After reading various reviews I did not want to believe that staff at this venue was actually very rude and mannerless but after talking to ALEX at the reception I understood why everyone feels some type of way. On my first day of booking I have been mistreated and talked upon to as an intruder by “mannerless staff”. It’s beyond me that a place like this would even have someone like that working in the premises but that’s normal according to the policy of the place.

I wouldn't stay here again. The hostel is unclean, the mattresses are plastic and so loud when you move. Check in not until 3pm and they charged to leave luggage. A lady in my room had a horrific cough but had clearly been allowed to check in and infect us all with Covid/flu/cold. Right next to my bed was a dodgy plug socket (see photo). Unsafe. I've travelled solo around the world and rarely feel unsafe but I didn't feel comfortable walking from the tube station to this hostel. A long narrow passage (about 10 mins+) is between the two and it felt like if something happened it's a long run to get help. On the plus side it's next to beautiful Holland Park which although is getting some work done is lovely.

I haven’t stayed in a hostel with my kids before and was a little anxious to be honest but there was no need at all. Staff here were super friendly, helpful and welcoming to us all. The area feels really safe and security is great. We had a shared bathroom which was as expected and fine but our friends had an en suite which was lovely and I’d probably opt for if available as my 12 year old wasn’t keen on sharing. Value for money was incredible, beds and linen comfy and fine. Towels provided which I wasn’t expecting as well as tea and coffee making facilities in our room which was great. We had a four bed room. A really mixed bunch of travellers staying, all ages. All in all a brilliant stay.

My daughter booked here with friends. They left after less than 2 hours - firstly, they were not given the 6 person room booked, they were put in a room for 15. Then a group of rats appeared in the room . They packed up and moved up a hotel. The location was good.

This is a very good hostel. My room was clean, with good quality linen and duvet. There were curtains around the bunk, a light and charge point also a secure place to store bags/luggage. The bathroom was contemporary, and very clean. The common areas were, again, very well kept. Staff were busy but polite. It does what is says on the tin and offers a safe stay, whilst feeling very international and contemporary. I like it here and have stayed quite a few times now over the years. It is a fab location too.

After reading the reviews for this place I can’t say I had high expectations but to be fair Safestay Kensington & Holland Park has restored my faith in hostels of this nature. This was my third experience of a hostel and can confirm it was my fave one so far.. good to see a hostel with some life & soul. could some improvements to the fabric of the building me made? Probably. For example uneven surfaces could make it difficult for people with accessibility issues. But are the staff on hand when needed? Yes. Are they polite? Yes. I do think that staff need to get out from behind the desk a bit more but that’s my opinion. I observed members of staff, sat chatting about personal stuff yet the restaurant and outside eating area was covered in cups, plates & rubbish later in the evening. Easily sorted with a quick tidy. The communal areas of the hostel were otherwise clean and tidy. Despite some reviews posting pictures of dirty toilets, every bathroom I visited, was very clean with housekeeping on hand in the morning. So don’t let a few negative reviews let u thjnk this place is filthy becaue it’s far from that. It’s a very pleasant building and must take a lot of looking after! So my room was ok. I did ask for a bottom bunk and on arrival realised I had been allocated a top bunk. This was swiftly rectified by a staff member. Unlike others I’ve stayed at the bunks have privacy curtains, they are very comfortable and bedding clean. I did note that the door slammed a lot and whilst I appreciate that door shutting is needed in line with health and safety regs, something should be explored to reduce the bang made, if I had been staying more than one night the door banging would have been an issue. Hopefully I’ve not waffled on too much but again don’t just go by the reviews on this site. I found a clean, inviting building, with attentive staff and purposeful space to get my head down. Excellent transport links and providing you go the right way; extremely easy to get to. Beautiful location! Again This hostel has restored my faith in hostels and when I visit London in the future; I’ll be keeping these guys in mind.

Good points: - pleasing, quiet yet fairly convenient location - aesthetically attractive building Bad points: - chronically understaffed reception - thin walls and poor noise muffling - stingy when trying to make money e.g. selling not renting or simply providing towels and padlocks - door design means that they make noise every time they close, unnecessarily. - the price during my stay was expensive for what it is

Me and my partner stayed here as we had work in London. I don't usually write reviews but felt I had to in this case to warn future customers of the horrors we experienced on our 3 day stay here. Don't get me wrong, the staff were lovely, the building was lovely, and check in was so quick and simple, but this hostel was quite frankly the worst place I've ever stayed. 1) The plugs provided in the rooms didn't work on several occasions, so we couldn't charge our phones half of the time. Many people were sat out in the corridors charging their phones which isn't really great for anyone. 2) I get that the whole deal of shared rooms is that you share with people, but as young travellers being woken up by an argument between 2 older men at 8 in the morning isn't great. I felt quite unsafe after this. 3) Worst of all was how filthy the bathrooms were. I'd literally rather use the toilets and showers at Glastonbury festival than these! 2 nights of showers with little to no pressure at all and toilets full of literal sh*t that wouldn't flush! To top it all off my partner mentioned it to a member of staff and his only solution was to "not use the bathrooms". Really? Considering I've paid over £60 for a 3 night stay this is not acceptable, what do you want us do to? P*ss and sh*t outside? Not great at all. We had to move to different accommodation. I've written 3 emails to their reception over the last month for a full refund and I've had no reply. Avoid this place like the plague.

Only the location is worth it, right inside Holland Park! Rooms are disgusting dirty! 4 bed sharing bunk bed of course paid 50£ f...k sterling x night they don't supply nothing! not even a small wardrobe, you have to keep everything close in your luggage, the room of 4 beds is super small the size of a toilet you can't even open you big luggage on the floor. Toilet..... no comment! They are All dirty dirty dirty and mostly all the shower heads are broken. The Room with 6 beds awful!!! Is better if you sleep on the bench in Holland Park! Customers?? you MUST KEEP you eyes open and have everything closed, NO ONE IS GOOD, at night time is full of rough sleepers, drug dealer all kind of the most awkward people none are paying!! Do Not Book here YOU CAN FIND HOTELS AT THE SAME PRICE. Do not even think of reply to my review! You only need to close down!
