Having just stayed here over the weekend I can honestly say it was so Enjoyable. It was a birthday surprise for my partner and I phoned ahead to let them know. When we got to our room it was such a lovely surprise to see the room had been decorated and some Prosecco on ice. Thank you so much to all staff and especially to Marta that help make our stay special. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

The staff was extremely kind and accommodative in a last minute stay on a holiday! I really appreciated the service. Location is perfect, minutes away from Oxford Street (shops) and Hyde Park (Winter Wonderland in December), great access to transport. Access to 5* service spa in the Montcalm across the road. Rooms are clean, food in room service is good. Highly recommended!!

We booked this the night before travel but we did some research and it looked like it would be nice. There was even a pillow menu and a room fragrance menu! We had high hopes. On arrival we were shown to the breakfast room and given complimentary coffee as we had arrived 40 minutes too early and apparently no rooms were ready. The lady on reception came and told us that a room was now free and would we like to follow her so she could show us to the room. We followed her down to the bowels of the hotel, to an incredibly small room with a tiny window that looked out on to a brick wall opposite. Being a ground floor room, security is important but I found that the window did not lock and none of the windows in the hotel have double glazing so not ideal. The room itself, apart from being tiny (and the lady who showed us to the room could clearly see were not happy about this but she told us that all of the rooms were the same size!!) was run down, tatty and had the worst cream coming from above every time someone walked over the floor. By this time, the lady had left us to it so we decided to go back to reception and make our complaint known. More about the noise than anything else as I wouldn’t have got a wink of sleep. We made our complaint known and the manager came out to speak to us. We were then given another room in the top (4th) floor. This room was considerably bigger and is much better condition. It still had issues in that the toilet dripped constantly but this noise could be negated by closing the door and it also didn’t flush properly. There was a low, intermittent humming noise coming from outside all night that kept me awake. Also the bed itself, a small double with a mattress so well used that I spent what little of the night that I wasn’t kept awake by the noise, trying to cling on to my side of the bed so I didn’t roll into my other half. I mean, I love him but I don’t wish to sleep immediately next to him all night 🤣 The manager apologised to us when she saw us leaving the hotel that evening to find some dinner in the area and offered us drinks in the house. I stated that it was fine and that the better room was sufficient but she insisted that we at least have free the following morning which we agreed to and thanked her for. The morning breakfast. Um, self service we were told so I looked at what was available. Toast with butter and jam. Fried flat mushrooms, some very dried up looking beans and some scrambled (powdered?) eggs that had dried horribly. I asked if we could have some fried eggs, we’ll cooked, and this was brought out for us but nothing else hot available. There were cold items like fruit, olives, yoghurt and mini croissants. There was also a platter with some smoked salmon on it and some cheese slices but these were incredibly old looking and beginning to curl up at the edges. If we had actually paid for that offering, I would have asked for a refund. The staff. Wow. Couldn’t really do enough for you. Every effort was made to help us enjoy our stay and the service was exceptionally good but the building itself let them down. The first lady I spoke to on reception had no idea what I was talking about with the pillow or room scent menu and I wasn’t too happy that she told us that all the rooms were the same size so no point waiting for another room but everyone else tried very hard to make us happy. The hotel needs some tlc, some new windows, a new mattress at least, if not whole new beds and an overhaul of the breakfast selection and quality. The staff are to be commended. The sister hotel over the road, the Montcalm, seems to be in a whole different league but both have been rated as 5 stars. The Marble Arch by Montcalm certainly was NOT a 5 star hotel. You can use the facilities of the sister hotel but if you’re paying for a 5 star hotel to stay in, you do expect a certain level of quality.
