Cheapest hotel we could find for the nights we needed to stay, and in those regards, this hotel did the job. The hotel was clean, and all the staff very friendly and amenable, but the aircon wasn't working and the fan provided did very little to cool the room down. We had to have the window open which meant we... More

No air con (hot July in central London) which meant leaving the windows open, however our room was next to the train line. So hot room plus loud trains equalled little sleep. I wouldn't stay here again

A great hotel for the price, staff were friendly, great Italian chef who came out and chatted to everybody over breakfast. Only downside was as it was summer the room we had has no air con, however to make up for it a fan was in the room. Overall a little out of the way but well priced, great staff,... More

For the second time in a month we needed to spend a night in the city/east end area because of an event we were attending. Rather late in the day, we tried to book the Premier Inn at Blackfriars which we had used before and found it full. The same was true of almost all the other hotels in the... More

If you need a room near Aldgate then nice cheap clean place. Very small breakfast/bar area. Didn't have any food in hotel but usual travellodge menus. Room basic but clean and ideal for one or two nights. Handy for overground and underground. Few bars locally. Handy for Stratford and city.

My bf and I stayed two nights about 5/6 months ago (yes, it's taken me this long to write the review!). The room was nothing special, looking a little dated but clean and comfortable (I've given it an 'average' rating for cleanliness since a clean room is a standard expectation). There is not a luxury hotel but a budget hotel.... More

This hotel has in theory a great location, is clean and tidy, good staff...but the trains completely ruined my nights sleep, running until after midnight and again from 5 in the morning right outside my window.

This is a typical travelodge, nothing fancy but perfectly comfortable. My only gripe is that WiFi is only free for 30 minutes and charged after that. The staff were all lovely and a credit to the hotel. Very central location, only a few minutes walk from the tube. Would stay again.

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighborhood Profile
Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
