Seamless and exemplary British luxury and simply beautiful. Exceptional service and the restaurant is a must as well as the afternoon tea. The free flow Champagne was wonderful and generous. There is a good reason this place is as well respected as it is. I cannot wait to return.

Hotel's Favorite
My wife and I had rather lofty expectations of The Goring based upon their reputation, and the service and charm fully exceeded them. Despite being nervous about the British formality we might encounter at The Goring, we could not have felt more at home from check-in to check-out at The Goring. The staff does an exceptional job at truly making you feel special during your stay. This is no more evident than being greeted by name when departing for the day and when arriving back in the evening, and when to retrieve our room key from concierge (this is no regular room key, which added to the charm). We enjoyed breakfast on multiple occasions in the beautiful dining area where the service and also the meal were outstanding. A must when staying at The Goring (or in London) is afternoon tea, which was a great experience. For those wondering (as I was prior to our visit), the dress code is smart casual. Two things that were more our personal preference than outright complaints were that our bed did appear rather firm (unsure if this is standard for all rooms), and the first night the room was fairly warm (we were there during a warm time in London), although it didn't appear to be as much an an issue during the rest of our stay. Overall, if you're looking for a traditional, timeless, and charming stay in London with absolutely exceptional service, a stay at The Goring should be on your (bucket) list. After all, if it is good enough for royalty, it should be good enough for the rest of us! Thank you again to the staff at The Goring for our memorable stay, hope to see you again.

My mom, sisters and I had high tea at the Goring in December. It’s gorgeous. The hotel, restaurant-bar is beautiful. Service was attentive and friendly given how formal it is. The high tea was beautiful - champagne, teas, sandwiches - just delightful. It would be lovely for dinner or just a drink. True luxury. You definitely need to book ahead especially if you want an afternoon time.

Reviewing this as an expensive, five star, luxury hotel , there were things that were wonderful and things that let us down . The charming doormen remembered our names throughout our stay and always remembered who we were and what we were doing ; also very good at getting taxis. The beds were comfortable and the rooms quiet .The dinner service in the restaurant was excellent . We could not get an evening bar table before dinner ( we had not booked the bar ) even though we had two rooms in the hotel . I found my bathroom underlit and struggled with light putting on makeup . The main gripes were that we were forgotten and left standing for ages waiting for a breakfast table when there appeared to be plenty free and then didn't get our drinks on first ordering. It was chaotic. We asked one evening for something to read and there were no books anywhere in the hotel .We were told No there weren't any magazines we could look at and No there was no newspaper anywhere we could borrow. No effort was made to find us anything at all to read . There is absolutely nothing in the rooms not even a adertising magazine . It is unusual to be told "No" in such a lovely hotel setting .

Dear KentKritic, Thank you very much for your candid feedback regarding your recent stay with us. The team and I are delighted that many aspects of your visit went very well. I am sorry for the frustration we have caused you regarding the wait to get your breakfast table and the lack of magazines in the hotel, a slight hangover from Covid 19. Everything including Newspapers and Magazines are now available via a QR code. Regardless of this we should have provided you with a hard paper copy on request and I genuinely am sorry this was not done. I am also sorry that the bar was full during your visit in the evening which I believe was during Chelsea Flower show. We always try to keep a few table back for our resident guests but all tables must have gone for other hotel guests on this occasion. Hopefully we will get another opportunity to welcome you back and I can promise you that your entire stay will be memorable for all the right reasons. Please do contact me directly whenever you have a date in mind. With warmest personal regards, Michael

This is a disgusting hotel — absolutely despicable Avoid for High Tea. For the price it is the worst service in London. Much better options like The Dorchester with amazing service to match the quality. The Goring has made fraudulent charges to my credit card — they don’t answer the phone or emails and they literally steal from their customers. I made a reservation for high tea with a friend that I couldn’t make as my mother had a serious accident and was in the hospital. I tried calling 48 hours in advance and no one answered the phone - impossible to get through. I finally got through 24 hours in advance and was told they could make an exception given the extenuating circumstances + 24 hour notice and cancel my reservation. It turned out they charged me 110£ twice as they accidentally (probably intentionally) made my reservation twice. And they lied to my face and didn’t make the exception they had promised. I was charged 240£ while my mother was in the hospital. If they hadn’t lied to me and told me that i could cancel then I would’ve at least sent my friends. I’ve read another review of a pregnant women who had a panic attack and couldn’t make her reservation and was charged. Disgusting human beings at this hotel. All they care about is money. They fraudulently double booked me to steal. Also check your receipt ten times as they will do their best to steal from you and add fraudulent charges. It’s not worth it — avoid at all costs. Read other reviews about how awful the high tea is — you’ve been warned.

My husband and I spent 7 nights at The Goring over the Christmas period. It is a traditional hotel with old world charm. The hotel felt very festive with beautiful Christmas decorations and a lovely atmosphere, with many returning guests. At Christmas we received two small gift hampers in our room which was a lovely touch. The bar area was a fabulous place to relax with a drink and listen to the pianist. The Goring has a extensive cocktail menu to be enjoyed. All the staff were extremely friendly and professional, especially Michael Voigt, the General Manager who took time to talk to us on several occasions during our stay. Overall, we found The Goring to be a charming hotel and the perfect destination over the Christmas period, we really didn't want to leave.

I was looking forward to staying here and it didn't disappoint. From the moment we arrived we were looked after like royalty, the lovely Peter on the door saw that our huge amount of luggage was taken out of our car and then the car taken away immediately. We were shown to our beautiful room and our luggage was delivered straight away, I needed an iron that arrived within a minute. The dinning room was tastefully decorated and the staff attentive and well informed, my husbands Dover sole skillfully deboned and beautifully cooked. Breakfast was individually cooked to order with amazingly fresh eggs and all tasted fantastic. Our visit over too soon and concierge Oliver had our car loaded outside the front door and Peter wished us goodbye like an old friend, we will definitely be back ,Thank you all for an amazing experience.

The Goring rightly sits at the pinnacle of London hotels. What separates it from other hotels in the 5 star bracket is the understated elegance of the hotel and the charm of the staff, from the moment your taxi arrives at the door. It is also remarkably quiet making you feel more like a very privileged house guest than a guest at an hotel.

My husband and I have been going to The Goring every year for over 20 years to celebrate our anniversary. This is no ordinary hotel. They treat every guest like royalty. You will feel like you are the only guest in the hotel because the service is on a level you won't find anywhere else. The staff are extraordinarily attentive and are genuinely eager to accommodate your every need or request. From the moment you are greeted by the welcoming doormen (Hello, Peter!), you will realize this is a special place. From the reception desk, to the concierge team, to everyone working in the restaurant and lounge, you will be made to feel special. The Goring's housekeeping team is amazing. Whenever you return to your room, it's like checking in for the first time. They don't just clean, they tidy up for you! We consider The Goring our home away from home and every year they welcome us just as if we are returning home. If you are looking to stay in a beautiful, quiet, service-oriented, and uniquely British hotel, you must stay at The Goring. It's a wonderful experience.
