Reception and bar area very relaxing and the breakfast was very good
Ideal location for our trip to the ABBA Voyage show
Would definitely stay here again
The hotel is a great location and one that I have stayed in and returned to a number of times before. Unfortunately, when I first looked to book the hotel's popularity and location meant it was fully booked and we had booked to stay at The Ark Canary Wharf. The welcome we received there was completely the opposite, having received an email from the hotel stating children could stay but have to be accompanied by an adult. On arrival the receptionist and then manager informed me that we could not stay even though my son was 14 and would do nothing but refund us and leave us without a place to stay. Hotel.com called them to discuss and informed them of the children accompanied by an adult policy, but the manager who had no empathy was adamant that we could not stay.
So the moral of our story is: STAY at the Crown Plaza with it's amazing staff and welcome, and AVOID The Ark Canary Wharf with it rude, arrogant staff that make you feel completely unwelcome and leave upu without a bed for the night.
From the moment we arrived, the welcome we received did not live up to the hotel's reputed standards. The receptionist who checked us in lacked the courtesy and warmth one would expect. Upon entering our room (2002), any semblance of cleanliness promised by the signage at the front door was shattered. Holes in the duvet cover, stained pillowcases, and noticeable dust accumulation in plain sight left us dismayed. Even the utensils showed signs of previous use, adding to our disappointment.
The biggest letdown was the discrepancy between the room's actual condition and the picturesque portrayal online. Despite expressing our concerns at reception, the offered room change provided no improvement. Determined to salvage our holiday, we proceeded to our scheduled event, only to encounter further shortcomings.
The lackluster service extended to the spa, where inquiries were met with vague responses due to staff unavailability. Our overnight experience was further marred by a disruptive fire alarm incident, inadequately addressed by staff.
Attempts to rectify minor issues, such as requesting additional towels and a bath mat, were met with incompetence. Even basic communication with reception proved challenging, as evident from an abruptly terminated call and background disturbances.
Departing the following morning for an early flight, we found the checkout process lacking in efficiency and professionalism. Despite our concerns, we left without a proper receipt, relying on the promise of an email confirmation.
In retrospect, our overall experience at the Crowne Plaza was far from satisfactory, highlighting significant shortcomings in service delivery and attention to guest satisfaction.
The room was spotless (5016), with an amazing view during the night. The bed and sofa very comfortable.
We used the swimming pool facilities as well, and the staff were very polite and happy to provide the necessary instructions. It did feel very safe for our young kids to use the swimming pool. Hopefully next time we visit I will have the time to do one of the treatments they provide.
We met the Head of Housekeeping, Mrs Adriana if I remember her name correctly, who kindly advised that when we needed the sofa ready for the kids to call reception...indeed they came within a few minutes to prepare it.
The check out process was quick without any issues.
Thank you for looking after us. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Also next door to a Tesco Express which is useful.
The average: You are on the flight path to London City airport - that said, the flights don't seem to be often, not starting too early or late, and the planes are not wide bodied so don't make too much noise with the windows closed. The two smallish lifts in a decent sized hotel get very busy. Every time I used them, they had to stop at every floor and people had to wait for another lift due to congestion. Breakfast was average - juices tasted watered down and the selections for hot and cold food were average - certialy average for a £260 a night (bed only) hotel.
