For the second time in 3 visits we were served cold food. For this there is no excuse, how can you serve cold veg and cold mash. The beef pie turned out to be mince, this plus the lamb pie were barely warm. The ladies had rack of lamb that turned out to be unchewable, uncuttable and utterly tasteless. One... More

The dog loved it and so did I. For supper the dog had biscuits and I had the 'Settle' pie, rejected the mash and had the chips. Ooo,it was good. Gave me a rosy glow of happiness. Mind you, they have been doing it for nearly 400 years, so should have got it right by now. Time not wasted.

Met friends for lunch and it was spot on. Good variety of meals on offer and huge portions. You won't need anything for the rest of the day! Staff were attentive, beautiful decor and decent sized tables, too. A lovely afternoon catching up in a relaxing environment.. We'll be back!

Lovely place to stay in Settle, just a short walk away from the famous settle Carlisle railway. The rooms are refurbished to a high standard with lots of lovely touches to make our stay enjoyable, good breakfast and evening meal in the pub downstairs, would definitely return.

We were a group of 40+ males doing a few days cycling around this area. The town of settle is very nice, with a generous amount of bars, restaurants and a wide variety of shops - for such a small place. We spent our two nights in the lion Inn and we had a lovely, hassle free time from beginning... More

Very good quality food only with a reasonable choice of dishes. Fantastic choice of real ales. Very nice surroundings. Staff were very friendly and not overly attentive. We were staying locally in a cottage but actually came away thinking that we will use the Lion as a short break hotel at some point in the future.

Quite a grand pub, very spacious and well maintained. The food was not really expensive, home cooked and delicious with huge portions to satisfy the hungriest of people. Served quickly by pleasant staff. A third of the pub set out for formal dining or you could just sit within the bar area as we did to eat your dinner. Wifi... More

We visited this restaurant after a gap of quite a few years. The food then was good, solid food, served in a solid, old fashioned room. Now the food is excellent - modern, tasty and light and the hotel/restaurant has also been transformed into a bright, open space. Our meals were really enjoyable. Service was very good - we were... We stayed at the Lion with our parents for their 80th Birthday weekend. We had rooms 11 and 14. Room 14 was great, it was big and had plenty of space as well as a double bed and a double sofa bed. Room 11 however, was quite small and took a bit of organising and keeping out of the way... More
