Had a fantastic stay at the Aloft London Excel. The service we experienced was extraordinary. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. Especially Daniel from reception went out of his way to make our stay memorable. Definitely the type of service you would hope for in a 5-star hotel! The rooms are spacious, modern and clean, and the pool area is lovely too. However, due to the current situation, the steam room and sauna remain closed and there are no loungers to relax on (the pool itself is really nice though - still had a great time). The only thing that let down our experience slightly was breakfast, which is quite basic at the moment (again, due to corona) and the selection of available items is rather small. Nevertheless, the friendly staff made up for it. So all in all, we had an amazing experience and I can only recommend staying at the Aloft Excel!

What a breath of fresh air. When other hotels have forgotten what people stay in hotels for, Aloft gets it just right. It's been a difficult year for everyone. This hotel played a part in looking after key workers over the worst of the crisis during lockdown. The hospitality this hotel shows permeates, and creates a brilliant culture. All staff, from reception, to housekeeping, to management were kind and caring, welcoming and thoughtful throughout. Nothing was too much trouble. Our suite was very spacious and well appointed. The pool and gym are a delight! A shame the sauna and steam room were out of order, but understand that in these times it might be difficult to prioritise. We took our son, who is shortly due to change school, as a celebration. We have turned hotel trips in London as holidays, and when they go well we all feel incredibly relaxed. Particular praise is due to Daniel Nielsen. His rare skills of compassion and leadership are something the Marriott chain should honour and share with other hotels in the company that struggle to do what Daniel excels in. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will be back!

It was our 2nd visit here this time a belated birthday treat for my husband. We were meet by Daniel who know all about our booking as it was booked by our son. He explained about our room the breakfast arrangements due to Covid And sorted pool passes for us. We had a beautiful suite on the 7th floor with views into London and of the river. A large lounge dining room bedroom and 1.5 bathrooms. The pool was lovely warm enough for my husband who hates cold pools. We only had 1 other gentleman in with us. Unfortunately due to the situation sauna and steam rooms were both closed. On our last day we used it again am and had it to ourselfs. We ordered from the restaurant the first evening and the food was lovely but weird eating from a box but again Covid situation changes things. At Breakfast You get a choice of cold stuff tea/coffee juices and choice of hot stuff the staff plate it up for you and you eat in the bar area. The food was good and hot stuff hot as done per person not kept heated. The lady working in this area is lovely. The hotel is near docklands railway so it’s easy to get into London and visit the sights which are all very quiet at present. We loved our stay and hope to return again.

Professional Staff, Daniel handles all the check-in / out stuffs smoothly. I am happy with the suite upgrade for my birthday rest stay. The hotel is just next to the DLR and super fast to town center. I think I would come back again during the weekend.

We booked the Aloft as a last second short break (to get out of our London flat with two kids) and are delighted that we did.  A big highlight was the swimming pool. Hotel swimming pools are often basement affairs with no natural light, low ceilings and old freeboard style pools resulting in choppy water and a poor swimming experience. Not at the ALoft. The pool is on the ground floor and is flooded with daylight as one whole side is a window and there is a mirror at the other end. The ceiling is also super high giving a feeling of space. The pool itself is a modern deck level one and so the swimming experience is smooth. As hotel pools go it's quite a decent size. It's long enough for some recreational lengths and there's plenty of space for kids to splash about. The pool water is lovely and warm. We swam four times in two days and had the pool to ourselves most all the time. It felt like our own private pool! The family room was another pleasant surprise in terms of size and functionality. Hotel family rooms are often regular rooms with a sofa bed or two squeezed in. Not at the Aloft. The King suite comprises one large room with a huge King bed and a separate large suite with a double sofa bed. The sleeping experience is great - awesome mattress, no noise from outside and black out blinds. The shower is walk-in and powerful (the suite has it's own separate toilet). There's plenty of storage and hanging space so the room doesn't feel messy with all the kids stuff There's also a big table which is great for drawing, colouring, sicking and card games. Although we didn't watch it there is a big tv in each room.  But what made the stay was the service. We had called the morning of our stay with an enquiry and Marie on reception had been very helpful. When we checked in she was on duty and remembered us. The welcome was professional and warm. Our stay was brief but the the whole reception experience was 5 star. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything was taken care of instantly. The kids took a shine to Marie and insisted on showing her some drawings that they had made!  We ended up booking an extra night and if it wasn't for school on Monday we would have booked another night too.  It was a brief stay but it more than delivered what we were looking for. We are back in our London flat. But we are feeling re-energised and rested. The kids have already asked when we can go back!  BTW for anyone wondering about Covid safety we felt that the hotel had done a great re-opening job. All staff (including breakfast team, dinner crew, cleaners) were well trained and conscientious about their new procedures managing to carry them out with a smile. It was clear that the hotel had thought through everything in great detail down to the pens that are used to sign in having their own safety process.
