Nestled along the riverside, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London - Docklands Riverside presents a mixed bag of experiences. Guests are captivated by scenic river views from comfortable rooms, yet some point out wear and maintenance issues. The complimentary ferry service to Canary Wharf and the hotel's cleanliness earn high praise, but opinions diverge on the value, with additional costs being a concern.
Service levels vary, with commendations for friendliness alongside reports of slow and unprofessional responses. The atmosphere is generally appreciated, though noise and misleading promotional images have been noted.

Hotel's Favorite
Right on the River Thames, a hotel with a fantastic atmosphere. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a drink from the bar - right by the river and the Docklands skyline. Many rooms also offer nice views of London. And the free hotel ferry takes you across the Thames.
The staff are very professional and go the extra mile. Really enjoyed my time there!
Having said that, the hotel could do with some improvements. Before my room change, not all the furniture was working. Some parts of the hotel are a little faded and there are no USB sockets in the rooms. But this didn't bother me.

We recently stayed at the hotel as a family and were presently surprised at the value considering it in near central London. Having arrived at the hotel I was amazed there was so much free parking on the streets just outside the hotel, London usually cost £20+ for a 24hr period if not more. We were staying at the hotel as it’s so close to the O2 arena, the ferry from the hotel to Canary Wharf was free and the cost of the ferry to the O2 was less than a fiver!
The hotel was very clean although the design of the living quarters from outside looked as if they were a converted block of social housing, the inside was very different! Our room looked out towards Canary Wharf that looked great at night and when the sun was rising in the morning. All of this was topped off by a breakfast that was as good as any I have had in the best hotels.
Great staff, fully recommended..

I booked this as we really wanted something nice and this gave us the option for two double beds in a suite which was ideal for two friends travelling but don’t want the single beds . Room was a great size and the view was lovely . The hotel does a free ferry to the Canary Wharf dock that then is about at 10 min walk to the underground however on day 3 we discovered the C10 bus to Canada Water was quicker and drops you right at the door which is ideal after a long day on feet . The beds were very comfortable and the cleaning was done well each day . The tv is a smart tv but does have all internet disabled which is a shame as would have been nice to log into personal accounts for tv in evening . The bathroom was small but sufficient however the floor flooded daily which there never seemed a good way to avoid due to narrow bath and wide head shower . The first night the room was freezing but maintenance did come to fix this very quickly, I think due to large room and the windows , balcony the room is always a little chilly though and the hallways are all very cold which is a shame but overall a great place to stay and easy to get around London as both Canada Water and Canary Wharf are on the jubilee line . Also worth noting that the blacksmiths arms pub around the corner is brilliant for food and priced reasonably and the Royal China restaurant has some beautiful food which is just as you step off the free ferry . We did not use the hotel restaurant so can’t comment on it other than the menu seemed limited and pricey , breakfast was over priced so we picked up local pastries and had in room which has a fridge so was easy to have juices , milk etc to avoid the UHT milks . Overall we have had a great stay

0 Stars.
Rude staff, Dirty Rooms & Overpriced for what it is.
Date of stay: NYE 2019
5pm arrival:
After waiting 15 minutes to check in, we were given our room key, we walked in to find clothes tags on the floor, toothpaste on the side of the bath tub, sticky substance on the bathroom floor, sugar emptied onto the floor, urine on the toilet seat, what looks like cod liver oil tablets by the bed, hairs on the tables, rings from the bottom of wet cups on the bedside table and the most shocking one POO ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TOILET BOWL.
We were offered to be moved rooms but it was not the room that we had paid for and had no view (which was an extra cost)
So we agreed to move to the bar area and wait for the room to be cleaned, which the lady advised would take 30 minutes.
We moved to the bar and waiting 45-60 minutes to allow the room to be cleaned and as it should have been in the first place.
6:15pm: We went back to the room, we found that the room still had not been cleaned?
So we rang reception and asked why it had not been touched and they said ‘we are sending someone now’ I explained that we have dinner reservations at 7:30pm and that this is not ethical as we will not make the reservation if they were to come and clean now and that it should be cleaned whilst we are out and also made them aware that there was no hairdryer in the room when there should have been (this they were prompt to bring up)
Whilst I was in the bath the cleaners knocked at the door and asked to clean the room (6:30pm) as advised to the man on the phone I told them to come back in an hour whilst we are out.
2:00am we arrive back at the hotel expecting to come to a clean room.
The room again had not been cleaned.
We gave up on the idea of a clean room and decided to go to bed.
At around 3:20am we were awoken by a man running up and down the corridor outside of our room shouting racial and abusive comments, he then started banging on our door and was threatening that he had ‘a pole’ and that he was going to ‘put us to sleep’.
This was all due to an argument with another room 2 doors down.
Security were called and after 2 warnings and around 45 minutes later the man and his crying, screaming girlfriend were escorted out the hotel.
When we went to speak with the manager the following day, considering the circumstance’s I of course asked for a refund of the room, we were slapped in the face with a 25% refund. Thus being £76 back from a £305 room
Positive:
Breakfast was good.
This hotel is dirty, overpriced and I cannot believe how bad the experience was that we have had.
If you would like a pleasant stay then I strongly recommend you stay FAR away from this ‘4 star’ hotel.

