The hotel itself looks and feels just like a rather grand, 300-year-old town house, complete with richly furnished drawing room, library, parlour and courtyard garden. Our characterful bedrooms are all furnished with genuine antiques and named after real people who lived in the area. Our bathrooms all have period fittings, refurbished, of course, to modern standards of efficiency.

Look at the photos - they don't do it justice. The whole hotel is, well, beautiful. It's like staying on a film set. And comfortable. But what made it for me was the staff - so lovely, friendly, helpful, nothing was too much trouble. A bit like staying with friends. Great location, easy for buses, Liverpool St station, Spitalfields, Brick Lane. But please, please don't tell anyone how good this place is or I may never get another booking.

All the reviews you have read about this place are true! We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Batty Langley’s in October. This is a wonderful and unique hotel in the centre of London, very convenient for Liverpool Station and easily accessible for local transport. Batty Langley’s is not at all like a conventional hotel but is a unique ‘Georgian Guesthouse’. It does not have the facilities of slightly larger hotels (restaurant, bar, gym) but these are not important and Batty Langley’s more than makes up for it in charm. There is a lovely snug (with an honesty bar) where we had coffee and a drink after a busy day in London. Our room was small but very comfortable and was tastefully decorated with authentic antiques. The only downside was that there was no table in our room, so we did not order breakfast as we did not want to eat on our bed. Having said that there are so many cafes nearby that this wasn’t a problem. When we arrived, we did not have coffee facilities in our room but once we asked, we were offered a daily tray of freshly ground coffee and fresh milk each day. The staff were simply wonderful; discreet, calm and always attentive. There was building works right outside our bedroom which woke us up each morning but it’s to be expected in the middle of London and it got us out of bed! We will definitely return and recommend to friends. Just wish we had found this little gem before now!

I booked this visit in May for a trip in October and got a deal that included breakfast. The hotel is super easy to get to from Liverpool Street station, also near Eatly (which is AMAZING!) Customer service is second to none, nothing is too much effort. Friendly, helpful and concise. The room itself was fantastic, robes, REN toiletries, mini bar, rolltop bath and shower. The right amount of modern amenities with a classic style. The bed was firm but comfortable as were the pillows. Breakfast was so delicious, I had the smoked salmon, cream cheese and bagel. The salmon was lovely and a generous helping and the bagel tasted freshly made. I would definitely love to stay here again and maybe try one of the suites (I had a standard room so can only imagine what the suites are like). Just exactly what I needed, thank you so much!

Set on na beautiful cobbled side road, this discreet small victorian hotel was a delight to behold. All staff we encountered were completely hospitable and made our stay very personal. There is a lovely courtyard, library, bar area etc,...... lots of original oil paintings, beautiful decor and only 20 rooms. Excellent small unique boutique hotel.... would always return here. Good location too in the centre of Shoreditch.

This hotel was chosen by our family as a surprise for our 50th wedding anniversary. They couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The hotel itself is stunning, and spotlessly clean. We had a pretty private terrace, which we all made full use of. The whole experience was just wonderful. The staff were amazing. They were so welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them for - even after we'd checked out. Book this hotel! You won't be disappointed!
