We stayed at Citizen M on a Friday night, arrived around 5pm and there was already a fantastic buzz in the lobby area, it's located in a really fun area, with lots of cool London types milling around. Citizen M is a great concept, it takes a lot of the fuss out of business travel, but keeps a lot of...

Hey citizenMatt, Thanks for the great review! You're right- we were created for that short stay in mind. A high-end design hotel for the tech-savvy, smart traveller. We've created a bit of a stir in the Bankside area since opening- and are a popular haunt for the local worker and resident alike. It's what helps create a real buzz in...

Very good hotel in a great location with loads of restaurants and bars nearby as well as most of the main London attractions. Not cheap but reasonably priced (for London). The rooms are fantastic with everything you could possibly need in a very well designed and small space. The bar area is also well designed and well equipped, Citizen M...

Hi Derek, Thank you for posting your thoughts online. I'm delighted to discover that you found our rooms great. With designer Vitra furniture, a powerful rain shower, the world's best bed and a smart tablet to control functionality to name but a few, we think they're the perfect place in which to crash after a long day out and about...

I only gave 4 stars for cleanliness because the cleaning schedule was a bit inconsistent during my 8 night stay. The common areas are modern, clean, and cozy. The rooms have everything you need and a spacious comfortable bed. Location is 5 minutes from southwark tube, 10 minutes from London bridge station, and 5 minutes to the delicious boroughs market....

I was a little skeptical about this concept. A "pod" hotel .. small room with a huge bed taking up around a third of the room. Luggage stored under the bed. "pod" for a shower and loo. But ... I LOVED it! The bed is mega comfy, the room feels airy, the tablet-control works well, it was quiet, quirky and...

We tried CitizenM as it was close to the Globe were we were due to see a play and handy for some other things we were doing in the Southwark area. The rooms are fun and funky with mood lighting and everything controlled from a tablet. The bed is huge even though the rooms are small (but it is trying...

We stayed at Citizen M for 2 nights, Totally at ease in the lounge areas. Very relaxing. Automated book in but plenty of staff to help. Room is plenty big enough. Enough storage space although only 5 hangers. Safe in room, small fridge, Powerful hairdryer, multi plug socket. Shower good size. Bed lovely and comfy, Samsung tablet controls everything from...

This was the first time staying at the hotel and the whole experience was simply wonderful. From arrival when the system of check in is so smooth and efficient it beats the normal line of people at the reception desk. Friendly staff are on hand should you need any assistance. The decor is funky, contemporary and fun. The rooms are...

Great location and handy to the Tate Modern and the Millenium Bridge over to St Pauls. Very convenient for walkers - close to Thames pathway network. If you have luggage, it is not super close to both undergrounds nearby - 10 minute walk to Southwark or Tower Bridge tube stations which is a bit of a pain to walk with...

After reading so many amazing reviews we decided to stay here for 3 nights for our weekend in London. Having never visited Southwark/Bankside area I was unsure as to what the area would be like but was pleasantly surprised. It's a 10 minute stroll to either Southwark or London Bridge tube stations, it's quiet in the Southwark direction but lively...

I held a business event at this hotel and also stayed over night. The whole concept of Citizen M is phenomenal! The bedrooms are small and perfectly formed and the meeting room facilities are spot...

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
