2022 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best
The hotel itself looks and feels just like a rather grand, 300-year-old town house, complete with richly furnished drawing room, library, parlour and courtyard garden. Our characterful bedrooms are all furnished with genuine antiques and named after real people who lived in the area. Our bathrooms all have period fittings, refurbished, of course, to modern standards of efficiency.

Friends of ours, who live in London, recommended this hotel to us and it was an excellent suggestion. This is not at all your typical cookie cutter type of hotel. It's got a ton of character, with various sitting rooms to enjoy, comfortable and clean guest rooms and a location that can't be beat. It is not a place I would stay as a first time visitor to London though since you will probably want to be closer to the main tourist attractions. As a returning visitor though, especially one wanting to avoid the crowds in those tourist areas, this was a great choice. The Shoreditch neighborhood, where this is located, has been called the "Brooklyn of London" and it's absolutely a great area for walking around and shopping. Very close to Brink Lane and all the excellent restaurants there too. The only reason for not giving the hotel five stars is because of a front desk clerk who gave us bad information about what time we needed to be at the train station to catch the Eurostar. Otherwise, the rest of the staff was great and the place was perfect.

My mum and I returned to this hotel after a wonderful previous visit. It was just as good this time. The staff are just wonderful, so friendly, helpful and welcoming. After a long trip on busy trains, we felt instantly relieved stepping in the door. It’s a true little haven. We had tea and biscuits in the parlour and felt our holiday had begun. The room was high quality and the breakfast delivered to the room in the morning was super - smoked salmon, bagels, fresh orange juice etc. What a treat. We also really love the communal rooms, we came back late from a show and we’re able to just use the honesty bar to have a drink together in the library room to top off a great evening. We LOVE this hotel. It’s got charm, character, quality and wonderful people. We will be back (again). Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay.

Just had a lovely overnight stay at this hotel which as soon as you walked through the door was an oasis of calm away from the busy metropolis outside! All the staff were so welcoming and friendly and very professional. A real treat to have such good service. Everything was good quality from the bathroom toiletries to the jam, and also the delicious biscuits served with my pot of tea! No hesitation in recommending this lovely little hotel

Fantastic hotel with genuinely welcoming and caring staff. If you are looking for something different and not the homogenised blandness of so many hotels then “Batty Langleys” is it. From the moment you step inside from the crowded city streets its like entering a cocoon of peace, tranquility and calm. Yes it is quirky and may not suit those preferIng spas and restaurants but it has all the modern amenities required combined with a sense of history and true style. Its various reception rooms, honestly bars and incredible rooms make it feel as if you have come home and their smoked salmon breakfast bagels are amazing. We loved it so much that within an hour of arriving we had already booked our next stay.

The name is misleading! this beautiful ,luxury boutique hotel is far from being Batty. Quite the opposite. The attention paid to every possible need of ours could only be done by the most discerning staff. Everyone was so helpful, kind, courteous and at the same time, relaxed, friendly, and humorous. I had booked Batty Langley's for a six night stay in a junior sweet. I was treating friend of mine who due to health reasons, was on his last trip to London. Everyone in reservations made sure we had a beautiful room that quiet and fulfilled all of our needs! The hotel is beautiful and the pictures really reflect what it looks like. In fact, We stayed in the junior sweet that is on the webpage and it is as lovely as it looks. We felt like we were living in a picture! My friend ordered coffee to be sent to our room revery morning, while I slept, and I never heard anyone bringing the tray in. Pin drop quiet! While there is construction going on around the hotel, we heard nothing. I am a very light sleeper and had no issues. This was thanks to to the excellent reservations staff really caring about my requests. Cannot recommend Batty Langley's enough!

Room Tip: Get a room facing the street side. Sounds crazy, right? But the street is really a cobblestoned,...

Could not ask for more! This hotel is wonderful but it’s the staff that truly sets it apart!! So friendly, helpful and professional! The breakfast is awesome. Waking up to a knock on the door and someone is beautiful attire delivering as flawless breakfast is something I’ve never experienced before. We took full advantage of the self-serve gin bar is so fun and an amazing value and the courtyard was the perfect place for a cocktail. In summary, we don’t stay anywhere else when we visit London!

I booked this hotel as a surprise for our wedding anniversary as we were having dinner nearby. It is a true hidden gem on the edge of Spitalfields Market. I arrived a little early and the staff were really welcoming and friendly. As the room was not quite ready I was served tea in the beautiful tapestry room. I was then taken to the Earl of Bolingbroke suite which honestly takes your breath away. The authentic Victorian interior design is creative and stylish, featuring two levels. There is a hidden toilet (which is actually more of a throne) behind a bookcase on the lower floor. The bedroom above, has a beautiful bed and a solid marble bath in the room with a separate bathroom and shower. The icing on the cake is a spacious outdoor patio overlooking the city and across the Canary Wharf. There is no restaurant, which would in many ways be a waste anyway as you are surrounded by some many wonderful places to eat in the locale. There is a limited but perfectly adequate choice of breakfast food which we were lucky enough to be able to eat outside on the patio. We would not hesitate to return and only hope that it has not become so popular that we can’t get in!

A lovely quiet hotel just steps away from the bustle of Commercial street of Spitalfields. Thick carpets, thick walls, Georgian decorations, with several tucked away common rooms, all with honesty bars. There’s no restaurant, but evening room service was very quick-about the quickest late night service I’ve experienced anywhere-and extremely reasonably priced, though the menu is limited. We took breakfast in the library, though it isn’t included, it is also inexpensive, though again not with extensive choices. The hotel reminded me of Hazlitt’s in Soho, without the slightly over the top decor. Our junior suite was comfortable, with a gorgeous bath and a small sitting room. Staff couldn’t do enough for us. One caveat; there’s been construction work going on forever across the street, though it didn’t disturb us during the weekend, it is still worth considering if you are booking a room during the week. A true oasis.

Can't say enough good things about this place. Staff are fantastic; helpful, courteous. We had the Kitty Fisher room, which was lovely and had a fun bathroom with copper plated shower and stained glass windows. The hotel is located in the Shoreditch neighborhood, which is eclectic and fun! Breakfasts are delivered to the room and are outstanding. Tea was served to us in the afternoon. Also love the fact that they have an honesty bar off the lobby area. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
