The Crowne Plaza London Docklands is often celebrated for its cleanliness and welcoming vibe, making it a comforting retreat for visitors. While the location wins plaudits for its tranquility and easy access to London's hotspots, opinions on value are mixed; some guests consider the hotel well-priced, whereas others think it could offer more bang for their buck. The hotel's amenities generally meet guests' expectations, but there's a call for improvements in the spa and pool areas. Room experiences vary, with many finding them to be spacious havens, while a few report issues with upkeep and noise. Service is consistently commended, with staff members receiving accolades for their warm and efficient manner, despite isolated feedback about slower service.

The welcome we received from Vivien, Wiktoria, Lilia and Rita was amazing. Straight away we were made to feel welcome and they couldn't do enough for us.

The hotel is a great location and one that I have stayed in and returned to a number of times before. Unfortunately, when I first looked to book the hotel's popularity and location meant it was fully booked and we had booked to stay at The Ark Canary Wharf. The welcome we received there was completely the opposite, having received an email from the hotel stating children could stay but have to be accompanied by an adult. On arrival the receptionist and then manager informed me that we could not stay even though my son was 14 and would do nothing but refund us and leave us without a place to stay. Hotel.com called them to discuss and informed them of the children accompanied by an adult policy, but the manager who had no empathy was adamant that we could not stay.

So the moral of our story is: STAY at the Crown Plaza with it's amazing staff and welcome, and AVOID The Ark Canary Wharf with it rude, arrogant staff that make you feel completely unwelcome and leave upu without a bed for the night.

The perfect hotel! Extremely comfy bed, excellent customer service throughout, EV charging. The lady supervising early breakfast was very friendly and welcoming, the cleaners and maintenance were very enthusiastic, reception and spa reception were exceptional. Good layout with convenient lifts and the option to take the stairs. Breakfast included poached eggs, good black pudding, as well as sun dried tomatoes. If they had had Greek yogurt as well I would give the whole place ‘heaven’ rating!

During our two-night stay at the Crowne Plaza with my friends in a double room, we encountered a series of disappointments that marred our experience from check-in to check-out. Despite the smooth booking process on booking.com and the enticing pictures, the reality fell far short of our expectations. As individuals with backgrounds in hospitality management, we were particularly attuned to the level of professionalism and attention to detail expected in such establishments.

From the moment we arrived, the welcome we received did not live up to the hotel's reputed standards. The receptionist who checked us in lacked the courtesy and warmth one would expect. Upon entering our room (2002), any semblance of cleanliness promised by the signage at the front door was shattered. Holes in the duvet cover, stained pillowcases, and noticeable dust accumulation in plain sight left us dismayed. Even the utensils showed signs of previous use, adding to our disappointment.

The biggest letdown was the discrepancy between the room's actual condition and the picturesque portrayal online. Despite expressing our concerns at reception, the offered room change provided no improvement. Determined to salvage our holiday, we proceeded to our scheduled event, only to encounter further shortcomings.

The lackluster service extended to the spa, where inquiries were met with vague responses due to staff unavailability. Our overnight experience was further marred by a disruptive fire alarm incident, inadequately addressed by staff.

Attempts to rectify minor issues, such as requesting additional towels and a bath mat, were met with incompetence. Even basic communication with reception proved challenging, as evident from an abruptly terminated call and background disturbances.

Departing the following morning for an early flight, we found the checkout process lacking in efficiency and professionalism. Despite our concerns, we left without a proper receipt, relying on the promise of an email confirmation.

In retrospect, our overall experience at the Crowne Plaza was far from satisfactory, highlighting significant shortcomings in service delivery and attention to guest satisfaction.

We had the opportunity to visit CPD last week (4-5 April), and to spend one night with our family at the hotel. From the moment we arrived we felt the welcoming environment and cheerful front office ladies, who directed us to the restaurant area for a light lunch for the kids while waiting for the check in (we did arrive a bit earlier). The kids enjoyed their pizza and chips while we enjoyed the beautiful view.
The room was spotless (5016), with an amazing view during the night. The bed and sofa very comfortable.
We used the swimming pool facilities as well, and the staff were very polite and happy to provide the necessary instructions. It did feel very safe for our young kids to use the swimming pool. Hopefully next time we visit I will have the time to do one of the treatments they provide.
We met the Head of Housekeeping, Mrs Adriana if I remember her name correctly, who kindly advised that when we needed the sofa ready for the kids to call reception...indeed they came within a few minutes to prepare it.
The check out process was quick without any issues.

