Well it’s been nearly a week since we stayed at this little piece of heaven in a sprawling metropolis. Our room was fabulous, unfortunately our experience was slightly spoilt by a few selfish fellow guests, However, our angels Zeta and Sarah came to our rescue and the situation was very swiftly resolved in such a way that we couldn’t have anticipated. This was a long awaited celebration, made only better by the absolute first rate service we received. Thankyou to Sarah, Zeta and all the team that maintain this wonderful hotel. We look forward to our return visit.

What a beautiful, clean and unique hotel! We stayed for 2 nights and both were very restful and relaxing. The staff are brilliant; friendly and accommodating. Great customer service. We stayed in a standard double room. It was small but had everything we needed. The bed is VERY comfortable! Stylishly furnished and fab bathroom with both shower and bath. Due to Covid restrictions breakfast was pre ordered the night before and delivered to your room at an agreed time. On both mornings it was delicious and plentiful. Unfortunately there was maintenance in the underground so we visited the surrounding areas by foot. The hotel is in a perfect location so everything you needed was nearby. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and the museums are a few minutes away. Lovely quiet area too. We would definitely stay again! Highly recommend.

First of all, I would like to mention the warm welcome and the profesionalism shown by the reception staff, despite the current situation with Covid and all. Secondly, the Suite we have stayed in was very spacios and clean. Very different and more abstract than your normal 5 star hotel. We have also enjoyed playing in the lift and admired the art displayed throughout the hotel. London as usual, can not stop to amaze me with its energic vibe and fabulos lifestyle. All things considered, we have enjoyed our stay and will for sure stay here again once back in London. Thank you !

We stayed for 2 nights in the splash suite and it was one of our best experiences in London. Clean, luxury, and surrounded by many shops, museums, restaurants. The room fully equipped. The hotel staffs kindly arranged what we have requested. The art is amazing! We will come back for sure.

We booked a two night stay in the Trash City Suite at the end of May 2021. This hotel could be brilliant. It does however, let itself down in important ways. The location is excellent. Lovely part of South Kensington, on a quiet side street. We weren’t bothered at all by street noise. The hotel is perfectly placed for a visit to the Natural History Musuem, and V&A; literally across the road. The tube station is only a short walk down the road. From the exterior, it is easiest to spot the hotel by the flags outside, less so from an obvious signage. The name of the hotel hangs aloft and kind of upside down. It is hard to see. We arrived in the rain and juggling an umbrella so it was hard to identify. The reception staff are friendly but there was no offer of help with our bags nor to show us to the room - even when we arrived in the pouring rain and were trying to carry three different things each. At the time of our booking we were told that breakfast could only be served in the room due to Covid restrictions; they are also operating a reduced menu. We opted to eat-out for breakfast; though the room has a decent coffee machine (nespresso style) so we could start the day with a decent enough cup to get us on our way. There is no fresh milk though, just sachets. There is no mini-bar, but they offer a cocktail and drinks menu. The room is a decent side, if not huge. It has a very generous emperor sized bed and plenty of pillows. The bathroom is large and has a great power shower. The biggest plus point of the suite overall is the balcony area. Some issues of maintenance spoil the suite a little. A withered bamboo plant on the balcony no longer blocks a view of the air conditioning unit; not all the lights were working in the “Trash City” sign; there is a cracked pane of glass in the internal bathroom window. Oddly on the morning of our stay we were sat on the balcony and the velux window on the adjoining flat roof opened - we think this is the neighbouring property at the rear of the hotel. A gentleman proceeded to pop out, like a mole from a burrow, and was carrying out roof repairs – all while we sat about one foot away in dressing gowns. His head was roughly level with our knees. Even stranger was that he didn’t acknowledge our presence. We headed back inside the suite and laughed it off. The room is also quite dark, which is a challenge when getting ready and have a need to do hair and make-up. The bathroom mirrors are large but each have a faux frame effect over them so you can’t actually see all your hair and face at the same time. As I said above, there is no street noise, but you can hear the distinct noise of the ceiling creaking when the guests upstairs are moving around their room. What we weren’t told of at check in, and isn’t mentioned in their booking email is that they will only service the room if you make a specific request. We returned from a full day out in London to find our room just as we had left it in the morning; unmade bed, no clean towels, dirty coffee cups etc. We guessed that we had been accidentally missed, and so spoke to reception. It was only at this point that we were informed that we were supposed to request a visit from housekeeping. The manager was insistent we were told this at check in. We definitely weren’t. We had to agree to disagree in the end and the manger offered us complimentary cocktails. Some clean towels and (literally) a plastic bag of new coffee pods and tea bags were then brought up to the room. I was horrified to be honest. Clearly the only option was then to wash up our morning coffee cups, with no detergent, in the sink that you then need to wash your face in. For the price we paid and for a hotel which markets itself the way it does, this just isn’t what we paid for. The manager was polite, but at the end of the day we effectively still got the blame for their error. We made the best of it. Perhaps they could put a house-keeping card in the room to emphasise their policy? I just felt let down as it wasn’t the level of hospitality and service we were expecting from a high end establishment. To add to the overall disappointment, we realised when we got home that we had left a set of Bose earphones in the room. Our fault. A mistake when packing. The hotel says that nothing was there and housekeeping didn’t hand them in. What can you do? We say there were there, the hotel says not. C’est la vie. A claim our travel insurance beckons. The hotel could have a lot of offer and could be brilliant. Sadly, on balance, we wouldn’t book this hotel again.

Dear Jayne C, Thank you very much for your detailed report following your stay with us. Whilst I am pleased to read that you liked the overall of the room we provided you with I was disappointed to learn that your stay did not live up to your expectations. The gentleman you saw on the roof next to your terrace was indeed our neighbour, carrying out works on his property. We apologise for any inconveniences this has caused you. With regards to the cleaning of the room I would like to once again offer my sincerest apologies. As discussed, many guests do not wish to have stayover service at the moment, we therefore point this out on check in. The fact that the member of Staff who checked you in has failed to do so has since then been actioned, and further training has been addressed. I have personally investigated the lost property items you are missing but have to regretfully inform you that they were not found. With kind regards, Sarah Schmid Hotel Manager
