stayed here with my dad under the understanding that there was no other rooms available, so the only option was to share a room with my dad which I was reluctant about but she assured me that the room would be spacious enough for the both of use! when we arrived the place was totally not what we expected,... This is the second time the Wife and I have stayed at the GROVE and we weren't disappointed on this occasion like the previous stay the service, Cleanliness and food were second to none. Both the Wife and myself are in poor health and the landlady even drove us to the train station I would normally drive but i broke... More

Rather a lot of steps to entrance of hotel. Very comfortable stay, good breakfast. Room was clean with a king size bed and a single bed. Tea making facilities in room. Room was very warm even though weather was not. Shower and ensuite ok. Would go back.

Visited here for a weekend in Whitby with friends, we were greeted with a friendly welcome on arrival and shown to our rooms which were clean and comfortable and lovely and warm. The hotel is nicely located in a fairly quiet area opposite the park and only a five minute walk from the harbour.Breakfast was really good plenty of choice... More

Reasonable but room 7 is tiny! Shower too weak and rooms tiny. Had to ask for central heating to be switched on cos it was cold. Hey ho! Right up on the top floor, looking out the back and could hear people in neighbouring rooms. Better than being able to get in anywhere though and the breakfast was good

Obviously heat should be available with the option of turning it down or opening windows etc. Shouldn't have to sleep with our wooly hats on. Saving the planet is one thing but you don't have to freeze the punters in the process.Mentioned the cold snap on the first night and our host agreed, only to put the heating on sporadicalily... My wife ad I stayed at The Grove for 3 nights and used it as a base for a few days walking. The wifi did not work for the duration of our stay which was a negative. However the room, whilst small, was clean and the bed was comfortable. The location is great less than 10 minutes walk away from... More
