#33 of 1,200 hotels in London
Travelers' Choice
Overlooking a quiet garden square in the heart of Mayfair and the West End, The Beaumont embodies the spirit of the grand hotels of the 1920s – yet on an intimate scale, with just 50 rooms and 22 suites and studios, including Sir Antony Gormley’s ROOM, an inhabitable work of public art, and the Roosevelt Suite. The hotel’s sleek Art Deco interiors have been recently refreshed by superstar designer Thierry Despont: the iconic Magritte Bar serves classic cocktails and stylish snacks, while the new Gatsby's Room provides the ideal setting for afternoon tea or evening drinks. At the core of The Beaumont is the Colony Grill, a starry, sophisticated New York-style restaurant with a timeless menu of transatlantic favourites, and a big helping of old-world glamour. For fans of al fresco dining, meanwhile, the brand-new Terrace brings café culture to Brown Hart Gardens. The Lotos Room is a private-dining room seating up to 60. The elegant spa, with its spacious gymnasium, offers a wide range of relaxing and regenerative treatments. Since opening in 2014, this privately owned and independently run five-star hotel has established an enviable reputation for its thoughtful, friendly service and beautifully appointed accommodation, winning many accolades, including the 2020 Condé Nast Traveller Gold List editors’ favourite hotels in the world.

I live in the are and am not reviewing the hotel. We love the Colony Grill which I have already reviewed. This review is about the Magritte Bar. I hesitate to say just how good it is, because it can already be quite busy, but it is a wonderful bar: pretty room, excellent service, and great bar food. Many thanks to Manuel, Antonino, and Cirprian for their excellent service. If you are looking for a martini in Mayfair, this is the place.

What a Hotel. Fantastic decor, staff that not only rival but exceed any service standards we have experienced anywhere in the world from many , many exclusive hotels over the years. It sounds like a cliche but this place sets a standard for all others to follow. It is truly unique …. And no i am not the hotel CEO - just a guest ! We came to the hotel to celebrate my wifes’s birthday ….. we are still here and absolutely do not want to leave. If you want a special place for a super special occasion where the hotel absolutely punches above its weight I could not recommend the Beaumont highly enough. Decore, service, food and atmosphere. Yes we are fans now and we have not even checked out!

We were greeted at the door and had our car valet parked before bing checked in and receiving a free room upgrade! Every single member of staff that I encountered were incredibly friendly and helpful , the spa treatments were amazing and we were sent off with complimentary water :) A great stay! They also charged our electric car overnight.

We have stayed at the Beaumont a number of times and always had a great experience. We are now back after their refurbishment and have to say I’m disappointed. When a standard room can be over £1000 per night (we paid a little over half of that) I would expect some shower gel rather than a small bar of soap and the bottle of champagne paid for on arrival was no where to seen. Gone is the complimentary Daimler that you could use for local trips that used to be parked outside and replaced with what a presume is a customers pickup truck. You have to call and ask for milk if you want to make a cup of tea as it’s not provided. Anyway, my main gripe is the breakfast. Toast done on one side, home made baked beans that taste like the cheap tinned ravioli, floppy streaky bacon and a waiter that made fun of my accent. So disappointed and angry at the waiter and the breakfast (£25 per head). What was a real treat for us on a weekend to London has become a real disappointment. We will be at The Connaught for future visits and will be going out for breakfast on our second night. Most of the hotel is fantastic but the small things they were so good at have been replaced with small things that have spoiled it.

Dear Phil6767, Thank you for sharing your feedback here: it is always beneficial to receive constructive comments so we can address any issues that arise. I am naturally extremely disappointed to learn you did not enjoy your experience at The Beaumont as we pride ourselves on our exemplary service. I would like to address all points you’ve brought to my attention in turn. With regards to the hotel toiletries, as part of our environmental efforts we recently introduced a hard bar shampoo and a hard bar body wash, all by highly respected brand ‘D R Harris’, as well as a conditioner and a body cream in aluminium tubes and a traditional soap bar. This effort has meant that we have reduced our use of single plastics by around 33,000 bottles per year. Our housekeeping department always has liquid alternatives available for those guests that prefer them. Your feedback is most helpful as we may now consider putting a note into guest rooms to indicate an alternative is available. As part of the same efforts, three years ago we replaced the Daimler house car you mention with a no-emissions hybrid BMW limousine which is available to all guests for complimentary drop-offs in the local area. We would like to have kept the Daimler but it was becoming very expensive to maintain unfortunately. With regards to your comment regarding the room rate of our Classic Room rate, although subject to seasonal variations, starts at £470 and includes a daily Beaumont Baker’s Basket of home-made viennoiseries, seasonal preserves, coffee or tea, and juices; fresh organic coffee, teas, soft drinks, still & sparkling water & snacks from the in-room minibar; high speed Wi-Fi throughout the hotel; interactive film and music on demand; access to our in-house digital media platform for a huge selection of local and international newspapers, magazines, podcasts & more; local & national landline telephone calls; use of The Beaumont’s chauffeur-driven house limousine for emissions-free local trips (subject to availability); and use of the Spa and 24-hour Gymnasium throughout stay. I would like to apologise that the champagne ordered in advance of your stay was not delivered on time. I am following this up with the team internally and finding out where this miscommunication took place. With regards to your feedback of a colleague in the restaurant, this is something I take very seriously indeed. Since reading your review, I have asked my Food and Beverage Operations Manager to investigate internally so we can take the correct action. This is an issue we will address with urgency and thank you for bringing this to my attention. If you would like to talk on any points I’ve mentioned here, please feel free to call the hotel and ask for me personally and I would be very happy to discuss this further. I do wish you a happy Christmas and I do hope at some point we can welcome you back. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly. With my best regards, Duncan Palmer
