Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.

It seems as a gold card holder my luck has been running out with Ibis, especially in the London area. Staff was rude and not trained in customer service, room was dirty, no clean towels, and didn’t even wipe off the desk. When you did clean towels, seems like the towels were well used; most hotels would have replaced long ago and used for rags. Stay away if your business traveller, as I stayed there for nine days of being uncomfortable. Needed important documents for work delivered, the staff refused to help and told me they do not help. Asked for policy, but it seemed it was being made up as the conversation progressed. Never did received such document and of all the Ibis I stayed, the business traveller was treated much better, and if I needed assistance it was always there. Its a trash place. There are better Ibis around. Though the customer service has declined over the years and the brand name is becoming crap. Collogues at work, recommend Travel Lodges and Best Western, or anything but Ibis. For London accommodations I may have to start listening to their advice. I did write a review the hotel chain sends out but got the usual copy/paste email in reply. You’ve been warned!

We took the kids away for a night in London, specifically to see the Tower of London, which is about 10 minutes walk. This hotel was a great find; good, comfortable rooms and attentive, helpful staff. The bar is nice enough, with access limited to guests. We all enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the kids loved their stay. If we come back to the city area, we’ll come back here.

I stayed in July in 2 rooms for 8 days with my family. Front desk staff is pretty much there taking up space, but when I asked if they could recommend places to eat or do, they were clueless. I had a complaint with my room and a sewage smell, it would not be bad when I had the air conditioning on or after a while in the room, but as soon as you entered from being out, it would hit you. They could not help. Don't ask the waitress what is in Cottage pie, she thinks cottage cheese, which may be but maybe other ingredients would have been helpful. People that are definitely not interested in their jobs or customer service, they would be better working in a non customer service job. Spend the money and go more into central London.

It was my first experience with Ibis hotels, but not a bad one. The room had a strong smell of mold and we only had opportunity to have breakfast on the first morning (we stayed 3 nights) because the breakfast room was overcrowded and without any place for sitting. On the other side, the staff was very friendly and welcoming since day one and the location of the hotel is really good !!! So, it depends on what you're looking for.... :)

Spend 4 days at this hotel, with our two grown-up sons who stayed in the room next to ours. Perfect location, not in the most busy area of London. Great service at the reception and also in the bar. Easy to get to anywhere in London, and also walking distanse to several attractions. We would love to come back!
