We visited on Saturday 24th September for afternoon tea in the Oscar Wilde bar. Beautiful setting, food was lovely and plentiful. Attentive staff at time of booking who asked if there was a special occasion, so there was also a birthday surprise of chocolates while the live pianist played 'happy birthday'. Great experience

Cafe Royal is an old famous cafe(great coffee and cakes!), but also an unusual hotel in the centre of London on Regent Street. We asked and got a very quiet room on the top floor, with windows to a side street and had a few good nights without any noise. As a passionate swimmer I enjoyed the 20m heated indoor... More

Most amazing incredible stay! Cannot fault it - from the moment we checked in to when we left. The staff and service are absolutely tops and the decor is beautiful - the Swimming Pool is a dream; the Oscar Wilde Room is stunning - none of the photos do it true justice; it just has to be seen! Our room... More

Property located in the best touristic area of London, everything is around within a walking distance, supermarket, movie theater, sightseeing places, coffee shops, food market, parks, restaurant budget and fine dinning all around The impressive part is no matter how busy and crowded the area, the moment you enter the Hotel completely sound isolated from everything outside, like entering another... one of my favorite hotel in London. It is in the best location. On the piccadily circus and regent Street. You can sightseeing or shopping by walk. All the brands on Regent Street also very good food courts on the Street. You should check the Heddon Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay or if you prefer beef you should visit Gaucho.... More

New, stylish hotel. Good location but the roads around are very busy. Not easy to get there and park, especially with lots of luggage. Service is good but not the best. Good SPA with the pool. Big rooms, some with good views.

We have just returned from a weekend in London. It was the first time we have stayed here. We were expecting something very traditional and were taken aback slightly as to how modern it is. The room we stayed in was first class once you had mastered all the dials ( everything is automatic, even the curtains ) The restaurant... More

A great hotel in the middle of central London, everything is at your doorstep. The rooms are really quiet despite being in a busy area. The suites are nice and big, and the restaurant is excellent and the breakfast is great...don't miss the afternoon tea it is divine!

Well well, a hidden gem (even thou its on Regent Street). The wonderful Cafe Royal blends some modern touches to some rather grande old marbling. The reception area is very chic, dark woods and hidden computer screens. Loved the lunch at the cafe, the breakfast was even better in the atrium. The corridors are lined with Japanese style room dividers,... More

Took a chance booking this Hotel as I did not know a lot about it, apart from its colourful history as a top notch restaurant and club, however 3 years ago it was sympathetically converted into a hotel, and I think it's right up there with the best in London! very high spec rooms with all the latest hi tech... Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Combining architectural heritage with contemporary design, Cafe Royal has been reincarnated as a luxury hotel in the heart of London's West End with the elegance of Mayfair to the west and the creativity of Soho to the east. Grand historic areas have been sensitively restored while 160 guestrooms, including 49 suites and six signature suites have been created in a contemporary yet refined style. Our guestrooms start from approximately 35sqm/377sqft to 212sqm/2,281sqft with every room presenting itself as a suite. Continuing its celebrated legacy, Hotel Cafe Royal offers a selection of restaurants and bars for guests to enjoy. At the heart of the hotel, the Ten Room offers British informal dining all-day, while the Green Bar is the perfect place to relax and unwind with a cocktail. Restored to revive the ornate Louis XVI decor and detailing, the iconic Oscar Wilde Bar (formerly the legendary Grill Room, originally established in 1865), is now the place to enjoy Champagne, cocktails and a light menu of British dishes and live entertainment on select evenings. The Cafe, on Regent Street, revives the European tradition of cafe culture. To complete the experience, the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre is an urban retreat in the centre of the capital spanning over 1,200sqm/13,000sqft featuring a large lap pool, sauna and Hammam/steam room and offering a range of signature treatments. Reflecting a core vision to harmoniously unite the four natural elements of nature, Akasha features four corresponding spaces; lounge/earth, spa/water, gym/fire, yoga/air. ... more   less
