We only stayed for 1 night and although the room was clean and comfortable it was much smaller than I expected with not a lot of storage space and only a view of the side of the next door building. The was no table or shelf on my side of the bed therefore I had to leave my watch and glass of water for overnight on the floor. The hotel breakfast was delicious with a varied choice of cold and hot foods. The hotel is well located within easy reach from the tube station and close to pubs, restaurants and royal parks.

Great location, 3 minute walk from Gloucester Road tube station , 10 minutes walk to Kensington Palace Garden, 15 minutes to Hyde Park , 20 minutes to Harrods - just great to get around ! Javier on the front desk is amazing and so helpful , nothing was too much trouble to help us and we did need him on several occasions this break . The breakfast waitress ( didn’t get her name ) but she worked liked a Trojan , constantly busy but always so happy , she seemed to run the breakfast service one handed whilst we were there . Breakfast offerings were mixed though - Buffett breakfast only on the weekend which we didn’t really like in current covid times as sharing of tongs to serve and not all guests wearing masks leaning over the food as they helped themselves. Weekdays breakfast is a la carte which is better however portion size quite small and disappointed that egg didn’t seem free range ( very pale yolk) The room was clean & compact but adequate however quite warm as AC not best and tbh quite noisy at times . We would definitely recommend this hotel especially as the staff make it , they are a credit to the Melia brand . Thank you for a lovely stay , we will be back !

If one is looking for a truly four-star hotel experience close to major attractions and venues London has to offer (Royal Albert Hall, Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, Harrods is 20 min walk or two stops taking the direct Underground line train, Covent Garden Royal Opera House is also few stops away on the same line, which also runs all the way to/from Heathrow Airport). The hotel has undergone a full renovation in 2019 (when I was staying there for the first time, later on this below). As well as in 2019, It was just an overnight stay for the event at Royal Albert Hall… I felt welcomed from the moment I entered: there was a heat wave hitting London during my visit, and the first thing the receptionist did was offering me something to drink - we went through the reservation afterwards, but it felt great to get comfortable in the cooled air-conditioned lobby sipping the glass of tasty cooled sparkling water. A very nice touch. I was given the Premium Room, and I must say I was impressed by its modern decor and the whole welcome presentation: two small (and very tasty) cakes were waiting for me on the table along with a personal greeting card and a welcome message on the screen; Nespresso coffee machine (four capsules in a nice presentation box), choices of teas and instant coffees, three kinds of pillows to chose from… Again: a very nice touch. Due to circumstances, I had to (unfortunately) fly through London Stansted Airport. On top of this, the airline had changed the departure time from the afternoon to morning, so I was not able to experience the breakfast at Melia Kensington… IMPORTANT: When, reserving an early wake-up call at the reception, I mentioned I wouldn’t be able to have breakfast (starts at 07:00 am on the weekend). They immediately took the initiative to arrange a breakfast basket for me, and, on top of this, they even asked for my preferences! My breakfast basket was simply amazing: I’ve got two quality yogurts, a very nice sandwich, pastries, and fresh fruits. They also offered me a coffee/tea to-go, but I didn’t have time to wait for it to be prepared, unfortunately. I truly enjoyed my breakfast on Stansted Express, and I can only imagine what it would be like having time to experience the four-star breakfast at the hotel. I blame only the airline. Herewith, I would also like to thank (very much) to the former Melia Kensington Hotel Manager: Noelia Castillo Calahorro (who I hope and wish for had moved somewhere up within the Melia group) and its current Manager: Jose Manuel Prol for this pleasant experience. I wanted to start from giving these thanks, but as people scroll the reviews, they probably prefer to hear about the hotel, rather than personal thanks…Nevertheless, I truly want to THANK you both VERY MUCH! For those who are still reading this review, here is the story: I had an overnight at Melia Kensington in March 2019, attending the event at Royal Albert Hall. I booked my stay though Melia app, and I was not aware that the hotel was undergoing renovation. I left a negative review then, as at that time my experience was awful. I posted my negative review just to share my experience, not expecting any action from the hotel. To my surprise, the hotel that-time-manager - Noelia Castillo Calahorro replied to my review, offering… guess what… a free night stay at the hotel, valid for one year offer. Then the world got hit by CIVID-19 pandemic- no travel, and all venues closed. Hard times for all, wasn’t it? Since travel restrictions were lifted this July, and many of the venues reopened, I rushed to London to attend the long-posponed James Blunt concert. To be honest, I thought that Noelia’s offer was kind of a “past-due” one, but I decided to contact her anyway: to my surprise I’d got the immediate reply from Noelia and then - the immediate follow-up from Jose. The rest you know from the above. So, once again, Noelia, Jose - THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCH! I’ll definitely chose Melia Kensington for my next London event - the Royal Albert Hall and other venues do have the exciting schedule forward - let’s hope that the COVID-19 pandemic wouldn’t be able to stop any of these planned events - it is always a pleasure visiting London.

We had the best experience at this beautiful hotel. The decor was gorgeous throughout the hotel and did not disappoint. The staff were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. We were even lucky enough to have a complimentary treat sent up to our room. The breakfast was so yummy a great selection was available. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxurious romantic stay, that won’t break the bank. We also booked ourselves an afternoon tea for the following day in the joining restaurant. And it was beautiful. It was delicious and very exquisite.
