Ok, the only reason I have gave it 1 star is that it has free parking. The room itself had not been updated from the 80s,carpets was pure filthy, I had a ground floor room overlooking the car park that had no privacy at all, I mean really how much would a net cost!. The beds mattress had a spring in the middle of the bed sticking up so had to sleep at an angle. The sheets on the bed was clean but the room itself had a damp smell to it. I had to stop here for work years ago and it really if anything got worse and I had no option but to stay again. Really if you can avoid I would, breakfast was ok , pure fry up and no option for fruit that I could see.

Lovely friendly staff however not best skilled to deal with issues. We stayed for two nights to visit family. The first room had stains on the carpet which seemed like vomit. Skirting boards and shower dial filthy. The paint was peeling from the radiator. Changed to a second room on same floor which was still tired and grubby, a dirty towel had been left on the floor from previous guest. In the end I purchased cleaning wipes and did my own cleaning. Pool was lovely as was the reception area of the hotel. Lockers in changing rooms did not work so everyone left their belongings at the side of the pool. Even though the hotel was busy had a good night's sleep, it was very quiet. Hotel advertisers rooms for contractors. Couldn't add the photo of the big stain as it's saying photo too large.

Stayed at The Sporting Lodge Inn for 3 nights with my girlfriend as a base for North Yorkshire. We paid for 3 days of breakfast also. The hotel is quite dated but is more than comfortable for the price you pay. I looked at a few reviews and when I arrived I just thought the people who write bad reviews have nothing better to do! Breakfast was ok, I've had better but more than filled us for the day ahead. Had to fill out an order form and then your breakfast is ready for you the next morning. I really enjoyed the free use of the swimming pool and also the hot tub. It would seem this is not just for hotel guests and looks like members have use too so best to check when its busy if you want a quiet swim or sauna. The room was ok but like I said earlier quite dated. I would say on booking if you're a couple ask for a king size bed as we had a double and got really hot in the night ( and not in that way lol) as the rooms don't have air conditioning. We went to the local supermarket to get some bits and for £5 deposit I was able to get a couple of plates and some glasses for our snacks and drinks. On our last night we ate at the hotel, I had the steak and it was beautiful and cooked to my exact liking. My girlfriend got the surf n turf and she also said it was beautiful and reasonably priced. The hotel also has a large function room and looks like they get regular events which can be noisy until late but they put notices up to warn guests. Staff all very friendly and cleaners are around every day and very helpful.

There was a large car park and we were able to park our motorcycle not far from the main doors, reception staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant attached to the hotel was not the cleanest of places, it took a while for our table to be cleaned after we were shown to it by a member of staff as it had been reserved. The evening meal was nice. The cold items at breakfast were as they should have been, Cold. The hot items for breakfast even though they were from a plate were also cold and when we pointed this out, we were told it would be sorted and replaced, after 15 minutes we were still waiting and heard other people complaining about the same thing, we left.
