The entry foyer of The Grand at Trafalgar Square sumptuously reflects the grandeur of a by-gone era! The location cannot be beaten, and I loved being able to pop over the road to the National Gallery and National Portrait galleries. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service in the restaurants. The downside for us, is that we chose a budget... More

Excellent location just off Tralfagar Square, down the street from either the Charing Cross or Embankment stations. Walk to theatres, Parliament, the National Gallery, and the Thames. Building is elegant, room had high ceilings, large windows facing Northumberland Rd., a small but nice bathroom and a storage closet. Service is friendly and very helpful (especially Matt). This is the same... More

I had stayed here for business purposes for 6 nights and probably had high expectations, for the money paid and the reviews read. Located within an easy walk to Trafalgar Square, the Thames and Westminster, this makes for a great base to sightsee. Access to Charing Cross tube station is also good for anyone arriving. So location is a definite... More

Room was comfortable and well equipped though shower room was rather compact! Foyer was very grand but no seating for visitors. Staff were very friendly and helpful. But the location was its greatest asset - only a few steps from Trafalgar Square, very convenient for buses and underground, art galleries, theatre-land, and many great restaurants. Would certainly consider staying there... More

A brilliant location close to Trafalgar Square and the West End. The room was very comfortable and spacious (it was their mid-range accommodation) and was reasonably sound proofed so there was minimal traffic noise. This is more of a business hotel than a 'tourist' hotel, but the staff were brilliantly helpful (especially Matt and Ophelia) and friendly in a professional... More

Fantastic location, comfortable rooms. But the best part about it was Matt! Matt works at the front desk and I could not be happier with the experience I had with him. He was so helpful and thoughtful - very knowledgeable about the hotel and the local area. And was sure to ask me about myself and my trip. If all... More

Beautiful hotel, spacious room, lovely complimentary extras - bottles of water with chilled machines are excellent - staff super helpful and was a lovely thought to include a bottle of wine as celebrating a special birthday. Was a really special treat to stay and thank you for making it so special.

It is a very good election for a hotel in London. Great attention of the staff, a very good breakfast (nice and delicious), and also it was nice, comfortable and clean. It also has an excellent location, it's just a few meters of the best part of London(Trafalgar Sq. , Piccadilly Circus, etc), you have some very good places to... More

Up early for a breakfast meeting. I walked to my rendezvous, a very grand The Grand on Northumberland Ave, just a stones throw from Trafalgar Square, about as central as you get. The sort of understated English elegant hotel you find in central London. The lobby was grand yet intimate while the lounge for breakfast oozed class from a bygone... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
