Double Tree by Hilton Excel London has gone down hill since I started there in 2021 & it now looks very tried out of date since Covid 19. It has but it prices of a hotel rooms are more expensive than it was before & I did enjoying having a Queen disability room because I had a talk in shower & I enjoyed hanging out in the bar and having a cocktail & hanging out with our people who were staying in the hotel.

Dear Trace, Thank you for sharing your feedback which will be shared with team. I am sorry that you found the room rates to be more expensive than previous years, but our rates are competitive to the market and would be more expensive on busier nights. On the contrary, the hotel has renovated its ground floor, restaurant and bar and is continuously investing and looking at other ways of enhancing our services and offerings. I am sorry this wasn’t recognised on your return visit. We hope to will have the pleasure of welcoming you back. kind regards, Jade Blasse Operations Manager

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed here a few years ago and were blown away by the hotel and it's wonderful staff. Ever since it's been super pricey so have found more affordable accommodation however this visit was extremely good value for money and we didn't hesitate in booking. The beds were exceptionally comfy and together with the air-conditioning and blackout curtains, we all slept very well. The breakfast was first class and the staff were all very attentive. The food in the bar was incredible too which we'd been a little unsure of due to reviews however it was far from "ding meal" standards. Everything was freshly cooked, beautifully presented and so reasonably priced. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the cleanliness was to a very high standard. We asked for an extra hour on top of our checkout time and this was given without a problem. The area itself is very quiet and for our aviation mad son, the occasional low flying aircraft was a dream. I should add that you don't hear any noise in the rooms. The airport is a very short walk away so this hotel, with its free parking, would be an ideal location for those using it. We'd like to send all the staff a very big thank for making our mini break so amazing!

I already posted this review when I was checked into the hotel so I decided to delete and add more after check out. We had a bit of a maintenance issue in our room when we arrived but maintenance team and reception went above and beyond to fix it. They were so kind and reassuring and even ‘compensated’ us for the issue. The compensation was later denied by the restaurant. Good beginning but this review has a 1 star and the restaurant are the reason why. They have lovely staff on reception (Sham, Andi, Sharon and Chelsea) and housekeeping (Joanna), so why is the restaurant staff so bad? From losing orders, demanding orders, cutting people off, passing me around, and serving tomatoes to someone they know is deathly allergic (I said this three times to everyone I spoke to). First day they lost our breakfast order and I called and asked room service about it they abruptly hanged up and then called again saying they never got the order and demanded it rudely over the phone; I repeated the order specifically everything and highlighting the allergy and my mother (who is the one allergic to tomatoes) received tomatoes and baked beans. The allergy is so severe, she couldn’t even eat around it since we knew everything had likely been contaminated. My order was just all wrong (for example I got brown toast instead of white with no butter - not the only issue). Later that day we came for dinner, was told we had to pay £25 per person for the buffet. We were sat in possibly the worst spot in the restaurant when it was basically empty (did not complain as there might be reservations coming - we didn’t made one) and the buffet was tiny (3 dishes available) and all contained tomatoes. We weren’t told this prior or even asked on the door or at the table for allergies. We weren’t given food or drink menus before a waiter came to take our order. We asked for a bottle of wine to be taken up to our room which was done, but one waiter made it sound next to impossible and as if I was asking for the Sun. That evening I called to place an order to room service for breakfast. Room service told me to call reception. Reception didn’t answer for nearly an hour. Reception finally answers and transfers me to room service. Room service tells me to call restaurant, I ask for the restaurant’s number, room service changes their mind and asks for my order. As I’m giving the order, they stop me mid way and tell me they have no idea what they are doing or anything about their menu. I’m done at this point, say goodbye before hanging up and making plans for breakfast somewhere else. The next morning, we ordered breakfast sadly because we could not find anywhere else. And guess what? More tomatoes for my mother who is deathly allergic. After I wrote all over the breakfast card TOMATO ALLERGY. Maybe they just aren’t able to alter it or remove anything, but it would be great if someone could tell us, if that is true. We went out for the day and I received a call asking permission to move our stuff in our room as we had checked out early. I never mentioned checking out early at all to any of the staff, so maybe they read this review and assumed we were doing so. But I had not told anyone in the hotel that we were checking out early, we had left all of our belongings in our room and had not asked about being refunded for the last night we had already paid for (anyone checking out early would definitely do so, especially with the rates they are paying). Anyway this call made me panicked and my mother and I left the event early and immediately returned to the hotel. Fortunately none of our stuff had been moved. I spoke Sharon on reception about this call and she told me she would make sure it was investigated z This hotel is already at such a high price for so little, but the reception team make up for this with their caring and friendly attitude, but then are immediately let down by the restaurant staff with their rudeness and unpleasantness. I beg the hotel to rehire the restaurant staff and actually train them on the menus and allergies. Every restaurant I worked in had to do this, it was mandatory, and they weren’t even as fancy as Hilton hotels. I hope this bad review doesn’t take away from the amazing staff on reception and the maintenance department. They are the best part of this hotel and should be given all the awards. Once again another big thank you to Sham, Andi, Sharon and Chelsea. There was one waiter/bartender who was great as well, only hospitality member who was kind and good at his job, I’m quite sad I was unable to get his name before leaving so I could properly thank him.

