This is a classic hotel with beautiful public rooms, a very professional and attentive staff, an exceptional location, and very comfortable guest rooms. Our room was not ready when we arrived in the morning, but we registered and left our bags with the bellman. When we returned a few hours later, the bags were in our room. Breakfast was very good, with lots of coffee, and a huge assortment of hot and cold items to select from. The location was excellent for the attractions we were most interested in visiting. It was a five or six minute walk to Westminster Abbey, add a minute to Parliament, and another five minutes to Buckingham palace. There are many Pubs and restaurants in the area. Our room was much larger than we expected. It had a view of the courtyard, but it was still quiet. The bed was comfortable. Wi-fi was strong. The bath was a bit small, but we worked it out. The manager’s reception was a nice surprise, with complementary wine several nights. We visited the bar each night and had great service from very friendly bartenders. If you are traveling with kids, make sure you take them to the Bee Terrace. It is very educational. I would not hesitate to go back to this hotel.

UK hotel reviews This review is geared towards marriott titanium elite members. Along with many marriott travelers, I rely heavily on TripAdvisor reviews when selecting my hotels. When I travel to a city I first find the Marriott hotels in the locations that I want then cross reference them with TripAdvisor reviews, keyword searching elite. I read reviews by titanium elite members for each of the hotels then choose my hotel based on their reviews of how titanium status is acknowledged at these properties (it matters!). I’ve always appreciated when others took the time to leave reviews so I thought I would reciprocate and review three marriott linked properties in the UK that we stayed at this past week- St. Pancras Renaissance in London, The Abbey Hotel in Bath, and St. Ermins in London. I’m going to compare these three at the same time as we stayed at all of them within the same week- summer peak season where upgrades may be in issue- with Renaissance and St Ermins check-ins both on busy weekends- and while using points for all stays. I debated whether to include the Abbey in this review with the two other London hotels but decided to do so since a high volume of travelers to London also go to Bath. I’ll try to divide by room upgrades, room size, benefits/amenities, and service. Room upgrade St. Pancras. Due to our status we were upgraded to a beautiful large suite in the Chambers section, in the historic part of the hotel and linked to their Chambers Club, where breakfast, afternoon and evening drinks as well as small bites were served daily to club members only. It was a very quiet room, I never heard the opening and closing of other doors or neighbors talking in adjacent rooms. The Abbey. We were also upgraded to their largest suite on a high floor overlooking the town square. It was lovely and also surprisingly quiet despite being in the center of town. We could hear the opening and closing of other doors nearby our room. St. Ermins. We were told immediately upon check-in we could not be upgraded. We received a small room with a queen sized bed on the fifth floor. It was a quiet room in general however we could hear our neighbors talking at 2am and heard the opening and closing of doors nearby. Room description. St. Pancras. The suite was huge and beautiful. There were three of us traveling- my son (12), husband and myself. The ceilings were between 14-16 ft tall with intricate detailing showcasing the age and grandness of the hotel in such a magnificent way. As a titanium elite traveler who averages 100 stays a year, you do not typically get to stay in such beautiful and historic rooms like this. The main room had a king sized bed, a large fireplace (not in service), large round table, two chairs, huge tv above a bar area with a fully stocked fridge/bar and a oversized sitting lounge chair. Tall windows almost to the ceiling spanned across one wall of the room. There were USB outlets by both bed stands and on the table was another entire configuration of charging outlets, including a US outlet. The second room, connected by a closing door, was like a sitting room with a desk and chair and had a nespresso machine and all the tea services, biscuits as well as closet. This additional room was big enough to have another bed placed for our son. The bathroom was quite large as well, with beautiful white marble, with a completely separate soaking tub in addition to a free standing shower. This amount of space was incredible for any stay, and almost unheard of for a city like London. The only thing lacking in this room was the lighting at night. Everything else about this room was fantastic. The Abbey. This suite, although one room, was quite spacious and well appointed as well, with a full sized couch (fold out to queen bed) and a king sized bed, sitting area with mirror and desk, and separate coffee station and closet combo. The high floor with beautiful view overlooking the square was also a very nice upgrade. Bathroom had a combo tub/shower and was well appointed. Their bath products were fantastic and my favorite of the three- very spa-like. St. Ermins. I was told immediately that we would not be upgraded, and this was by far the smallest room. We received a standard room with a queen bed with only a small space to move around the bed. A small desk with chair was there but no sitting area, and a coffee station was placed in the closet fixture. There was a French press for coffee along with tea offerings. The bathroom was also small with a tub/shower combo. Lighting was good in this room. The room was well decorated. It was just very small, as noted in other reviews. To summarize the rooms, all three hotels were in great locations. The subway station was right at St. Pancras hotel and St. James Park underground was a block from St. Ermins. Abbey hotel was perfectly located a five minute walk from the train station and in the center of town. All in all, for Titanium room upgrades the Abbey and St Pancras won over St. Ermins and St Pancras hit it way out of the park with their incredible upgrade to a room of large size and