We stayed at NYX Hotel Friday and Saturday 1st and 2nd Dec 23. I was looking forward to the break to carry out some Christmas shopping and to enjoy some well deserved rest and recuperation as I work full time and I am a mother to three daughters. We choose this hotel for both the location and spa facilities. I have to say that the hotel was in a perfect location and the staff were always very friendly and accommodating. However what I experienced on Saturday night was cruel. I was in bed ready for sleep at 21.00hrs after a day battling the crowds on Oxford Street and all I could hear was the "thump, thumb, thumb of music". I understand it is Christmas and people like myself are jolly. I rang down to reception who informed me that the music would stop at 23.30hrs and they also assured me that they would ask the DJ to turn down the music. I have to admit that I noticed no difference in the volume of the music and at 23.50hrs it was still going strong. I rang down to reception again and I was told a different story. The music would now stop sometime between 1am and 1.30am. Again this was another lie as the music did not stop until 2am. By this stage I was so irate. I just wished I was at home in my own bed. We had a long drive home the next day and I was exhausted. At no point when I booked this hotel did you state on your website that there would be loud music playing until the early hours and that you would be able to hear it in the bedrooms. It was far from the peaceful and relaxing experience that I hoped for. And this weekend was not cheap, we paid £792.18, which was a disaster. Also the shower plug was blocked which meant that the water kept filling in the shower and pouring out over the edge, I constantly clean the shower drains in my own showers at home and I definitely wasn't going to do it at the hotel. Hence the bathroom floor was soaking post shower and we had to ask for extra towels to soak up the water. I ordered room service on Saturday night from the menu in the room entitled "Room Service". I ordered a burger at a cost of £20 and chips at a further cost of £7, and they were fairly basic!! However when it was delivered there was a £6 tray charge, this is exploitation as it specifically says room service with the price beside the items. Perhaps they should change the wording on the sheet and say "Food in Hotel", tray charge of £6 if delivered to your room !! I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone and I shall not be re booking it, this is a shame as the location was perfect. I had a letter put under my door asking me to email the Duty Manager regarding my compliant, which I did but so far I have not received any response !!…

AVOID!! We came into the hotel to check it out and have a drink (with a view of possibly staying there on our next visit). Within 30 mins we had been approached in the bar and had my phone stolen from the table. It was immediately reported as directly under several CCTV cameras but unfortunately the staff’s complete disinterest and aggressive approach was starling. There are many excellent options in London to stay, eat and drink……but this is NOT one!!!

We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights Every looks good, until you start looking Check in was good Got to the room, turned the lights on light over the bed just flashed no matter what you did. The curtains looked like good quality black out material, but the did not cover the whole window due to the air con boxing leaving a large gap that the curtain just did not cover The Tv picture just broke up The shower room was so small you have to stand each side of the toilet to shut the door to access the sink and shower In the other room The towels where dirty from the previous customer, the mini bar fridge some one had used the stock and returned back the empty bottles no one had checked it Then on the Saturday night we were entertained by the resident mouse running in and out of the sitting in the bar area Other than that our stay was ok The beds are so comfy Good roof top bar We found the bar staff very helpful with drinks…

Hotel staff are like this is their fill in job till they get a proper one. Service and attitude is very average. The décor tries too hard and our room was just soooo noisy, stuff being shifted around all night, clanging and banging from the upstairs (our room was room 703 FYI) - and the windows aren't sound proofed at all ... Glasshouse bar is like a student bar - very average to say the least, shame as the location is great. The spa area and gym is really good tho - Over all the hotel sounds good, could be good, but it just isn't.

Stayed just one night in October on business. Hotel room was quite modern, but bathroom I had was really tiny, but functional. Only real letdown was the service in the bar/ restaurant area where things were a bit slow and drinks didn't arrive later at night. Good breakfast, and would return.

The good: Reception: staff were welcoming and efficient Room 215 - spacious, great amnesties, small but adequate bathroom Liam and Lorena at the rooftop bar very efficient and hard working Restaurant: burgers were delicious, thanks Etiennne for the recommendations Pool water good temperature Now for the not so good :( One lift not working, had to use stairs Steam room not working Music in pool area was terrible and depressing, not really relaxing at all They allow kids in pool on a Saturday so it was noisy I wouldn’t recommend the spa if you’re looking to spend a relaxing day but the hotel made up with the room being nice and other areas like the bar and restaurant being aesthetically nice as well as staff friendliness and efficiency.

2nd stay at the NYX Holborn and will definitely be staying again. Reception staff always polite and helpful, rooms clean and spacious. Ideally situated for a short walk into West End or the tube. A few reviews criticised the breakfast, not sure why there was plenty of choice. Keep up the good work
