South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.

What can I say about this hotel, everything was perfect. The value, the location, the decor, the team members, the air con!! My mother and I had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel and would highly recommend and return on our trips to London. The hotel bar has some pretty impressive bottles of wine, the bottle of house wine was lovely. The free upgrade was also very much appreciated :) Thanks James

This was by far the best value hotel I managed to find when searching for a stay in London. So, to be honest, I wasn't entirely sure about what to expect. I needn't have worried! Reception is lovely, friendly and efficient. The room was small, but the bed very comfortable. There was a large bottle of water supplied free of charge, and some good quality snacks available to buy. I did find it noisy from fairly early in the morning because of the traffic outside, but that's London for you. The receptionist in the morning went out of her way to be helpful. It's a very short walk to Earls Court tube, and there are also several nice restaurants within good walking distance. Kensington wouldn't always be my first choice for a London stay because it's slightly out of centre ... but for this price and experience, I'll definitely be checking to see if the Rockwell has availability.

I stayed at the Rockwell for one night, last Sunday. The area around it is pretty variable and it fronts a noisy main road, but when you step inside it is calm and modern. The staff were friendly and efficient and although small, my single room was well appointed and very well designed. Breakfast was good, with decent choices and high quality ingredients. I was a bit disappointed to find the restaurant was closed on Sunday evenings, but there is plenty of choice in nearly Earls Court. I would happily stay here again.

What a lovely experience! My daughter and I stayed for one night on Saturday, 24th August. We know London very well but hadn't stayed in this area before and were delighted with the location. Close to many amenities but with the tranquility of beautiful Holland Park on the doorstep. Everything about the hotel has an air of calm and quality. The lounge at the front of the hotel is stylish and relaxed, the outdoor garden area is peaceful and so unusual for a hotel so close to the centre of the city. Staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. We loved that staff were always available to assist but never intrusive - well done! Room was spacious and light, and again everything of excellent quality, understated and elegant. We slept 'like logs'. The area is just gorgeous, you are literally on the doorstep of bustling Earl's Court but also within minutes of the fabulous Holland Park with lots of small independent shops, deli's and restaurants, and of course the park itself, the Design Museum, Japanese Gardens and fabulous architecture! The Rockwell will be our 'go to' hotel when visiting London from now on - we are already planning our next trip and can't wait to return. Thank you again to all the hotel team. Exceptional!

I stayed at The Rockwell for 5 nights in July. I chose it because of the location and reasonable price especially since this was peak season for London. Booking was easy and luckily they were able to accommodate my request to extend my trip with no hassle. Check-in was smooth and I was pleasantly surprised that my single room had a double bed and was relatively spacious for London standards. It was big enough for one but would be a tight squeeze for two. The only two things that let down my stay were the small size of the shower stall. I’m not a big person by any means and I found it quite cramped. The other thing was the peeling wallpaper. It’s a small issue but it lets down the overall impression and would be such a simple fix.