Thank you for looking after us. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon!

I recently stayed here for the first time with my family. My sister chose this hotel as parking was available, however when we arrived there were no parking spaces at all, as we were informed that the car park is also public. My sister therefore had to drive to the Excel car park nearby. Due to this inconvenience however the reception staff at the hotel kindly gave us free drinks vouchers which were appreciated. Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. There was a great selection of items for breakfast, however two members of my family are gluten-free and have Coeliac Disease. Whilst some hot breakfast items were gluten-free such as the bacon and eggs, it would be great if more items could have been, such as the sausages and hash browns. There is a lovely pool and fitness facilities and the location is great for the Excel and we really enjoyed the cable cars nearby with fantastic views of the city. There is a Tesco Express nearby which was very useful and there is a fantastic Lebanese restaurant across the street. Room service was automatic daily which was excellent. The room was clean, spacious, with ironing facilities and I enjoyed having a bath and a shower. Overall a very nice hotel. The only downside was the parking.

The good: great staff, decent location, a short walk from the DLR station and a cable car ride to the 02 Arena. Decent view from the front of the hotel, the TVs have the ability to mirror / cast your phone content, great for watching Netflix or similar. Aircon worked very well and quiet - not often that you get both in a British hotel. The ordered poached eggs were perfect. Breakfast was only £14.99, not a bargain in real terms but cheaper than a lot of London hotels - but see breakfast comment below).
Also next door to a Tesco Express which is useful.
The average: You are on the flight path to London City airport - that said, the flights don't seem to be often, not starting too early or late, and the planes are not wide bodied so don't make too much noise with the windows closed. The two smallish lifts in a decent sized hotel get very busy. Every time I used them, they had to stop at every floor and people had to wait for another lift due to congestion. Breakfast was average - juices tasted watered down and the selections for hot and cold food were average - certialy average for a £260 a night (bed only) hotel.

Expected a lot more, never had to pay a GBP50 deposit which I get back in a week at any good 4/5 star hotel, had the feel of a 2 or 3 star hotel, rooms and bathroom look tired (cant believe they still have modem sockets! haven't been used for 20 years!) smells like you're at your local swimming pool when you arrive and disappointed that the Spa no longer operates since covid......odd because all other 4/5 star hotels I have stayed at in UK have their Spa's open. Stood waiting at the bar for 10 minutes while the waiters were being served first without even a nod or be with you soon.....smallest shower cubicle in a hotel room I have ever experienced could barely move and I had a junior suite! plus shower fittings were falling off and looked like a shower you buy for £10 on amazon)......if I had paid £75 would have been acceptable but EUR450 expected alot more!

I just feel the pictures of the swimming pool areas are not a true reflection of the facilities they have. Charging too much money for quite a poor service. The dryer was spinning massive amounts of water in the female changing rooms. A lack of cleaning and attention to the corners of the wet areas, the ceiling is broken just a real let down. We travelled far for this experience and felt like we were at a more budget hotel. They did not allow us to eat food from outside at the ground floor. Inside the disabled room we had it was quite grubby around the sides, no soap in dispensers and the drain was blocked over night it’s a wet room! The draining is important. We asked the manager to send maintenance up to the room he never came. The lifts are very slow. Staff are not welcoming at the spa areas. A few young black sisters at Reception shower excellent customer service. For us, Air BnB is the way forward as hosts actually care about customers, reviews and standards

We stayed here for one night, I am an IHG one rewards member, and I always enjoy my stays in Birmingham and Nottingham. However this stay was not good at all. The food in the hotel for our evening meal and breakfast was not good at all. The pizza had a very thick base, and we ordered chicken and Peperoni as toppings the chicken i could not find. There was so little on it.my wife ordered nachos, and when they came out, the cheese had congealed and gone cold again we ordered chicken on the nachos, and it was also hard to find. Thie kids.Pizza wasn't even worth eating. I told the staff my kids didn't eat the Pizza and they just asked if I wanted it boxed and took payment. Plus the swimming pool has restrictions on when children can swim even at weekends. So overall not great place to stay..

Dear Darren, I'm truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience at the hotel, especially considering your positive stays at other IHG locations. The quality of food and service you encountered during your stay fell well below expectations, and that's unacceptable. Your feedback regarding the food quality, particularly the pizza and nachos, as well as the restrictions on children's swimming times, will be shared with the management to address these issues. I hope this incident doesn't deter you from considering IHG hotels in the future, and I truly hope we can make it up to you with a better experience next time.