Dear FMiller_94 Thank you for taking the time to post such a detailed review following you stay with us earlier this week. I am very disappointed to read that you have left the hotel feeling less than satisfied with your experience. I would like to offer you my sincerest apologies regarding the poor standards of housekeeping that you experienced on arrival and the subsequent miscommunication with the housekeeping team. I can see that the team attempted to re-clean the bedroom for you however i completely appreciate the timing wasn't good for you and this should not have been necessary. I am sorry to hear that your sleep was disturbed due to the actions and behaviours of another guest in the hotel, it is always disappointing when the selfish actions of one guest negatively others experiences, however rest assured as soon as we were made aware of the situation the management team took the necessary steps to resolve the situation. Once again Thank you for your valuable feedback and i do hope that this isolated incident does not deter you from staying with us again in the future. Warm Regards - Dean

I arrived at the DoubleTree Hilton via the 10C bus from Canada Water having had the Journey from hell on the train from Yorkshire. Upon arrival I was greeted by a trainee on the desk who was perhaps one of the most polite people I have ever met in a hotel. They gave me the customary warm cookie, allowed me to change my room and also gave me some pointers on the ferry (which leaves from the pier adjoinjing the hotel). During my stay at the hotel I needed to make a cancellation for one day and the hotel after a some small persuasion allowed this. This made a huge difference as I was looking for a place to stay for the months ahead with work. I shall be staying in this hotel over the next few months I will document each visit as experiences can vary but I enjoyed my stay here. A word of warning at £21.00 breakfast is very expensive.

My girlfriend & I went to The Hilton for new years as we wished to see the celebration fireworks while staying in plush hotel with a nice balcony.
Firstly it was not guaranteed that we would receive a room with a balcony, although I was happy to pay the extra for this.
Up until new years eve, then confirmation of the balcony was confirmed, which I may add was fantastic, however lift number 2 was faulty meaning that we could not get to the sixth floor directly which was awkward after being held up at front desk when checking in, with no warning of this.
The room itself was a nice size and on the surface looked nice, however the shower was always about to overflow after 5 mins, the dressing gowns to my surprise looked tired and worn.
We both damn near stubbed our toes several times as the bathroom was narrow and had a big gap between the bathroom and the living area, also 1 thing that I could not understand for quite a price eye hotel there was no fridge.
Overall I loved the location, the balcony and the ferry service from Canary Wharf, however for the money paid I feel that the service was average.

We have just returned from our weekend in London for my husbands birthday and honestly we couldn’t fault the DoubleTree by Hilton!
We arrived in London much earlier than check in and popped in just to ask what time we could check in and what was the best way into the city. Check in was meant to be at 3pm but they let us check in then and there at 10am, had a lovely clean room on the 6th floor with a nice view of the water and the runway from the airport next door (couldn’t hear a single rumble as the planes took off). We got settled and then spent the rest of the day in London, arriving back at the hotel about an hour and a half before our dinner reservation. The food was lovely, we had the slow cook beef mac and cheese and the half chicken with fries and lemon salad, and the toffee and lemon sundaes for dessert, the food was brought to the table in very good time, all cooked very well and nice and hot. Very good nights sleep, the curtains are possibly the best black out curtains I’ve ever seen, when I woke I was sure it must still be the middle of the night as it was so dark but it was 7am! Bed was perfectly comfortable and the pillows were fine (my husband did think they were too small).
Breakfast was fine, I was slightly put off the bacon and the eggs were too runny for my liking, however I am pregnant so much fussier than I normally am! All the food was hot and tasted fine, and again service was very good, we had drinks within a minute of sitting for both meals! Check out wasn’t until 12.30 which is perfect, although we checked out earlier as we had plans, but it didn’t feel rushed at all and we left very happy! Overall can’t fault the staff or the hotel, will definitely stay again!

