This place is not swanky or posh: it is quiet, friendly and peaceful, with lovely staff and a great breakfast. Ask for a room that backs on to the lovely garden square. [19 is lovely]. there is a library with books, games and all the newspapers and free tea and coffee all day.

This is a quiet place, based on Quaker congeniality, where you can easily get to the rest of London off the Tube or on a bus. It is within a short walk to the British Museum, which is why I like to stay here.

The location is great if you like Bloomsbury, and I do. The club is located on a reasonably quiet street by Russell Square. It is discreet and old-fashioned, in fact most of the members seem to be older, single gentlemen. The membership factor gives a sense that hotel-type guests are transient and perhaps somewhat translucent - the service given was... More

This is a special place to stay. I feel so safe there and it's great for lone travellers too. Easy walk of Euston station and tube stations nearby, together with all the attractions of the local area. No TV in the bedrooms, which makes for a peaceful stay, though there is a TV lounge if you do want to watch.... More

We had Room 4 which was a quiet twin facing the garden. This was not a small room; it was a good size with an excellent shower room. The staff were efficient and informative. The breakfast was excellent. Take a radio if you want to keep up with the world in your room. TV was blissfully absent.

There might be other things that you want (loud TV's, spacious rooms, lifts) but this excellently located establishment will provide everything that you need ( if like us you value a good sleep, clean quiet rooms, peaceful reading rooms and a generous breakfast included in your tarrif). We couldn't fault The Penn Club.

This was my first stay at the Penn Club, but I hope I can stay here every time I come to London in future. Read all the website and all the reviews here. It's not a conventional hotel. It's perfect for some people, but wouldn't suit everyone. Your room will be small and plain, but very clean. It may have... More

Yes, all the reviews are spot on. This is an oasis, in central London, a walk from Coventry Street, Bloomsbury, the British Museum and many places a tourist will be visiting. So location is fab ... but that's not the best aspect of the Penn Club. It's got a unique history with associations to the Quakers. This has to be... More

I have stayed here many times and always I find it a restful and relaxing place to stay, with a variety of rooms to suit your budget, but all of them good quality. There is also a quiet reading room as well as a TV Lounge. The breakfast is also excellent.

We stayed here in mid-May. Our room was clean and well-appointed, though small, like most in London. Great breakfast, (full English) served at a communal table. Friendly staff and guests. A home away from home. Great shower with strong water pressure. This will not seem trivial to patrons of London budget hotels. No tvs or phones in the room, but... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
