Lovely chatty staff and was in beautiful building - chandeliers! Great room with a comfortable bed and pillows. Clean and tidy. Simple powerful shower. Very spacious, with lots of amenities. Great location for the Barbican. The breakfast was also really good, lots of choices.

This hotel is really a great choice if you are staying in the city. It is very close to Moorgate tube (4 min walk) or Liverpool Street. We were upgraded to a really lovely large room. I want to thank Alock, Syed and Daniela for their professionalism and help during my stay. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel but I am told it is really great. The bed was comfortable and large. My only issue was there was ink stain on the bedding and it looked a bit worn. It needs replacing. However, the towels were lovely and fluffy and they provided really nice slippers. There is a button in which you can lower the shade down so the person in the bedroom can't see you in the bathroom! They probably could point this out in the room. Finding it was a discovery. haha Finally, I loved coming into reception and having a large fruit bowl to welcome me! There were also 2 bottles of water in the room which was wonderful.

Just perfect! We stayed here the night before my graduation ceremony at the Barbican (literally 3 mins away) and it was perfect. Although I booked the Barbican rooms, we ended up actually staying in one of the the Montcalm hotel rooms and it was stunning. We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay <3

Very disappointing experience. I’ll start with the good. The front desk staff was incredible, very friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately, the concierge was probably the worst ever. I received a package via Amazon and showed him the details from the Amazon email. He condescendingly asked me where it was on his list, where it wasn’t printed, and stressed that if it wasn’t there they did not get a package. I cannot put into words how condescending he was. I left for dinner worried the package was lost or misdelivered. When I returned, he was no longer there so I asked the great front desk staff if they had received a package for me. They remembered getting something and checked a few places, long story short is they found the package. Again, kudos to the front desk who went the extra mile for me, but why was the concierge so negativistic and self assured. Another positive was the fitness Centre, which had some great equipment, including a nice rower and treadmill. Unfortunately, the smell in the hallway leading to the fitness centre almost made me sick every day. A couple other challenges from the property. The room is what I would have imagined a jail cell. A small mattress just thrown into a corner. Also, the door to the bathroom slammed every time I went in, I am sure not very pleasant for my neighbors. Also the fire alarm went off at 7 am my last night, the cherry on top.

I booked this through Egencia as I was travelling for work and this was the nearest hotel to the office. Just before I arrived I began to read the reviews which were pretty bad to be fair. When I arrived I voiced my concerns to Ms Tinan who was on the reception desk. She assured me that she would look after me- which she very kindly did. I stayed in room 404 which was very nice and clean with all the amenities in place as advertised. She offered me complimentary snacks in the evening which I didn't take her up on but it was nice for her to offer this to me. All in all I have a very good stay and would stay again.

I stayed at the Barbican Rooms as I was speaking at a work conference across the road in the Brewery, and thought I'd treat myself to some "5 Star" luxury the night before, as I wanted a good night's sleep. The description of the room was quite promising - talking about how you can "select your aroma" for your room, and that there is fresh fruit on arrival. I was encouraged when checking in, as the lobby looked very "5 star". Sadly, it was downhill from here. Across the road in the "Barbican Rooms" where I was staying, my first issue arose when trying to actually enter my room - the keycard didn't work. An honest mistake, but certainly the shape of things to come. When I eventually accessed my room, I was massively disappointed. The room wasn't particularly big for a "deluxe double", and the general state was appalling. Firstly, the furniture - everything was damaged! the bedside table and desk were covered with scuffs and cup marks. Part of the laminate had come of the bathroom unit had come away, and instead of replacing it, the underlying plywood had simply been coloured in with a pen! I genuinely think that if any of the furniture was taken to a charity shop, it would be rejected. The carpets were stained and frayed, and just looked awful. Then there was the actually facilities: - The TV (approx 15 years old) didn't work, and had unsightly cables hanging down. - The mirror in the bathroom was hanging off the wall. - The phone in the room didn't work - The toilet roll holder was absent - There wasn't even a toilet brush! - The buttons to mark the room as DND didn't work On top of all that, there was a constant buzz in the room, that meant I had to sleep with earplugs in. Even then, I had a terrible nights sleep. Oh, and that "aroma" and fresh fruit that's described? No sign of them. At all. To advertise the room I stayed in as 5* is borderline fraudulent. I've genuinely stayed in more pleasant and better equiped Travelodges and Premier Inns. I paid £230 for the room. When I raised my concerns the following morning, I was offered £100 compensation. That said, I refuse to belief anyone would pay £130 to stay in that room.

Visited for business, and was immensely disappointed by the stay. You have to cross the road to another building for check-in, only to be greeted by a front desk with 5(!) totally uninterested people. It seriously felt like they were annoyed by getting interrupted by a guest (all 5 of them!). At the Barbican Room-building, there is a "security guard" at the front desk, whom I found sleeping at two occurrences. The rooms themselves smells vaguely of mold, and were also fitted with a completely empty kitchen (why?). There was a door leading to a backyard, and the door was not possible to lock completely. Didn't really feel safe. The breakfast is served in a parody of a buffet, after being locked in by the unfriendly staff in another building. Given the price point, the area and the expectations I had before staying, this was a complete letdown and neither me nor any of my colleagues were happy with the stay. Plenty of better alternatives in the area.

Quite a few aspects were out of sorts: 📋Check in Barbican rooms is not a part of the main hotel, so when you arrive you need to go across to the main hotel to check in to come back the the Barbican rooms. 5 stars? ⭐️ Outlines 5 stars but I can only assume this is based on the actual hotel and not the Barbican rooms as the room itself was pretty shocking. ❌No remote for the telly ❌Wall paper coming off the walls ❌The bed was horrendous ❌Strong smell of weed, which could have been from outside. ❌broken iron ❌strangely complex lighting system ❌gym is acrossss the road ❌pool and spa at sister hotel ❌stains on walls and furniture 🚗Parking Isn’t affiliated with the hotel and you just got to the local NCP So all in all feels quite misleading, especially when booking last minute at a glance 🕴️staff The staff however were friendly and helpful so that is nice