My daughter and myself have stayed here a few times. The rooms are standard, but the beds are fantastic. There is a lot of issues with the restaurant but I will start with the good points. Andi and Sharon on reception are lovely. Helpful, and take time with me as I have a physical disability. Can't rate them enough. Jo (Joanne) in housekeeping, fantastic. Can't do enough for me and is always happy like Andi. Those 3 alone makes your stay. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the restaurant staff. I have a rare allergy and my daughter and myself make it clear to everyone. I am allergic to tomatoes. Every morning for breakfast I have tomatoes on my breakfast plate!! Clearly not reading the form we filled in every night for breakfast. My daughter doesn't eat meat and she had sausages and bacon and tomatoes on her breakfast plate!!! The restaurant staff are rude and grumpy. Most clearly don't want to be there and they stared at me and my daughter. Every time we had wine for dinner they would stare. If you want to check my daughter's age ask!! Don't stare. Even on our last night my daughter's dad joined us. He felt totally uncomfortable and asked why was everyone staring and I said they think our daughter is under age but drinking and he said why don't they check and ask, she has her I. D. on her. I said they don't, they just stare. My daughter does look young for her age, so she used to bejng asked to prove hee age which is why she always carries her ID. They should just ask for it instead of staring. The restaurant definitely have loads of problems and they are all unhappy in their job. But the good parts were; Sharon, Andi, Chelsea, Joanne and Sham. I hope they are properly thanked and rewarded for their excellent service. I'd like to also add that Sharon helped us during our last stay in October 2022 as well.

We stayed here for 5 days/ 4 nights for a business trip, and here is my feedback: Pros: breakfast was nice (English breakfast basically) They had chips and apples at the reception for everyone to enjoy. The room service were quite quick to bring what we ask for. Housekeeping lady was nice. Cons: WHAT is wrong with the STAFF! Feels like they are allergic to smiling, none of the reception team smiled during our whole stay, and the attitude they give while talking is impeccable! The lady seating us for breakfast doesn’t even look at us and 90% of the restaurant team wasn’t welcoming nor smiling. NO FRIDGE until you ask and they bring it next working day. Room service cleans the bathroom, change the towels and place new tea/ coffee and leaves, they don’t make the beds, clean the used cups, vacuum .. etc, maybe coz I was in the room, but still they could work around me. The list of cons goes on and on, specially that rooms were as expensive as 5 star hotel in central London (as few event were going on at the same time), so value for money… completely not worth it, never again.

I stayed here for 1 night for a concert, i was suggested this hotel by a friend but i was disappointed. Bar advertises closes at midnight. The bar started packing away at 11 and people kept arriving for drinks but the staff was getting annoyed, completely closed by 11.30. The decor in the rooms and bathrooms need updating. I stayed in the Hampton by Hilton next door the night before and it was 10 times better. For the money stay next door

This place has the following 1. Dog friendly rooms but restaurant and bar are not dog friendly, and yet you can’t leave your pet unattended in the room. There is nice patio outside the restaurant, and I wish that they would have put tables outside as well. 2. Nice gym, with peloton. 3. Very friendly receptionist, good selection of snacks on the reception. 4. Quiet rooms, despite being dog friendly. 5. Clean 6. Reasonable parking charges 7. Walking distance to DLR 8. Beds is not very comfortable.
