South Place Hotel was one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed at. My husband & I travel a lot & so often stay at leading 5* hotels worldwide. The service we received at South Place Hotel was hands down some of the best we’ve ever received & started from the very second we walked in. All of the staff were friendly & attentive, we found the customer service at South Place Hotel really was second to none. We stayed in one of the King rooms, the room was very spacious & our king size bed was also incredibly comfortable, with very cozy pillows & a comfy duvet, so we slept really well. Being in the City of London, the street lights can be quite bright, the electric black out blinds were amazing & blocked out all of the light while we slept. There are 2 wall mounted controls for the lights & blinds either side of the bed. Our room & the rest of the hotel were incredibly clean. The bathrooms are spacious & well designed, all towels were very soft & fluffy, the bath was huge & the shower was great quality. The room was also very quiet, we were on the 4th floor overlooking the street & didn’t hear any noise from outside at all. Checkout is via the app, which makes things very easy. The location is also great, Moorgate in the City of London is surrounded by so much history, if you like to explore, as we do. Moorgate is a nice place to stroll around & the streets are quite quiet on the weekend, so we found that was the perfect time to explore away from the busy crowds. We had an absolutely perfect stay & only have positive things to say, we would throughly recommend South Place hotel! We had such a wonderful time & are looking forward to staying here again in future.

I am not normally driven to write reviews but on this occasion, the poor customer service has led me to warn others of staying in this establishment. I stayed in South Place Hotel with my partner for two nights during May 2021 for a short break in London. The location is in a quiet area and easily accessible by the London Underground. Our issues started right from arrival. We after a long journey to find that the room that my partner had organised with the hotel as a surprise paid-for upgrade had not been arranged, and was met with total apathy at the reception desk. We were told that there was no record of any upgrade being requested, despite it being made in writing on email, and the check-in member of staff indicated, after asking for proof of this email and presented with it, that it was probably because of a wedding that has been booked in and that our allocated room had been taken by their party instead. We were instead offered an alternative upgrade at a greater cost to that which my partner had already agreed to pay, which is clearly not a satisfactory option given it was the South Place Hotel’s mistake for not correctly making the booking. We subsequently agreed to stay in an alternative room at an upgrade cost but still feel the reception member of staff was very dismissive of our concerns regarding our booking and there was no hint of an apology for the hotel’s mistake. Subsequent to this, we were specifically told that the complimentary snacks and soft drinks in the room were not complementary, as advertised on the website for those who booked directly through South Place Hotel, and when asking the same member of staff how we should go about booking a slot in the Steam Room/Sauna the answer given was “it’s on the South Place Hotel app” with no further assistance. We were hesitant to even question the issue regarding the snacks with said staff member as a result of our previous interaction, despite there being clear evidence on your website to the contrary: The room we were switched to was good - spacious with a rolltop bath and excellent amenities. The room promised blackout blinds - one blind had malfunctioned, meaning it couldn't be closed without pressing the button >100 times to close at small intervals each time, which was quite frustrating. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable and we did have a relaxing time there. We dined in the Chophouse on the first night - the food was fresh and tasty, and reasonably priced for central London. We spent some time in the Sauna and Steam Room next to the gym as well, which was, again, very relaxing. The above issues were communicated by email to the hotel on the first night of our stay and seemingly ignored, although a few days later on prompting it was suggested the email was not received due to a "system error" and that we would be contacted soon to rectify the situation. I am still waiting to hear from the hotel a week later and haven't had so much as a courtesy note from a manager to let us know our issues are being investigated, and I now notice I have been charged an additional £30.00 to my card a week after checkout for an unknown reason. I am also still awaiting a final invoice despite requesting this in writing. We would not stay here again due to the customer service and general attitude of the staff - it seemed the wedding party and other guests were more important to attend to during our stay which made us feel very small. Not what you want out of a 5 star establishment.

I Stayed recently and the hotel is great. Very different with Covid but the staff can be seen trying to make it as good as they can. Check in was smooth and quick which was good. We booked an early arrival to get into the room early as we were aware luggage can not be stored, which is understandable to keep everyone safe. I Did however see some guests complaining about things that are not in the hotels control but are law. I think they are the same ones who would not wear a mask. The receptionist Rossella and curly hair guy on the desk we’re both fun and professional even when dealing with some difficult people. The room was clean, little branded sanitizers in the bathroom are cute and great to take with you around the city. Maids can be seen running around the place but smile when you catch their eye. The restaurant was busy, I think people just want to get out and about. Check out the garden it’s a hidden gem! Check out was done using the hotels app and they send you an invoice via email. Just a thank you to the staff and I do hope things get better and the public treat them with respect while they are trying to keep hospitality alive and keep us all safe.

We booked South Place as it was our go to Hotel pre covid and we are so glad they haven't lost any of their fun, standards or quirks. Even after 18 months, they remembered and greeted us like old friends. This place is just a cut about the rest and our entire stay was faultless. 2 nights here just seemed too short and I felt like I was dragging my feet as we left. I could gush about South Place all day! Well done South Place for emerging from a challenging time even better than before! Cannot wait to come back! P.S the DJ on the Friday night was incredible!

We’ve just got home from such a fun weekend at South Place Hotel. The staff really couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and relaxed from the moment we arrived. There’s a lovely range of bars and restaurants in the hotel which meant we didn’t have to venture far our favourite was enjoying cocktails in the Secret Garden bar which had a buzzy atmosphere and great cocktail selection. The rooms are so chic and stylish, with lots of extra touches to make us feel even more special. We can’t wait to come back for another staycation!
