Great location for the museums as well as bus and underground routes. Good air conditioned room but the shelf over the TV and dressing table had not been cleaned since it was built - I have never seen dust so thick (I saw it when I stood on a chair to adjust the air con vents)! Friendly, helpful staff but... More

this is an old victorian hotel that has seen numerous updates, including some recent ones to rooms and public spaces. My room was on an "interesting " floor - half way between the 1st floor and lobby. So, you take the elevator to the first floor, then walked down about 6 steps to your floor and around a corner (Probably... More

Best to list rather than comment for clarity; Fingermaks in abundance left by maintenance repairing the aircon. Badly fitted aircon shutter. Luggage scuff marks. Toilet seat fixed askew. Circuitous Route beyond acceptable to room. ( 1st floor on 2 levels ?) Uncovered vent hole above bed, eek ! Mirror in Bathroom did not de-mist ? Lightening in room mainly timed... More

The hotel is pretty but rooms were extremely dusty - we had bad allergies. Rooms were too tight for three with two twin beds, AC was not working, we had to wait 2 days for a fan and an iron. The staff in front desk was not familiar good customer service practices. They blew us off when we said it... More

Nice area to stay, plenty of little cafe / bistro/ couple of pubs , just down the road from underground, South Kensington or Gloucester Road. Just a short walk about a mile from Hyde park, Kensington palace, princess Diana's memorial, Prince Alberts memorial , The Albert hall, national history museum & Victoria & Albert museum. Hotel staff very welcoming &... More

Excellent and attentive staff. Very good situation in London. Unfortunately extremely noisy ventilation system in the back courtyard. When changed to another room, absolute bliss. Would come here every time I'm in London if it weren't for the noisy ventilation.

I stayed here for a few days during a London vacation. I always look to Doubletree first when booking a hotel as I know the name assures a certain degree of quality. The good: Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Fantastic location near two tube stations, with easy access to several of the main lines. Delicious breakfast that was included in... More

This hotel is in a prime London location, where 2 bed apartments sell for £2m, and rentals are around £2000 per week, and parked along the wide streets outside are Range Rovers, Porsches, BMWs and so forth. The hotel has a relatively classy entrance and a wide airy foyer area, with a few comfortable sofas and chairs, and a bar/breakfast... More

This hotel was perfect!! Location is excellent. Located between two underground stops. Walking distance to museums and parks. Quiet at night for sleeping. Staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
