The whole of the Excel area seems to have been really badly hit by the pandemic and is just starting to come back to life, this seems to be the case as well at Aloft. I think, however, this hotel and the whole area are at the cusp of a massive resurgence now that the Elizabeth line has reopened. It took me 20 mins from getting off my train in Paddington to get to Excel and I stayed the night as was attending my first conference in over a couple of years. The hotel has great infrastructure, rooms are super spacious, etc and as an athlete I really enjoyed the gym, pool and sauna, all for myself! Adam in the restaurant also made me a really good (complementary) cappuccino, much better than anything your usually get a ta hotel. Yes, they need to improve their operation, are like the rest of the UK a bit shorthanded and there were a lot of things unavailable on the restaurant menu, but staff has a great attitude and I believe this will be my choice stay when in London. Where else can you get this facilities at that price 10 mins away from the City?

Great location and good facilities. London prices but it is right next to Excel! Prince Regent is the best DLR stop as well. Breakfast has good choices but it is £17.50! Lots of building works outside the hotel ATM...so parked at the Double Tree...cheeky I know...

Good hotel, decent breakfast, clean and spacious rooms. Airconditioning is not very effective, so very hot weather will not be unnoticed. One note: never order a cab from the receptiondesk, they will surely call a costly taxi, better take an Uber or blackcab.

Beautiful modern hotel. Stayed for one night, I also had my dog with me. In the room the hotel had laid out 2 dog bowls, dog blanket and 4 toys to take home! Absolutely brilliant! The room was lovely, the bed was huge and so comfortable. Lovely shower, huge TV, just so comfortable. Breakfast was good, the pool looks small but pleasant & gym is great. The staff were all amazing, just so helpful and pleasant. Plenty of parking , only £16 for 24hour.

I used this hotel as we were undertaking an exhibition at Excel. It's location is its main selling point. We wanted to eat in the restaurant on both Tuesday and Wednesday. 3 people on Tuesday and 7 people on Wednesday. We didn't have a reservation, but the restaurant manager wasn't interested in accommodating us. They weren't busy, lots of empty tables. On the second evening we had to order pizzas in. The bar manager who had been happy to take our money for drinks, was not willing to allow us to sit in the bar and eat the pizza whilst drinking the drinks we had bought from him. He actually made us sit in the reception area. I won't stay here again. Never.

Room was not ready when I checked in at 4pm and had to wait 30mins for a room. Staff was rude and lack of basic customer service. Went to eat at 7pm was told restaurant was full! The restaurant remained 1/2 full all night and again this was repeated the second night. On the second night we ordered pizzas after a long day at Excell and was told we could only eat them in our rooms. Will not be staying again and expect more from such a brand!

I stay around the Excel several times a year for events with friends or alone. I've stayed at other hotels nearby like the Crowne Plaza, Novotel, Ibis etc. but this was my first time staying at Aloft. The room is adequately sized and was quite clean. The bed linen was clean, and the carpets seemed clean as well. There were a couple of small issues with cleanliness but nothing overly off-putting. The shower needs to be re-grouted and walls need to be repainted/new wallpaper applied in some areas that had a lot of marks. The layout of the room is a little weird. The wardrobe and tea and coffee tray are at the side where the bathroom is. There's no mirror in the bedroom area, so if you want to do your hair you have to plug into the section where the kettle tray is placed and stretch the wire across. It's not a big deal, but a little inconvenient. The fixtures in the room were decent and the bed was comfy. The location is next to Prince Regent DLR, so easy to get to and from the train. The room would benefit from some sort of information booklet about the facilities at the hotel. There wasn't any information given about what was available at the hotel or any opening times of the facilities, where they were located or what you needed to do to access them. It's a hassle for guests to have to ask the front desk about this, so the information should be readily available in the room. When I checked in there was a leak in the room that I was given. I'd just come from a 15 hour journey and wanted to take a shower and relax, so this was not ideal. I told reception and they said they would send someone to take a look to see if it could be fixed. I didn't exactly see why I should sit and wait because there was a leak in the room and believe that they should have moved me immediately. They sent someone up and they took a quick look and determined it would take too long to fix and would move me to a different room. I was moved to the room next door and for the following 45 minutes all I could hear was the door slamming in the other room, I assume from them coming in and out to try and fix the issue there. It took around 30 minutes of me being in this room for me to be moved, which was really not ideal. I was offered a short apology, but no compensation for the inconvenience. The main issue I had with this hotel was the noise from other rooms and guests. On the same night that I checked in, the guests in the room next to me appeared to be having some sort of party until after 5am. They were playing music, shouting, banging things on the wall and constantly walking in and out of the room causing the door to slam loudly each time. I understand this is not particularly the fault of the hotel, at this point I was too exhausted from my trip to reach out to the hotel with another complaint. I was happy that on the 2nd night, these guests must have checked out. However, the noise from other guests was still a bit of an issue, although no one was particularly trying to be noisy you can hear pretty much everything in these rooms. The rooms need some serious work on the sound proofing as it really effects the quality of sleep guests will be getting. Based on my experience at Aloft I would not choose to stay here again. The sleep experience is an important part of a stay in a hotel, and was lacking here. There are other hotels in the area that offer similar rooms with less noise issues, for the same, or a better, price.

Stayed at Aloft ahead of attending a conference at the Excel. Great location literally 30 steps from the doors of the Excel. Rooms are super spacious, and really quiet - the in room coffee machine was such a treat! Didn’t heard other guests opening and closing their doors at all. Had a great workout in the gym - with lots of weights options and cardio machines (covid safe; limited to 5 people at a time!). Didn’t try the pool but it looked very relaxing. Will definitely look to stay again.
