We arrived very late due to queueing for the Queens Lying in state, but we're welcomed by really helpful staff and concierge. The room was lovely, and the bed very comfy. Well equipped. Only negatives were a couple of plug sockets were not working, and the coffee I room wasn't nice, but apart from that, it was satisfactory. Would stay again.
Stayed here overnight on a recent trip to London. I’d rate it between good and very good for the price paid. I can echo some of the reviews about some parts of the room being a bit dirty but found the staff very friendly and helpful which you would expect from a hotel with its higher rating. Despite being on the ground floor we had a quiet stay and good sleep and the bed was very comfortable and bath. I think if the hotel could just tidy up the rooms a bit more (stains on curtains, seats etc, wallpaper coming off in some areas) I’d stay again as the location is ideal for friends I visit in the area.
Firstly, customer service is really poor at this hotel. Front desk staff were mixed in levels of friendliness… some were pleasant and welcoming and others miserable and very unhelpful. The woman issuing key cards for the room was rude as when I asked her where the room was and whether it was in the same building as the lobby or across the road in the Barbican Rooms she responded “it’s complicated”, then said “next” and started serving the next person. So I went over to another member of staff sat at a computer to ask where room 504 was and she offered to show us which was helpful. 504 is in a different building across a courtyard and on the 5th floor. The key cards for the room didn’t work having only been issued them. Luckily as the member of staff was with us she let us in with her staff card and she promised to ask concierge to bring new working key cards straight away. These cards never came after waiting nearly 2 hours in the room. We called up reception after the first 45mins as noticed the privacy blind for the bathroom didn’t work, which isn’t ideal if you enjoy privacy whilst emptying your bowels or showering. Concierge again said they’d send someone with the key cards and to fix the blind but no one came for 1hr by which point we had to leave for each of our scheduled plans. I stopped by reception to tell them no one came and the keys didn’t work. Everyone acted dumb and shrugged. I asked for a supervisor to help which they did and programmed new key cards, apologised for their incompetence and lack lustre approach to looking after guests and promised the blind would be fixed while we were gone. It was never fixed, no letter under the door or message to explain the situation. Further to this there were some minor issues with the room such as the shower and bath tap which were constantly leaking and wouldn’t turn off regardless of the different combinations of twists to each of the three knobs. Further issues with the room include one light not working and the Usb sockets didn’t work. The next morning a member of housekeeping staff randomly let themselves into our room at 9:40am. Then tried again and kept knocking at 10:00am until I had to tell them to go away as wasn’t dressed in a decent state to have a random person walk in on me. So disruptive when you’re trying to have a relaxed morning and lay in. I complained at reception when we checked out and the staff couldn’t care less. They apologised insincerely and could have just told me to go away with their facial expressions. They excused the random walk ins to our room on their computer system. There are some positives and good points: Decent location and 5 mins walk from Moorgate and Barbican stations; near a Tesco Express; in room mini fridge; decent TV; clean room; comfy bed and bedding; good toiletries; rainfall shower head; bag storage at reception; lots of mirrors in the room; hallways to rooms were boujee; lobby were playing some decent deep house tunes; lobby toilets smell delightful and were clean. SUMMARY: I would stay here again, only at the right price and accept that staff aren’t helpful or great with customers, and that some things in the room won’t work either. If you can get a very good price then don’t shy away as it’s far better than any Travelodge or Premier Inn.…
Upon entering the room there was broken glass on the floor the bathroom was untidy and someone’s make up and used eyelashes left in the draw … Changed rooms and although slightly better and a promise of offering something for the inconvenience which never happened, this room too had used shampoos and lotions left in the room for use …. Disgusting not 5 star in anyway and I would strongly suggest you read google reviews before booking…..
Overall room was nice clean tidy. Air-con wasn’t working did report this and was issued a fan. Blowing hot air as room was very warm. Other than that room was great. I did message hotel 1 month prior to stay. As was Birthday weekend away, not one reply. I then called the hotel was told they would get back to me. They did not call me back. I did raise this when we arrived at hotel, and we got Prosecco in the room. Birthday card with the incorrect name on, and I didn’t give them any names. Luckily partner saw the funny side. (Phew) Other than this good stay. Would stay again, just need air con to work.
I would rate this hotel 2 - 3 star, far far from 5. The minute I walked in, I wanted to leave. The interior is so old, everything feels dirty from the carpet/ linen/ furniture, stains on bathrobe, shower was tiny with the door doesn't even close properly. The aircon would turn on itself even though I turned it off at night. Service was awful - the cleaner came and the safe was open and somehow she took out everything inside and put them in my luggage(???), didn't even leave water for the room. Plus the location is not great, still 10 mins walk to the tube station. The only thing that is better is the hairdryer. Honestly don't waste your money here and make the same mistake I did.
I really enjoyed my staying there especially with the amazing staff Saqar the manger and Ali a receptionist and others I did not catch their name they were wonderful and I will definitely stay there again
I can not say thank you enough for the hospitality of the staff Sakar and Kasi ! Our experience has exceeded expectations. The hotel reception and staff have been amazing. Rooms are great very good value for money! If I could give more I would! Thanks again for an unforgettable experience ! Love nick Lauren Lucia :) (family from south)
I booked 2 rooms for one night. I didn’t check the comments before I book that hotel. I booked for non-refundable, otherwise I would cancelled the entire booking. I got upgrade to a bigger room - club room ( according to the hotel ) it’s slightly bigger than my friends room. They were staying at the Superior Double Room. The room was small for 2 ppl. We discovered both of the usb chargers in our rooms were not working. We went out after that and came back late in the evening, and I found out more problems in the room in the morning….The speaker in my room was not even connected, I couldn’t even connect to my phone to listen to the music. The cover of the switch to operate the shower was broken/fell off!! 2 single beds put together as a queen bed. I could feel the gap in between, I couldn’t even sleep in the middle. My friends room was so tiny and the extractor fan was covered with dust!! I wonder why the hotel not even checking everything of what I was mention before they let the room out?? I did report to the reception when I checked out the next day and leave my email address. Hope I will get the reply from the hotel but I doubt it with to all the bad comments from Tripadvisor, they don’t even bother to respond. One of the front of house manager said if I do come back I should get upstage room or free breakfast. I’m not sure we will be the returning guests again?? One thing I could say the hotel staff were very friendly, specially the housekeeping manager she was very nice and helpful when I asked for more water and red bags.…
I booked two rooms at the Barbican Rooms for my boss and his colleague. One was from the 09 May until the 11 May and the other from the 09 May until the 12 May. When the two got there in the evening of the 09 May, they were informed that the rooms had been cancelled that day. How? Why? By whom? No answer was given. The agency I booked the room via, had no idea why either as the booking showed as "live" on their end. The agency eventually got in touch with the hotel. I was told that the first night will be charged at £162 and the second night at £245 plus £19 or breakfast. I had asked the agency if the hotel can give us a gesture of good will and make the room rate £200 and incl the breakfast for the night of 10 May. The hotel is refusing. Let's put this into context one more time! I asked for £45 discount on the room and a free breakfast. All in all £64. And the hotel is NOT willing to compromise. Again, THEY cancelled the rooms for no reason whatsoever, THEY caused a lot of unnecessary upheaval, THEY caused a lot of inconvenience ....and they cannot give a discount of £64? Seriously???? What is wrong with that hotel? THEY broke the contract! My advice: DO NOT go there, DO NOT book a room there!!!…
