No record of our booking on arrival, so delay in checking in. Only after checking in we were told there was a problem with the aircon, but it was 'being sorted'. On the hottest day of the year the room was unbearable. Went to reception to get an assurance re the aircon as the night was unbearable. Stood behind another group who were also complaining about this and other issues. The receptionist assured me the manager would speak to me. I Waited 30 minutes in the lobby, to be finally told that unfortunately the Aircon would not be working. Offered a fan... Unacceptable and not fit for purpose. Checked in to another hotel nearby. Far superior. Still awaiting my refund.
Very late review, however wanted to warn travellers about this place. I’m not going to explain, just look at the photos. Avoid at all costs. I felt bad for the staff as they clearly knew the place was a dive.
This is 100% not a five star hotel, the paint on the windows and the paper on the wall were coming off, electric cables rub]n under threadbare carpet then taped up the side of a fire place, the room felt dirty top to bottom, The furniture second hand, the shower was totally clogged up, air con did not work, staff the unhappiest I have ever encountered (only 2 on duty in the whole hotel) asked to speak with management, there were none, some guy in jeans and a security jumper turned up but was not authorised to refund. We were told “the manager” would meet us at checkout, he of course was not there. I am not kidding £330 for a room, in a “a five” hotel, I was robbed, never make the.mistake of staying here.
had the pleasure to stay there in March 2018 amazing place with an amazing location, close to many attraction areas and metro station, just 5 minuts walking distance from Piccadilly circus and 5 mins more to reach Buckingham Palace
This is a very late review! (That's the joy of having a child) My husband and I stayed here in June to celebrate our first night off without our child. Knowing we needed to stay nearby, we chose The Courthouse in case we needed to rush back and how lucky we were! Upon calling to book, I spoke to one of the managers who was so touched about hearing why we were booking the "Romance Package" (it was a night away so I had asked to have a whiskey bought and ready in the room for my husband as a surprise!) he upgraded us by total surprise when we came the next day to check in. That little touch was so thoughtful. He knew it was a big night away from us and made sure to go the extra mile with his staff and it still, nearly a year later, has lingered as a kindness we remember. Check in was smooth and easy, followed by an afternoon champagne in on the rooftop bar overlooking East London. Having called Shoreditch home for the past six years it was nice to see it from above. The atmosphere was chill and despite it being crowded, we had no problem finding a table or hearing each other. We then made our way down to the spa and a had dip, completely alone! The facilities were incredibly private and it felt like the past year of parenting melted away while relaxing with one another. After the lazy afternoon, and many sleepless nights before, we asked if we could order our dinner upstairs and the hotel was super about accommodating the request. They also brought up a bottle of wine, which we had two glasses of before falling asleep watching Rat Race -- an ideal romantic evening must include John Cleese? Honestly, we slept like our baby. Despite the excellent location on the doorstep of Shoreditch, we didn't hear anything and the black-out blinds were fully black out. When we woke up at ten, after ten hours of sleep!, it was shocking for it to be that late. The lazy lay in was complete with a full English at the indulgent time of 11am in bed, thoughtfully arranged so we just needed to call down rather than pre-order as most places request. The attention to detail for every step was there and really gave us a magical stay when we needed it most. I…
