We booked on an overnight gourmet break stay for two in October, for some much-needed R&R and returned well and truly rested. We had lovely Gregory check us in on arrival. We'd already had our dinner and breakfast times booked prior to arrival and when raised with Gregory that our half bottle of champagne was missing (included in the promotion), this was promptly rectified and brought to our room. The room was truly amazing, with electric black-out blinds, a Dyson hairdryer, wireless charging station, and Bang and Olufsen television. The only two minor things we noticed was the digital scales didn't work and there was a make-up stain on one of the dressing gowns. Had we brought this to the attention of the front desk I'm sure this would've been changed immediately. Dinner in the Michelin-starred Angler restaurant on the 7th floor was just delicious. We arrived at 7.30, and by 8pm it was pretty full. We sat on the terrace, which was warm and cosy, and enjoyed every morsel. I would highly recommend dining here. Later that evening we watched a movie in our room. Fairly good selection, unfortunately the one we wanted to watch, the sound was completely out of sync with the picture, which was annoying. The next morning we had breakfast in the South Place Chop House. We received a £25pp allowance for breakfast which was plenty to leave us bursting. The hash browns were incredible! The 'American pancakes' as they were described on the menu were far too sweet, and not as soft and fluffy as American pancakes should be. The only other disappointing element was a non-authorised charge on my credit card for two mini-bar expenses, which I found out about via an emailed invoice after my arrival home. Usually I do a quick stock-check of items in the mini-bar against what is listed, however due to Covid-19 these lists are removed, and you are expected to download the app for this information, which I didn't do until much later in the day. The redeeming factor was that the hotel was responsive when I raised my concern, and this was resolved to my satisfaction within 48 hours. I do feel that guests should be asked on check-out (where possible), if they have used the mini-bar so charges can be authorised. Overall, we had a good stay. Despite not being able to make use of the spa during our stay, I look forward to returning at some point next year, when times are hopefully better. Thank you to all the staff at the South Place for making our stay so welcoming and safe during this challenging time, with special mention to Rosella, Gregory and Madalina who assisted me. Keep up the excellent work.

We only stayed here for one night and didn't spend much time in the hotel so have limited feedback. But, our room was supposed to be ready at 3pm and yet we couldn't get access til 4pm because it wasn't ready, they tried to ease this with a free drink but seeing as we had to leave at 5pm for a dinner reservation all it did was stress me out. The room was OK, but a lot of the woodwork had dents, scratches and marks, so looked a bit shabby. Beautiful bathroom/shower and amazing amenities in the room, everything was thoroughly thought about. Weird TV though, really struggled with using it, even had to call reception to ask how we switch it off! We ordered poached egg and avocado on toast for breakfast. It tasted nice but for £10 it would be nice to have 2 pieces of toast, also I'm not sure how the chef poaches the eggs but the yolk when cut open was full of water so I ended up with a plate full of a yolky water puddle. All in all, I'd probably go back, but I didn't love it.

Dear Kathryn-Marie3003 Thank you for your feedback following your stay with us. I am sorry to hear that you were not able to access your room on time at 3pm and it put pressure on you for your dinner plans in the evening. We are trying our very best that all rooms are ready by 3pm but on your occasion it did not go to plan for which I apologise. I am glad to hear that you have enjoyed the room and in particular the bathrooms and other amenities. I have passed on your comments on breakfast to our Head Chef who will ensure the portions are more generous. I would like to thank you for your constructive feedback and hopefully we will be able to welcome you back in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly for any future reservations and I can ensure you are well looked after. Best wishes Susanne

I booked a last minute overnight stay here for my boyfriends birthday. I have been here several times before for drinks with friends/work and have always enjoyed it. The stay was lovely. Hotel room was so nice, bathroom and deep bath with robes so relaxing, and a fully stocked mini bar if you wanted anything else. A very clean and stylish hotel that has everything you could want and less than 5 mins from liverpool street station!

We stayed at the hotel because we had reservations at the Angler which is in the 7th floor of the hotel. When we arrived the staff were very attentive and carried at the required steps to meet the infection prevention standards. Our room was beautiful and exceeded expectations. The location is nice and central as well so good if you are in town to see the sights.
