NUMBER OF ROOMS
Positives - 1) Room is in Central London 2) Breakfast buffet was varied, including a pancake machine Negatives - 1) Had booked a twin room, but receptionist told us that we were booked into a double and that we were lucky that they had enough rooms to give us the room we had booked 2) The bathroom shower was more of a trickle than anything else. 3) There was a questionable white stain on the armchair 4) The room was boiling at night, but the aircon was too loud, so either melt or no sleep 5) There were too many moths in the room. One on the bed, one in the cupboard, at least one in the bathroom, on the towels, made my skin crawl, and too paranoid to sleep properly Probably wouldn't stay here again.
I use HI hotels regularly for business and this is the second time I have stayed here. Last time the stay was average but on this occasion we used it for a base for my 50th birthday treat to see Les Miserables and received an upgrade, a lovely bottle of merlot and message from the hospitality manager - the staff at the reception were very pleasant and in the bar. All in all, a great night away. 😊
Stayed here for a weekend break. This hotel is approx 10 minutes easy walking to Oxford & Regents Street so great of shopping. 2 minute walk to the tube to get to other parts of London. The hotel itself is starting to look very tired and in need of a complete refurb. Rooms and bathrooms are small but adequate and clean and warm and really this is all you need when you're out exploring all day. Breakfast choice was tasty and good quality. The best feature of this hotel is the staff. They are all friendly, helpful and professional and are a credit to the hotel. I would definately stay here again.
I arrived with my friend for my birthday. Smooth check in at front desk, they changed my room from TWIN to Double as per my request. When I got to the room, duty manager brought me birthday cake which was really delicious. Room was tad small, but clean and quiet, as per my request. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and great variety of choices of hot and cold food, fruits and drinks. Only disappointment was Starbucks. They do not have all Starbucks menu, and their coffee machine can't make milk foam, so no Mocha or any other coffee's apart from Flat white, Americano or Espresso. Seemed like there were only trainees working there, as we ordered coffee, and guy in the bar just forgot (???). We had to ask twice with another lady. Thanks a lot for ladies in reception: Alessandra and Regina. Smile and good mood through all the stay. Also for a tall guy with a beard (sorry I didn't get your name), who brought me cake, and asked if we needed directions. :D Cheers to all the team from HI London Kensington High Street. ;)…
I stay with IHG quite often so when I booked this hotel, I assumed it would be up to the usual high standards....sadly it wasn't. The reception team are pleasant, however that same cannot be said for the rude man on the 1st floor bar who is devoid of any conversation and flings the card machine at you, nor the aggressive man dealing with room service. While the rooms are clean, the hotel is old and decor is very dated, think 1980's.....I suspect it will soon be sold off to Britannia Hotels! Please do not bother with room service, not only is the man rude and aggressive, the food is disgusting... think burnt Iceland pizzas for just over 16 quid. Honestly for the money there are far nicer hotels in London, this one definitely needs to be avoided at all costs!
