We discovered this hotel after finding out that they are dog friendly. Many hotels advertise that they are dog friendly but how dog friendly actually are they? Well Ruben's is super dog friendly with the dog being allowed anywhere in the hotel....including the restaurant. After trying them out for afternoon tea and then dinner at the English grill we decided to stay. This is now our favorite hotel in London. All of the staff are amazing and it is such a personal service. We are sad to hear that they are closing for a few weeks and cannot wait until they open again in September.

When so many well known London hotels are still closed it was a pleasure to stay at this historic gem with it's amazing history and oozing character. Upgraded to a better room which was nice, loved the huge mirror, bed a tad hard for me but slept well. Only dissapointment was the BBar, (had made a reservation), thought it was part of the hotel but you had to walk down the street, too modern and characterless for me, total opposite of the hotel itself but food was good. Loved the New York bar however, it's beautiful red colour and amazing paintings and breakfast was fine and nice restaurant. Finally the staff were really nice and cheerful particularly the bubbly lady from York on reception despite these difficult times. For the price i paid (and with a £40 dinner credit) i made the right choice of hotel for my stay in the capital. Wishing it well for the future.

Having been to many higher class hotels around the world, I'd never expect to have the best experience in a London hotel. Yes no extra amenities on site like the gym, swimming pool or spa but the customer service was phenomenal. I was emailed by Alice Roper a few days before our arrival and from then on, we have been looked after continuously. Always greeted politely by all staff going in and out of the hotel. Breakfast was just amazing, always made a good start to our day. All the personal touches they gave us were so lovely, I really appreciated all the effort they did for us. Nothing seemed like too much trouble for them either. Such perfection. Hotel itself was grand and decorated like royalty theme, so naturally some of the facilities would be slightly old fashioned such as the taps. No trouble at all though. Again, I've been pleasantly surprised by my experience and would definitely visit again when I have the chance. I might bring my two young children along next time! See you soon, thank you for everything.

We had an afternoon treat booked and decided to make a weekend of it. COVID19 had hit us hard in our line of work and we needed the break, but not many hotels open. We usually stay in Mayfair at wither The Ritz or the Rubens' sister hotel The Chesterfield. None open yet. I saw that Rubens was open for our planned times and called up. It was the start of my 50th Birthday Celebrations and a chance for some R & R. From the moment I picked up the telephone, the staff were helpful and professional. I was impressed, even though I am used to the Red Carnation Standards. Arrived on Saturday with anticipation and excitement as this had been the first break we have been able to take. Everything else has been cancelled, all birthday celebrations. What a year. We were met by John, who quickly took our bags and car to be parked and welcomed us, we felt at ease. Check in was seamless . The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the reception area was spotless. We were also surprised to receive an upgrade as it was my birthday and were given the Duke of Cambridge Suite. WOW - what a beautiful suite, clean, spotlessly clean. Even cake was sent to the room. Spoiled rotten was the phrase I used. We went out to the quiet streets of London and had some dinner and then returned to the bar for cocktails. Service was impeccable. The bed was comfortable and everything was set to a high standard, plenty of clean towels, robes, slippers. We got up for breakfast and were welcomed once again at reception asking how our evening had been and we were directed to breakfast. Everything came to the table under the current conditions and it was beautiful. The food was fantastic. We packed up and checked out to go to our afternoon tea and some shopping and the staff took our luggage and wished us a good day. After we had been out we arrived back at tea time and again the staff were still happy to greet us and asked us about our day. The car was delivers, our luggage brought to the car. Even as we waited to depart, the car had been attacked by pigeon mess and John was cleaning it off. Nothing was too much for this hotel. The Ritz standards at half the cost. Welcoming, warm, friendly and professional. Will definitely be using this as our new base for visits to London. Give this hotel a go - its amazing and so are the staff.
