Overall our experience at Marlin was excellent! Our only issue was we arrived early and needed a bathroom to freshen up and that was not premitted. However, everything else was perfect! Great location and the rooms were perfect for our family!
After booking through booking.com for June 2020 and having to adjust the booking due to COVID moving the concert we were attending, Marlin assured us our booking for Stratford was in place for June 2022. A few weeks before the date we were meant to stay they emailed to say they could no longer accommodate us in Stratford and offered us sites half an hour away on public transport. I'm disabled so an absolute no go for us. I repeatedly requested a refund for the (frankly ridiculous) over £300 for one night and was assured it had been processed and would be paid within 10 working days. Still waiting on the elusive refund and can't get hold of anyone of the phone who can't apparently explain why. Absolutely wouldn't recommend under any circumstances.
This is a residential condo building with some lower floors dedicated for rent. It is strictly no frills. We specifically rented this place because it had a washer/dryer. No one on the premises knew how to instruct us on how to use it it was a very old appliance - we spoke with the desk about this issue FIVE times and each they promised to assist us but never did. Only one lift was working, and the other one has been out of service for months according to the residents there. Also the dish washer wasn't working either. We didn't bother calling them for help after the washer/dryer nightmare.
We booked this apartment for a central place to stay in London. We wanted self catering to avoid having the expense of eating out for every meal. The location is great as it is close to Borough Underground station and London Bridge Train and Bus station as well as the gorgeous Borough Market. The whole of London is in easy reach. There are other reviews on here about apartment cleanliness - I thought they were being a bit picky but they are all true. The surface level cleaning appears adequate as you walk in but the whole place really is filthy. I have endless photos of dirty areas that I had to clean prior to using them. The kitchen equipment is sadly lacking and you can not cook more than a basic stove top meal as there was not a single bowl, tray, pot that could go in either the oven or microwave. The dishwasher is a struggle to work and if you manage to get it to work, it doesn't clean anything anyway. The booking said the apartment would be serviced weekly - didn't happen. Three times during the stay I asked to speak to a manager. I am still waiting for this contact. We paid an exorbitant price and were sorely disappointed with what we received for that.…
Whilst these apartments are in a great location and offer a good amount of space they are let down by a poor level of cleaning and repairs. Our bathroom was tired and bath damaged in 3 place, leaving it to rough to use with our children for fear of them cutting themselves. This was reported and viewed by the Manager on arrival but never repairs during our 3 night stay. The potential to be a great base but sadly general maintenance and care really let this apartment down.
a few months ago I chose to give myself a short break from home in my very city. The amazing London! But from the minute I came into Marlin Apartments Empire Square, I was greeted & served with exceptional customer service . If your looking for a hotel with a warm team that are friendly, helpful & willing do help you at all cost, look no further than Marlin Apartments, Empire Square. I like the way that I am treated here and I will certainly be coming back. A big thank you to "Radu" & "Amira" for going above and beyond every-time I needed assistance with something.
Conviently located. That's about it. Apartment was filthy,only one lift working. Poorly stocked kitchen,no tea towel,no oven mitts, no oven tray,no forks the list goes on. Fridge smelt stale. When finally got the washing machine to work it washed for two hours
As a frequent visitor to the capital, I selected Marlin Apartments yet again due to the convenience of having my own space to relax with family and friends. Sadly, the apartment we stayed in on this occasion was quite disappointing and shabby. There were several kitchen items missing, lack of linen and duvet for sofa bed which was quite uncomfortable to sleep on due to metal bars sticking in our backs. There were issues with the cooker and the dishwasher which I reported to the front desk. This said, I am confident that Marlin will deal with the issues reported and make amends on our next stay. The view from the balcony was splendid offering us a stunning view of The Shard. With the convenience of a local high street store just below the apartments, Borough Station just a few minutes walk away and Borough just on the doorstep, Marlin at Empire Square is our favourite choice to stay when visiting London. …
We arrived at the destination and stored our luggage till the check-in. When we arrived we got the wrong luggage. The employee of the front desk were not really friendly and it seems they are not interested. When opening the apartment the fire alarm was flashing and sounding because the battery was empty. We also told the front desk about this issue. Only after 3 days the fire alarm was fixed. This is super safety critical. Nobody seems to care. The kitchen was not cleaned, the bath room and beds were clean. In the bath room a silicon at the shower was missing, so while showering the bath room was „flooded“ by some water. One of two lifts was out of order. So we need to use the stairs. Overall cheap and very central location. But dont expect any friendly front desk.
The property is poorly managed. Furnitures are old and in poor condition. Front desk is not helpful, barely answers call. Kitchen does not have some basic utensils, bathroom lacks adequate towels and toilet paper for the duration of stay.