Stayed here many times, the free ferry from the hotels pier to Canary Wharf is a good alternative and also relatively easy access to the DLR and Underground at Canary Wharf.
Stayed in a Junior suite, which worked well for 2 parents, a four year old and a one year old. However our room was located above the 'beach bar', we stipulated we wanted a 'family' room when we booked and the music playing, and noise on the beach bar terrace was not appreciated at 23:00pm, neither was the very rickety and non child friendly balcony. This was a warm weekend, unable to open the balcony doors as there was nothing to stop the children getting out on to the balcony and the noise also prevented this at night.
Reception excellent and service at breakfast OK, however service in the bar area frustratingly slow and on more than one occasion we were ignored and had to ask to be served (July restrictions were still in place, so only table service should be permitted), people were being served at the bar ahead of people sat at tables.
The cleanliness of the room was poor, Hilton promote a clean stay program, we found wrappers, tissue and accumulation of dirt under the beds, rubber slipper in the wardrobe, chewing gum in the room, the room was tired and in need of some TLC.
Reasonable stay, not the best, and certainly not recommended for families, due to the lack of facilities and suitable rooms. All of the staff we encountered were very good, great with the kids, a shame the hotel don't employ more.

When we booked this hotel we booked an exclusive king room which should have had a king size bed and a sofa bed which wasn’t the case,
Secondly we was supposed to check in at 3pm when we arrived we was told our room would be 15 minutes which we waited 3 hours later we was finally given our room.
When we finally got into our room and went to have a shower there was no hot water when I spoke to reception regarding the issue they said they was aware of this and it should be back up soon however this wasn’t the case and we ended up having a cold shower.
This was booked for a late birthday present for myself we was supposed to be going for a meal in canary whalf at 17:45which I had to cancel as we wasn’t even in our room by this time the time we got Into our room and ready we couldn’t even get on the ferry as it was too late.
Our whole experience and night was ruined but the lateness of the check in. The whole night turnt into a disaster.

Decent views of the River Thames and having a free ferry ride is a touch however that hotel is very expensive. There was no drinking water in my room and was charged £17 for them to bring 2 bottles to my room. That’s a joke, if I knew this beforehand I would’ve bought some water from the local Tesco before arriving.
Please sort out your pricing as it’s extortionate.

Hi there, Yes you are more than welcome to drop your bags off at the hotel on your day of arrival & there is no charge for this. We look forward to welcoming you to the hotel soon. Best Regards- Dean Rigby - General Manager
yes, they do have a storage facility to store luggage.
The Uber Shuttle will cross you the river FOR FREE to Canary Wharf, IF you stay in this hotel. Otherwise, it's about £3/peson. Locals on the same side of the river use it as well. But paying the fee. Don't forget to show your key card AND its hard paper wrapping (you get it at the reception when you check in) to the sailors on the shuttle boat!!!
Once you reach the other side of the river, go straight, and you'll reach the underground station on the Jubilee Line, which takes you to the major tourist attractions. Follow the grey line (the Jubilee Line) of the Underground map.
DON'T FORGET: in London, you pay (for the public transport) as you go. That means you pay by km/mile. More you travel by public transportation, more you pay! So, if you stay in a far away hotel, on the outskirts, you pay more for the transportation (underground).
My advice: either you have a pay-wave bank card, or you buy a transport card (it's £7 only the plastic!) and top it up with about £10/day/adult person. In either case, don't forget to validate it when you get in AND off.
If you hate the Shuttle boat, there is a bus, no. 10C, which takes you to the city. I never used it, but it runs in front of the hotel. I used the Shuttle boat, more convenient and faster.
Good luck!
