3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I took a friend from abroad for afternoon tea. The surroundings are lovely, understated, calm and comfortable and the staff are pleasant - not too intrusive. However, I was disappointed in the sandwiches which were not very tasty, and the selection of cakes, whilst they tasted nice, was poor. I wish I had gone to The Ritz. Never mind.

Room 49 was perfect, our bed the comfiest imaginable, our bathroom gorgeous, breakfast delicious and service impeccable. Had to chuckle when we went for a late night drink in the bar and asked for a glass of prosecco only to be told 'we don't serve prosecco sir, only champagne'. Further chuckle when they asked us if we wanted our bacon... More

I really loved the five days I spent at the Goring in July. I was coming back from two weeks in Jerusalem and decided to break up the return trip. After the heat and intensity of the Middle East, London was a welcome respite. I used the hotel's airport transfer service and was glad I did. To and from Heathrow... More

What can I say? Amazing service, they went out of their way to make us feel right at home from the moment we walked through the front doors. The decor is elegant though not at all pretentious, the bedrooms decently sized and the beds very comfortable. For kids, they give out the cutest complementary stuffed animal sheep! The entire stay... More

When we decided to spend 5 days in London on vacation, our travel agent recommended the Goring strongly, especially since she knows we prefer small hotels in central locations. She was right: my husband and I agree that this is one of the finest five-star hotels anywhere. Our Splendid Garden room was spacious, beautiful, quiet, and immaculate. The furnishings are... More

The service was discreet, knowledgeable and friendly from the offer of a newspaper while waiting for my guest to the presentation of the surprisingly reasonable bill. The food excellent and the somellier attentive and expert. Exactly as hoped for.

I cannot fault this wonderfully decorated and opulent hotel. The staff were just fabulous and attentive without being over the top. Nothing was too much trouble for you and service could not have been better. The surroundings were lovely, with a secluded garden and a haven right in the centre of London. The only reason this is not 5 stars... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
