Using a voucher (Christmas present from my brother), we visited this hotel for afternoon tea and it was dreadful. The room they use for this is grubby and in need of a full refurb. The furniture is an ad hoc mix of trash that looks like it was sourced from several skips and much of the upholstery was stained and dirty. It actually felt as though by sitting down we were at risk of staining our clothes. The layout of the afternoon tea, when it arrived, was not visually attractive and no explanation was offered as to the content of the sandwiches or cakes. We weren’t going to be offered a choice of tea, but a choice was available when we queried this as the waitress began to walk away. As for the meal itself, the tea was very good and the sandwiches tasted fresh, albeit uninspiring. Edible is about the best I can say. The scones were poor and under baked. Worst of all however, we’re the cakes. Very poor quality with cheap ingredients. No one checked with us to see whether everything was OK and we were pleased and relieved to walk out, with half of the food untouched. This is not a place I would visit again under any circumstances.

My partner and I arrived an hour early and they allowed us to check in one hour earlier. The receptionist was very attentive, clear, and polite. We got to the room and it all looked one. The furnishings and the bed, bathroom, etc. were spotless. However, the plug in fan (which I think my have been a temporary fixture was caked in dust (maybe it came from a storage room). The hotel had lots of amenities, however we didn't use any. The hotel had a pool, a spa, restaurants, and bars. The TV in the room (208) was odd. Instead of a fully functioning sky remote is was specific for a hotel. Additionally, the remote was fully working and we could change channel. We used the screen mirroring function instead from my phone. The room had: shoe shine mitt, slippers, two types of glasses, hand towels and two shower towels. The air con was very bad. The temperature didn't fall past 22. (We had the temperature on 5'C all the time and the windows open from start to end. Luggage holding on check out until our train time. Overall, it isn't 5*. If travelodge is 3*, then this is four. Its quiet basic. But, the amenities, the location, and the style make this a good hotel! Nice stay, but I probably wouldn't go back next time.

A lot of money when a Travelodge would be better service, cleaner and a third of the price. All of the rooms are filthy. And I saw pretty much all of them after complaining. Furniture is water damaged. Eventually moved to a larger room. Still not particularly clean but the standard definitely better. The rooms aren’t very well soundproofed and you can hear banging and moving most of the time. Not as bad once the rooftop bar closed. However the worst thing was a flashing light directly above the bed that has no particular rhythm. Could be ten could be one flash. But they were so bright they lit up the room. Had to figure something out ourselves as no one bothers to answer the phone when you call. Used plasters and cotton pads to block enough to sleep. But note that even two pads and several plasters didn’t block it entirely. I didn’t dare risk the breakfast after looking at reviews when the flashing was keeping me awake. I made a massive error booking this hotel. And it’s such a shame because if they cared it could be fantastic.