historic grandeur. I would stay here over and again based on this upgrade alone. Thank goodness we stayed here five nights. The space was wonderful. Amenities. At titanium level, we always receive a free breakfast and access to any club levels if one exists in the property. St. Pancras had a beautiful and exclusive Chairman’s Club with beautiful lounge seating that was open all the time for club level only guests, with breakfast served daily. In the afternoon they had an extensive “small bites” offerings of breads, cheeses, two kinds of salads, desserts, and at least three hot items. In addition, they offered complimentary wine and beer from 5-8p daily. The Club was always quiet and had a very relaxed and upscale vibe. Had the exclusive feel. My husband and my son played endless games of chess there during our several night stay. Breakfast was plentiful with fresh fruits, pastries, smoked salmon, several hot food offerings, yogurts, cereals and pastries. The only negative about this is that nothing changed daily about this breakfast, which is something I feel could be improved on for longer staying guests. The Abbey hotel did not have a lounge. It’s a small hotel. However, they had an adorable bistro type restaurant downstairs where we had our free breakfasts. We could order anything we wanted off the menu. They served the best cappuccinos of the three hotels and their ala carte offerings were expansive and delicious, so although it wasn’t a buffet it was just as fantastic, in my opinion. St. Ermin’s also did not have a club lounge, however they also had a really lovely spread for breakfast in their charming restaurant. Breakfast offerings were similar to St. Pancras but in addition you could order eggs to your style. They also had an afternoon happy hour from 530-630 Mon-Fri for anyone staying at the hotel, not just elite members. There was complimentary beer and wine and also juice and popcorn for the kids. It was a very different vibe than the quiet and exclusive Chairman’s club. They had live music on the patio and there were a LOT of people at this event. It was very casual, festive, vibrant, and very family friendly. My son met other kids and they played chess together during the happy hour. It stated there was cheese offerings but I didn’t see anything but popcorn. Very different feel from Chambers Club but equally wonderful in my opinion. So all in all, with regards to the happy hour/food amenities, St. Pancras also takes this trophy because they also had multiple small bite offerings in the evening for the Chambers guests and their “happy hour” lasted for three hours, but St. Ermins was second with their vibrant happy hour with live music and great breakfasts. In the other amenities category, St Pancras had a full service spa as well as a pool and hot tub with children’s hours. Neither of the other hotels had this. Service This is the one area where I feel the service was not commensurate with St. Pancras’s other offerings. Caveat- we only ate at the Club so cannot comment on the restaurant service, only club service, which was unfortunately hit and miss in my opinion. In the evenings, if you wanted a drink, you had to ask an attendant who was serving all the other guests at the same time. There’s a bar area with drinks and even if you are literally at the bar and an attendant is also at the bar you at the same time I would have to ask for a drink and they would say they would deliver it to our table. I didn’t understand why they couldn’t just pour and serve the drink right there when we were both standing together and the drinks were literally right in front of us, seems most efficient. Using this format, it would often take a while to get a drink. At many of the other clubs, like in San Francisco and at the Ritz club in Hungary etc, there was a no-host bar or someone attending immediately. Here, often we would order a drink and it would take up to 20 minutes to get it, then we would have to get up again and go to the bar to ask for the drink again and we would receive the same response that they would deliver it to our table, and they seemed somewhat off-put that we were asking them again. I got the feeling that they felt understaffed even though it never seemed very crowded. We stayed several nights and this format did not change throughout our stay. At the happy hour at St. Ermins, someone was always at their bar area serving drinks. Another service hiccup at St. Pancras happened with room turnover. There was one occasion where we requested room turnover then left for a couple of hours. When we returned the room was untouched. We called again and they said they would send someone right away. We then went to the pool for a couple of hours and when we returned our room was still untouched. We called again and once again they said they would send someone right away. We then went down to the club for drinks and food for a couple of hours and when we returned we still did not have our room turned. This was minor issues but nevertheless, when it comes to service it was not commensurate with the rest of our hotel stay or at the level one would expect at a hotel like this. Comparatively at St. Ermins, although the lady at St. Ermins hotel was quite cold compared to our bubbly and hospitable check-in attendant at St. Pancras, the service at St. Ermins after check-in was consistently immediate, warm and welcoming. The service at the Abbey Hotel was fantastic as well and they even had our luggage waiting in our room for us that afternoon since the room was not ready when we arrived. So with regards to consistent service, The Abbey and St. Ermins takes the trophy over St. Pancras due to their consistency. To summarize, if I were to stay in London again, although the service had hiccups I would choose St Pancras again for all of the upgrades and amenities offered for titanium elite members at this hotel. I felt they really made it clear that they valued titanium elite status. St. Ermins is lovely as well however they did not seem to recognize Titanium elite guests like St. Pancras did. I would absolutely stay at the Abbey Hotel when in Bath. They were a fantastic property in every way and they also valued the titanium status to the best of their ability. I hope this review helps future travelers!

