A decent open plan bar with a good selection of beers. Popular with locals and biker lads and lasses that all added to the mix lending a good atmosphere to the place. Not a great deal of seating downstairs but additional room upstairs with a cracking view over the harbour. Staff friendly and efficient and the place is dog friendly... More

We went here during Folk week. Even though busy, we were made very welcome. Refurbishment of the property is good. There were people upstairs playing instruments and singing. All were invited to join in. Well worth a visit.

I visited the middle earth tavern this weekend and what a lovely place, friendly staff and drinks were reasonably priced. They have a lovely seating area outside to chill out and watch the world go by. Well worth a visit

Contrary to previous reviews, this is no longer a dive! After an extensive refurbishment they have brought it up to a good standard for a public house. No B &B at the moment and sadly no karaoke.Although we only called in for a drink, would recommend a visit if you are passing. Bar Staff friendly, give it a whirl!

I have been for a drink in this tavern before and have found it very nice with a very friendly atmosphere, so when I needed a B&B for a night for myself and my 11 year old grand daughter I didn't hesitate to book a room. Our room was clean and over looked the harbour but the room and bedding... More

We stayed here after nearly being blown away in our tent. The b&bs up the road were £80+ and had few had any parking. This is a very basic place, but I think that is reflected in the price. I cant lie to you......the decor was pretty grim, you dont often see a burgandy bathroom sink! However the room was... More

We arrived in Whitby on 31st August to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, we didn't book anywhere to stay before we got there so middle earth tavern was all that was left. Staff were friendly and welcoming, room was £60 for double bed and breakfast. Corridor had a musty pub smell about it but side door access was a bonus,... More

My wife and I stayed for two nights having found the place by chance when looking for a drink in May. This is a very friendly pub and the staff are very keen to help in any way. Very little noise after bar closes at 11pm. Terrific views over harbour. Rooms are very basic but clean and comfortable. Reasonably good... More

I've stayed here a few times, first off the breakfast's are delicious and delivered to the table quickly and also the service at the bar is perfect. Onto the accommodation the rooms are not the best, the musty smell from the hallway/stairs is a bit off putting,as is the decor,I suppose at the price its cheap next time I'll be elsewhere though....
