From check in to check out I have nothing but praise. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We arrived earlier than check in time and as the hotel was full they could not accommodate us earlier, however, they held our cases and rang me on my mobile to advise me when the room was ready - much earlier than... Enjoyed our stay at the Rubens. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was excellent. Had a very good meal on our first evening in the restaurant downstairs but were very disappointed with our fish and chips in the bar on the second evening. The fish was very poor - not as our great British dish should... More

A central London hotel with lots of old style charm, great location and attentive staff. Located opposite the royal mews at Buckingham Palace, it is convenient for access on foot to central London - with easy access from Victoria station in particular. The rooms were finished in a classic style and were maintained to a good standard. Having stayed in... More

This hotel is beautiful, it has loads of character and charm, when you first walk in to reception...... it just has the wow factor. The most important part of this hotel (as with any hotel) is the staff, they are all so helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble and ultimately it is the staff that stand this hotel... This is our second trip to the Ruebens and it was as delightful as our first. The rooms are small for American standards but so beautifully decorated and how can one complain with the view of the Royal Mews. The staff is outstanding and friendly. The breakfast is wonderful and so comfortable. This hotel is classic London. It is very... More

Coming from the Lake District I am used to places saying they are pet friendly but the hotel takes the dog biscuit. The staff are amazing - really attentive and friendly. The room was fab - came with a dog bed, dishes, treats, poo bags and even a tennis ball ! A pet breakfast menu completed the extras. Breakfast at... More

The positives: - beautiful old hotel, with lots of charm - nice bar and restaurant, with live music (pianist was playing on my arrival) - top notch service, including room service - palace location, directly opposite the Queen's mews - close to Victoria station The negatives - rooms are of usual small UK size - my room was showing signs... I'm still in awe of how this hotel was able to get a 5 star rating from me... I didn't realize I used a third party site when booking this hotel and it was incredibly expensive so I had high expectations for this place especially because of the other reviews I read... The room I was initially given had not... More

The Rubens is across the road from the Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace and less than a 5 minute walk from Victoria underground. The current chaotic roadworks make the location less appealing but the service at the hotel will more than make up for it. The lobby and dining rooms have an old world charm but our room was modern... More

I stayed at Rubens following our wedding reception a short walk across the way at Lancaster House. The atmosphere and decor is as expected for a hotel that overlooks the Mews of Buckingham Palace but it is the service that makes this hotel stand out. Impeccable. They were willing to go far beyond their remit to assist me before arriving.... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
