We chose the Arriva Hotel as it is near Kings Cross and the reviews were mostly positive. We had a twin room which was extremely small and basic which is what we expected from the reviews and it was ready for us on our arrival. The room was dirty, there was grit/soil on the carpet which was only evident (due... More

If you have no other choice than taking this hotel, then it's fine....but it is not very good. Firstly when you enter the hotel you are confronted with a step, so forget about wheelchair access, and a door that is awkward to open when you're dragging a suitcase, however it is a old property. Check in was ok, but asking... More

Location near station is good. We had a double room ensuite, it was extremely small and dated. The bathroom was the same, very poor shower and grubby. Luggage room had no security, when we went back to collect our luggage ten hours later we just walked into the room and took our luggage, no questions asked and different staff member there, we could... I had a very comfortable couple of nights there coming through on my way back to the states from Edinburgh. Booking.com had glitched on me and booked the room twice at a non-refundable rate, but the manager happily refunded the second booking. The room was clean and comfortable - spartan but nicer than I expected for the price. I found... More

Very basic but clean hotel. We had the quadruple room so 4 of us stayed in centre of London for an affordable prices. Had no complaints, it's just not got the wow factor. Staff very friendly and helpful . We didn't have breakfast in hotel. Parking was easy to find.

Great location as we were heading out on the Euro Star the next day however I would probably prefer to stay at the station than stay here again. We were placed in the basement and it felt like a dungeon. I doubt the room had been updated for over twenty years and it felt and looked dirty. Thankfully the local... More

This hotel is very handy for King's Cross/ St Pancras stations. Very friendly staff. Smallish rooms but separate bathroom and everything you need. Was very hot but used the fan provided and drew back the secondary double glazing window. Wasn't as noisy as I expected. Although no cooked breakfast, the items on offer were perfectly adequate and good value at... More

I booked this last minute as I had an early morning Eurostar to catch. Positives first, very close to Euston and St Pancras, so no taxi required. Very quick to check in and staff on reception pleasant. I was not expecting much, but the rooms very tired and basic, The room doors were very thin and did not feel very... More

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighborhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