Dear sandrasW78877JU, Thank you for your review and I'm glad you find our service and happy hour events added to your vacation. I'm sorry we could not upgrade you on this occasion. Demand in London is through the roof this summer and whilst we always try to offer upgrades it is not always possible. We have eight room types with many larger family rooms and suites to suit any size party. Hope to see you next time you're in London.

We found the perfect spot for our first trip to London - even tho' the trip did not go as planned. My husband dealt with an illness while there, and the staff could not have been kinder. Asked how he was feeling, called to ask if we needed anything, etc. Beyond that, once he was better, the hotel is in an amazing location as far as walking to some pubs/restaurants, and many of the top attractions, as well as the tube and the hop-on, hop-off bus stop. Room was clean and comfy (bathroom is a little small), hotel is quiet, and all staff were friendly, helpful, professional and efficient. Ben, in the restaurant/bar area was always at the ready to get what you needed, and always smiling. All the bartenders (whose names I don't remember) were on top of things (I needed my evening wine while waiting for my hubby to recoup)!. Also, after adjusting our plans, and staying 3 extra days, the front desk/manager kindly kept our rate at the original, even tho' it had gone up considerably, based on our circumstance. Would highly recommend this hotel!!

Great location and wonderful facilities. Staff are professional and accommodating. We lost an ipad and Mario Caides went above and beyond to assist us with locating it with our phone. And on top of that he did it after his workday had ended, in a very professional manner. Our stay was extended one day due to a hurricane back home and the hotel staff made us feel welcomed and accomodating for the extra day.

We actually stayed twice during our visits to London. Two nights in August and one night in September. The staff is wonderful! The bellmen and front desk personnel were on top of their game. We were very fortunate to get into our room early, which helped us to enjoy more of London. The rooms are a bit smaller than an average American hotel, but was very comfortable, with all the amenities you could ask for. The breakfast buffet was very good as well as a late room service meal we had. The hotel is located in Victoria, with the Tube station just a few steps away. This is not a cheap ticket, but well worth it if you are traveling to London.

Best experience at a hotel ever..we travel frequently and are both 70 yrs. The cleanliness, attention, location , and knowledge and sincere friendliness of all staff was top- notch and beyond reproach !! In the restaurant, Mr Nahin runs a wonderful ship of remarkable servers and is a well- liked and respected leader! Hafid, Ramos, and Marianna were very professional - and so kind. Started our every day with a smile.. Juan was so very helpful and knowledgeable as our concierge- esp during such a unique and busy time (Queen’s funeral) We will return - and will let our friends and family know what an incredible experience we had with you!! I spent six nights at the St. Ermin and everyone one of them was perfect. As is often mentioned, the staff was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, greeted me and were happy to help. I was able to sneak in last minute for a wonderful tea and also had dinner in the bar which was very good. The location is perfect for exploring the city and the underground station is steps away. I highly recommend a stay here!
