Let me start by saying that on booking we had been informed that the hotel is undergoing renovation works and that we may experience some inconvenience. When we arrived there was a makeshift reception area on the first floor. Breakfast was a Grab'n Go set up in a meeting room, boxed cereals, croissants, mini muffins etc. You had to bring the food back and eat it in your room. We just had the feeling like we were staying in more like a hostel than a hotel. I must add that I don't think I'll book a room in a Holiday Inn Express anymore as the rooms are so cramped. We booked 2 rooms as we are a family of 5, kids are 17,14 and 12 and prefer their own space. Even with the kids in one and us in the other, there was very little room to move around in either room. The sofa bed was down in our room and as we didn't need it we went to fold it back in and the carpet underneath looked like it had never been vacuumed. We actually put it back down. I can see how the Holiday Inn Express might suit a business person on an overnight stay but it's not really suitable for a family staying for a few nights. On a positive note the Wetherspoons pub next to the hotel has a good range of food and we found Hammersmith a great location to stay in as it is served by both the Piccadilly and District lines.

Yes I knew about the building work when I booked. Even had a call to remind me. What I didn’t know was how utterly unwelcoming the staff were.... almost too much trouble to greet us on check in.... the temporary reception looked very temporary.... To ‘have’ to pay for breakfast in the price and be told it was ‘grab and go’ I find disappointing. Not something I would want to eat.... we didn’t bother... surely better during this renovation work it would be better to reduce the price? Plenty of places nearby to find breakfast. Room was fine (pillows - seemed to be foam - were hard). I won’t return....

Hi Bardingley, Thanks for the review. We're pleased to see that you were informed of the exciting refurbishment in advance of your stay. We're making the final touches in our new-look reception, bar and lounge and we'll unveil the changes very soon! It's really disappointing to see that we did not give you the great first impression and customer service that we aim for. If you would like to provide any further feedback around this, please email gm@expresshammersmith.co.uk. We appreciate that a lot of our guests enjoy a hot start to the day, though we wanted to make sure everyone could still enjoy fuel for their busy days ahead. With this in mind, we decided to offer an enhanced continental selection, with pastries, yoghurts, fruit, cereals and more. We'd love for you to visit us again to see the makeover for yourself! Best wishes, Lindsey

I was in London for a brief business visit and chose Holiday Inn Express, Hammersmith, given its proximity to my office. Location of the hotel is on the King Street so besides being close to the station it was also close to numerous restaurants like Nandos or Subway, shopping areas etc. There’s a pub adjoining to the hotel premises as well. The rooms are small but adequate, cosy and equipped with everything one will expect from a budget business hotel like internet connectivity, comfortable bed, a TV and a tea/coffee maker set. What I liked is that the hotel provides skimmed milk sachets instead of dairy powder that made the coffee taste better. The hotel premises, mainly the front area, is under the renovation. Although it didn’t cause any nuisance such as noise, it did mean entering the hotel was bit challenging through a side door especially while carrying heavy luggage. Breakfast hall was shut too, but hotel ensured room delivery of grab n go breakfast in the room as per prescribed timing. Breakfast spread was limited like cereals, croissant, danish, fruits etc. I would have preferred hot/warm breakfast although I what they offered wasn’t bad either. Overall I quiet liked the place and found it to be value for money. Staff interaction, whenever we needed one, was pleasant and professional. I will not mind choosing this place next time I am visiting for business. Hopefully the renovated place would be ready by then to really leverage its full value.

Attended here for an overnight stay due to being in the white city area for business. To get to the hotel from Euston Square it takes around 25 minutes on the circle line. From the tube takes around 10 mins walk up the high street where there are coffee shops and Nando’s 5 mins away. The hotel itself is attached to a Wetherspoons. The hotel is currently being refurbished which on check in you are given a letter explaining the modifications to the breakfast area etc. On check in as a good Will offering you are offered a free drink of your choice (alcoholic or none alcoholic) which can be taken to the room because there is no other place to drink it. Breakfast is provided in the rooms and ordered by placing a breakfast request of items on your door before midnight. To be honest this was a good idea but the quality of the food is the same for any holiday inn express - poor and cheap quality - consisting of cereal, danish, croissants, instant porridge and instant coffee, water and a carton of milk with either an apple or banana. If you want a hot breakfast maybe just go to the pub attached to this hotel but I would give the breakfast order a miss. The rooms are the usual cheap and basic standard which was expected. I was on the third floor and from leaving the lift you could smell an odour which I think was from the carpets that either need cleaning or replacing - yuck. The hotel itself was quiet and the refurbishment according to the letter is only for February 2020. The staff were all very welcoming but I would only stay in this hotel again if the refurbishment and odour was a vast improvement.
