This is not a safe place to stay. We came as a group - stayed as a group - arrived checked in - they had insisted that we could only stay if we had their food - it was horrendous, to the point that the group refused to eat it. It was Lasagne that was in tin foil trays that looked like it was microwaved from lidl. WE also were told that we had to have it in 2 separate sittings before we arrived - we said no and they agreed that they would serve us as one - on arrival they simply ignored that and said it was for 2 sittings despite previously agreeing otherwise. The food is NOT hotel quality at all - the group refused to eat it and we had to pay for poor poor quality food - the next morning at 7AM the food was still on the hot plate - which had been turned off and was congealed - it had stood there all night. This breaks multiple health and safety rules. The night got worse we went out to the theatre - on our return one of our rooms which was full of males under 18 had a random woman in one of the beds - that the hotel had put there. When we challenged the night manager - he was more interested in checking a spreadsheet than removing her - he had to be forcibly told to move her - there was no female working so he went in eventually to do it. He spoke to her in a very rough manner telling her it was not her room - she showed him her key card - they had put her into the wrong room. The manager eventually had her removed - when we challenged him about how it had happened he tried to have us removed from the Hotel. only when we told him he had committed major safeguarding offences did he start to realise the mess that was caused. In the morning in a meeting with the manager he was told quite bluntly what a shambles they were his response was to "shut up and learn manners" We left we had to leave a security deposit by a pre pay card - the rooms were checked - there was no damage - they have since charged us £250 with NO EXPLANATION NO justification or NO consultation. This is NOT A SAFE PLACE TO STAY. They have no concept of safety or safeguarding , the staff simply want to check spreadsheets, have made up imaginary charges when they are challenged over serious safeguarding issues and cannot justify their actions. The food is horrendous and they left it out all night to congeal. Stay away!

Be warned. We stayed as a group of young people. I was party leader. We checked in. They told the group we could only stay if we took their food also. The food was tin wrapped lasagne that looked like it was from aldi or lidl. Our group refused to eat it. They also told us we had to split into 2 for the meal we said no they agreed to serve in one go.lo and behold they reneged on this when we arrived. The food is NOT hotel quality and quite frankly apalling. We went as a group to the theatre. On our return they had put a single woman into a room with 3 17 year old males from our group. An over sight they said. She was in bed when our lads came back. When the night manager was informed instead of immediately removing her he was more bothered about checking a spreadsheet. He had to be forcibly told to have the situation remedied. There was no female working there he had to go to a single woman in a room that was for 17 year olds and ask her to leave. His attitude was to immediately rell her in an agressive way she was in the wrong room. She wasnt and had the key card to prove it. She was woken up by him speaking in a manner that was not passive but agressive. She was quite flustered understandably and was given a different room. When he came down i took him to task about why and how it happened and why it was more important to check his spreadsheet than deal with it. He then tried to have me thrown out of the hotel for complaining. The next morning in a meeting with the manager he told me to shut up and learn manners. I pointed out quite forcably he was wrong to check the spreadsheet and should have been acting on a solution not reading and that him being forced to act and kot doingbit himself was totally inappropriate. It is very clear that this hotel has no clue about safeguarding, lacks any form of customer care and is not a safe place to stay. When leaving the meeting with the manager at 0712 am the food that the previous night at 5pm that was put out that our group refused to eat was still there congealed in the same place as it was left on the hot plate that had been turned off the night before. Not only do they ignore health and safety but also basic food hygiene rules as well. This hotel is not fit for purpose.

