Detailed Reviews
My husband and I celebrated his 70th birthday with a theatre trip and an overnight stay in this quirky hotel. We were greeted by a helpful member of staff and directed to our room. On opening the door we were amazed to see a 7ft wide bed, with birthday balloons and peacocks made from towels and decorated with petals. The room was very large, as was the bathroom. It was designed for anyone needing help, with pull chords by the bed and in the bathroom, and handrails to make life easier for anyone with mobility issues. (We laughed at this. Was it allocated because of his Great Age? We don't know, but it was great!)
The fridge was full of complimentary drinks, there was a coffee machine, chocolates, mints, and various teas. There were plenty of towels, and they were soft and white, but not so fluffy that they didn't dry you properly. The water was hot, and the shower perfectly adequate. And best of all, there was a well-lit magnifying mirror in the bathroom, so unlike most other places that I have stayed, putting on make-up was a doddle. Brilliant!
We couldn't find the TV remote control, but one was provided as soon as we asked.
We ate the food; a pie for hubby, fish and chips for me, all delicious. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice.
The staff were all friendly and helpful.
Yes, the bathroom was a little tired, but I understand there is an ongoing programme of modernisation going on. It was clean, large, and everything worked.
We would certainly stay there again.

We needed some digs to stay in London on route back to Boston after a family wedding in the country so I booked this hotel after a quick search. And was happy I did.
We were able to drop off our bags before check in and the staff (I didn't catch his name but he was terrific-made us feel so welcome and he is so exuberant and cheery we knew it would be a good stay.
Our room was on the second floor and quite spacious for a London room. It was clean, the bedding nice, and had a nice coffee/tea set up with fresh milk in the mini fridge-always a welcome sight. The bath was large and we particularly liked the extra large bath towels. Water pressure and hot water were spot on. Could it used a few strokes of paint? Yes, but that did not deter us from giving it a thumb's up.
We didn't have a great view but we were not expecting one. The rate included a breakfast but since we were leaving quite early to catch a flight we did not have the chance to sample it.
The location south of the river is very convenient-esp to Borough Market (if you are a foodie it is a must) and to the tube. Very short walk to the south bank where the Globe theatre, Tate, etc are located.
When we return to London we definitely plan to stay here again. You are welcomed like an old friend, and that is important to us.
Hats off to a great stay!

The Mad Hatter is a fun, clean hotel in a fantastic location. We stayed for 5 nights in May, and it was a perfect base for seeing Westminster, The V&A, the National Gallery, and British Museum. There is a restaurant on site that is run by Fuller's, so it serves their typical meals, which are solid British pub fare. Our room was on the first floor and faced the street near the corner; weekend nights were noisier but nothing ridiculous and after 11pm all was quiet.
Pros:
Location! It's close to Waterloo and Southwark underground stations, so getting anywhere across the Thames is super easy. The Tate Modern is also within walking distance. Our room was comfortably sized, and the bathroom had a tub/shower so we were able to hang a clothing line. Breakfast is included and it's not just the buffet - you may order anything off the menu in addition to buffet items (more of a continental breakfast). Staff is all lovely and helpful. Vegetarian options are available.
Cons: No air con, but there are fans in the rooms. We cracked the windows and that helped as well (mid-May).

We can’t praise The Mad Hatter enough. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean, fresh and airy, and all the extras were very appreciated - from the artwork, Dyson fan and furnishings (like the old telephone!) in the room to the bathroom supplies and bathrobes, the tea and coffee making facilities, and the complimentary drinks and milk in the mini fridge. The breakfast was excellent (and included in the price of the room). A gem of a hotel with a lovely bar too (with a discount for residents). Thank you.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at this hotel. To start, I emailed the reception staff several times in advance of our visit with random questions. They responded immediately and graciously every single time. This was our first visit to London and they gave us more helpful information than any website could have possibly provided. Check in was a breeze, and we were so fortunate that our room was ready early after an overnight flight - another stroke of good luck that you never expect to happen. The room itself is spacious, comfortable, and clean, with more amenities than I've seen at any hotel before (razors, toothbrushes, etc.). Then the pub - just wow! Natalie and her team were so friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious and the service is top notch. The breakfast was expansive and included hot items off the menu and a continental buffet. The location is wonderful - we enjoyed the easy walking distance to many sites of interest. We can't wait to come back!

Rooms large and clean, great value for money, really good breakfast including a vegan cooked, avocado and poached eggs, free bottles of water and beer in the room. Staff really friendly. All in all a surprise for the price, have been to £200 a night hotels which weren't as good as this. Highly recommended!

It is in a very busy intersection of road, but the hotel provide sleep masks and ear plugs. The location is very handy and central, but after a long day walking around London, the walk from Blackfriars station to the hotel over the bridge felt like forever!
The little extras were very sweet, lots of toiletries and items in the mini fridge. The breakfast was very good, large selection of buffet cold items, teas, coffees, and juices. And then a varied and delicious hot breakfast menu, all included in the price. The shower let our room down a little as the shower head had a leak that sprayed water into your face!
However, the loss of a star is due to the fact that we left a toothbrush charger in the room when we left, and we contacted the hotel three times after to enquire, and three times they said they would check with housekeeping and get back to us.... and they didn't. We finally got an answer four days later, which by then they claimed no one had seen the charger in our room. Not the end of the world but inconvenient and poor service in checking back with us.

Due to the train strike my boss needed me to get him into London for a function. I booked with the Mad Hatter as it was only a short walk from where we were leaving the car.
On arrival the guy on reception was very helpful and the whole process was well explained and in complicated.
The voucher for a meal and a drink was well received as was the mini fridge in the room with complimentary drinks all included ( Bottle of Fullers London Pride beer, bottle of still water, bottle of sparkling water, small bottle of semi skimmed milk for the tea and coffee.
In the room (109) was a large double bed, coffee machine with pods, all the usual things, iron, ironing board etc, but also a Dyson fan machine which was well used due to the hot weather outside.
The meal at night with the voucher was good, having selected the Steak and Ale pie with veg and a pint of Fullers London Pride.
The bed was comfortable with a good nights sleep and not too much noise despite being near some busy roads.
The premises is only just over Blackfriars bridge and when I walked to it, I came from near the Bank of England and it only took me about 15mins walk.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
In the morning, the breakfast was fine with a full English provided with the usual cereals, fruit juices etc.
A good venue for business and one I will be using again should I need to stay in the city.

A renovated hat factory with a genuine English pub downstairs. 3 storey hotel with 18 rooms. Rooms are a very good size the bathroom is big enough. Our room 309 was top floor some traffic noise from busy street but not enough to interrupt sleep. There is an air humidifier no A/C which is a shame. Bed comfortable enough, pillows a bit hard. No cupboard space but some hanging space and a safe. Towels biggest, softess I have ever had. Also soft dressing gowns. If you get breakfast which I strongly suggest you do it's in the pub and is a la carte or continental. We had eggs Benedict both mornings. Coffee from machine too cold for us so had freshly pressed coffee and tea. If you dine and wine for dinner in the pub then you receive 10% discount for staying at the hotel. Location is good to explore London about an £8 taxi ride from Waterloo railway station. 30 minute walk to Tower of London and about 20 min walk from Buckingham Palace. They have strict check in check out times 3p and 11a not flexible. I would recommend this boutique hotel for short stays in London.

Hi
We left our luggage with the Hotel when we arrived early to tour the City.
Windows open, there is a ceiling fan and a Dyson. Much traffic noise, though, at least at the side, our room was situated.
Yes they do.
