This location is great a block from Westminster Abbey and Near Big Ben, walk to Buckingham Palace and St. James Park. Nice staff and reasonably priced with a pub seeing food from 7:00am on. Bed was unbearable though, springs stick through and we work up with horrible back pain, although we have no back problems. New beds would make this... More

We stayed at The Sanctuary in August, 2013 & found it very accommodating. We were traveling with friends, and when Jackie's son's wife had a baby & Skype didn't want to work on the iPad, the hotel let Jackie use their phone to call home - free of charge, all the way to Ontario, Canada. That was really appreciated! We... More

We stayed here in a double room and a twin on separate floors (I did ask to be placed together, but that wasn't possible, I did book quite late I suppose). The rooms were lovely, good decor and clean. Staff were excellent and very friendly, particularly the young man on reception and the young lady in charge of the bar.... More

My wife and I spent hours and hours and hours looking perfect hotel for our London vacation and found this property. Ultimately our goal was not to find a 4-star hotel but rather one which would be a suitable base of operation for our vacation at an affordable cost. This property suited that need. The location was absolutely exceptional. The... More

I stayed at the Sanctuary House Hotel on a Thursday night in July. The reception is up the stairs (there is a lift) on the 1st floor. I got a lovely greeting from the receptionist who went that extra mile to make me feel welcome. I got fresh milk for my tea and also a knife and fork as I... More

The neighborhood pub is in the ground floor of the hotel, and it was busy with locals. We throughly enjoyed the pub food and drink, whilst we were not staying at that Hotel but rather St. Ermins a block away. I would recommend the pub.

We spent a weekend at the hotel as we wished to be near St James's Park, the Abbey, and the Houses of Parliament. Reception was welcoming and helpful. The room was excellent and the area quiet at night so we were able to have the windows open. We will definitely stay there again when back in London..

Great pub for lunch! Food was excellent and decently priced. Steak and ale pie was fantastic with mash and veg. Great pint of London Pride too! Fell in here by accident and wasn't disappointed! Would recommend definitely!

We had a very short one night stay here this time, arriving after midnight and having to leave before breakfast the next morning. The room was comfortable and the service good. Would definitely stay here again while in London! I do wish that breakfast was offered before 8:00 as we had to leave before then to make an international flight... More

Popped in for lunch with the family. We all had light lunch of sandwiches. Fresh bread and sandwiches of others declared to be tasty. The beef brisket was OK, but not the best I have had. Apparently there was little smoked salmon in the sandwich so this could be boosted a bit to make it tastier and more worth the... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