I reserved two beds in a room for 8 people from 06.10. to 09.10.2022. We've come to Safestay around 10:00 am and check in was in 3:00 pm so we had to leave are baggage in the hostel to go sightseeing. On their website is clearly stated that you can leave your bags in their lockers for 2£, however every locker was already occupied (I would also like to note that they have maybe 40 lockers for the whole hostel which clearly isn't enough). We had to leave our bags in a mailbox cca 200 m down the street and paid 10£ for it. We stayed from 06.-07.10. in room 21 and after coming to hostel later that evening all our stuff was gone. The room was cleaned and everything was emptied. I would like to note that we bought padlock on the reception to lock our stuff in the locker in room and that was also emptied. On the reception they called the supervisor and he laughed at us and told us that he doesn't have a clue where is our stuff. Also, he told us that we had to switch rooms after first night (to room 22). Nobody informed us about this when we've checked in. He was looking for our stuff around 45 minutes, he was extremly unprofessional and unpolite. Somebody moved our stuff to room 22 without informing anybody. Also, they have broken into our padlock in order to move our stuff. So please, be noted that the hostel also has acces key to your padlock!!! At the end of this horrible situation, supervisor said through laughter: "Sorry, not my fault." and left. To add on top of all of it, when my friend asked for a hair dryer they asked him to bring passport or ID. After going to the room to get an ID (it lasted maybe 2 minutes most) they have already gave away THE LAST hair dryer to somebody who got to the reception in these 2 minutes. Hostel is clean and affordable, but I woudn't recommend it to anyone. Your private stuff is not safe, staff is unprofessional and unpolite and that cost us a lot of stress and if we had a chance to book or rent another accommodation we deffinitely would have. In conclusion, this was the worst hostel and accommodation I have ever been to!

This is an oasis from what’s going on in the surrounding area: Well lit and appointed however check in is always a slow process I prefer to get checked in by a Young Lady named Akram who does her best whilst being overwhelmed with questions from quests and staff alike. some real oddballs rock up here which adds to the vibe 😎

Be aware. Staff are racist.. Staff are liars.. Staff are dishonest.. They discriminate on gender you are. They discriminate on you being a disabled guest as well.. They at times break the law.. A floor starts of AS a female ONLY dormitory but if the place gets full up and packed staff actually give guys keys to female ONLY dormitory. It's VERY scary this.. THE place ensures that a guy gets a lower bunk all the time for he's in a wheelchair. I'm a disabled user AS well with 2 crutch walking aides.. Staff deliberately give me a top bunk when they KNOW from last year I'm on 2 crutches. A MALE member of staff daliox lied and pretended to pay A £48 refund into my bank account last week Monday gone even deceptively showing me a FAKE receipt it's been sent. Up to now money NOT appeared in my account. It's scary AND dangerous how staff dealing with check ins, bookings, money and refunds along with bar purchases can LIE and deceive like this.

The worst hostel I’ve ever visited. Nowhere to store luggage, terrible security and immensely understaffed. Management was poorly organised, uninterested and rude. The crowded reception was constantly filled with unhappy and impatient clients (understandably so) which added to the negative atmosphere. I cannot think of a more unpleasant place to stay.

We traveled up to London to do some sightseeing and explore some of the family attractions with our children. Rather than travel the nearly 3 hours there and back in a day with over tired small children we decided to book this hotel last minute and make the most of the break with an overnight stay - so glad we did! Room, although basic, was more than adequate. Plenty of space and bunk beds were surprisingly comfy. There was also a separate shower room and toilet which again was more than adequate. We paid the additional £6 for breakfast which had a good continental style selection and we all started out our day of sightseeing and activities with full stomachs (and plenty of caffeine for mum and dad from the help yourself coffee machine!) The location was also great, just over a mile from all the main attractions and less than £10 in cab fair. There’s a Co-op shop right next door so easy to grab any last minute snacks or toiletries etc for the kids should you need to. This is nothing fancy but was ideal for us as a pit stop in between sightseeing, it had everything we needed and I must say was excellent value for money. Would definitely stay here again.

Late check in is a nightmare. The bald headed night staff is rude and reckless. He should be sacked for kicking women out of the hostel at the earliest hours of the morning. The area is unsafe at night. No one should be asked to walk the streets for needless reasons. During my check in, I watched this man treat women as if they were meaningless. I will not be recommending this hostel to anyone. Women, stay away.

A horrible experience there recently. When we arrived we and many people in long queue had masks on but there were NO MASKS on any of the staff .. The reception area is in filthy bar/lounge, it matched the common toilets and filthy room, the only thing clean seemed to be the hallways /corridor areas. During the 1 1/2 hours it took for us to checkin at the only reception area, when we had t return and asked to speak to a manager about our sheets being dirty and unchanged, he ( Pablo) , was very rude and arrogant and I had the feeling that he didn't really understand English, like many of the staff on duty there . It was a very uncomfortable and creepy experience absolutely no COVID precautions, no masks, no hand sani in common areas absolutely filthy property and very rude staff. Almost asked for a refund but would just rather forget ever being there .
