Our booking was completely messed up by booking.com. We'd booked and paid for an Executive Room with a Kingsize bed, but on arrival were told we'd been booked into a small double. I showed the Hotel Receptionist my confirmation and he showed me the details he'd received from Booking.Com. There were no Executive Rooms available for the two nights we were in London. I called Booking.com and spoke to Honor who was in fairness very helpful and honest and admitted that they'd inadvertently booked us the wrong room and offered a full refund. But ... we were in London to visit our daughter, had tickets for the theatre and we needed a bed for the night. The Front of House Manager at the Ambassador moved a few things around and managed to get us into a 'deluxe double 'on the corner of the top floor. The room was fine but that's not why I'm giving this hotel 5 stars. The staff are amazing! From the receptionist to the Manager to Housekeeping and Cleaners; so helpful beyond, friendly, accommodating and professional. The Manager took us to our room and insisted on carrying our cases and seeing us settled. He even commiserated with us on Wales' World Cup loss to Iran. I went on a wander to familiarise myself with the fire exits. A member of housekeeping spotted me and gave me a full tour of the top floor! On the Saturday night we ate at the hotel and enjoyed a lovely meal. We'd had a long day walking, shopping, eating and drinking and all I wanted was a glass of cold milk. The Maitre'D hid a small smile on my request, but then proceeded to ask 'warm, hot, chocolate, frothy ... how would you like your milk, madam" He brought me a perfect, cold glass of whole milk on a silver tray with a linen napkin and presented it to me with a flourish. They didn't even charge us. It's the little things that mean such a lot. I really hope the management of the Ambassadors Bloomsbury read this review. Please appreciate your staff - they are just brilliant! Lisa Morris, Aberdare 25t - 27th November.…
The room was tiny, the bathroom was a joke, the windows overlooked disgusting walls less than a couple of meters away with fungus and moss, dirty towels were lying around this area, cold air was blowing in constantly. The hotel staff were of no help and even put the blame for the defective heating back on the guest, although they themselves sat in nicely heated environment. The air con system was also extremely noisy and the corridors were dirty. The reception and the restaurant staff continuously said opposite things and did not seem to have good communication.
Came down from Birmingham for a 2 night getaway. Amazing service from Rahat and Basil. Great guys! They will definitely make your stay worth it. Amazing food in the restaurant and great staff there too! All in al great stay! Be sure to say hi to the two gentleman whilst your there.
Had a lovely stay , Great location . Both breakfast & Dinner in the restaurant were lovely . Friendly efficient staff . Rooms are small , some furniture definitely needs replacing . Bed was really small . Reasonable rates for London around £200 at the weekend .
A historic hotel located in the heart of Bloomsbury, this is a central location to museums, concert halls and other high points to see. It’s walking distance to San Pancras Church, San Pancras Station, the British Library and British Museum. Easy access to Russell Tube Station, The Brunswick Centre, Dickens Museum and Children’s park. I stayed here for a month and I so enjoyed it. The room I booked was the double deluxe. It had a Nespresso machine, hot water pot, free biscuits every day. The shower was nice- but don’t expect an electrical outlet in the bathroom. It’s a wet room, so all appliances need to be used outside the area. Towel warmer was a great touch. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The bed was fabulous- soft comfortable pillows and warm comforter. True: some of the furnishings were a little rough, but be forgiving- the hospitality industry has had a difficult two years. Maid service was spot on and had everything cleaned timely each day. The exercise room was great and the equipment was in excellent condition. Most importantly, I felt safe in my room. I’m a woman traveling alone and not once did I worry or feel afraid. It’s a great location with wonderful people. I’d recommend this hotel for families, lone travelers and it’s a good place for business as well.…
The hotel is looking very tired and could do with a make over. There was a very unpleasant smell on the 6th floor, just outside the lift. Smell like wet, stale mops or towels. Our room was ok, the bed was comfortable, quite and clean. The shower was nice. There was no breakfast included, which for £200 a night, would of expected something, even a coffee and a croissant. The wifi was very good, don't think you would need to pay for the upgrade. We would go to a differnet hotel next time we are in London.
The entrance to the hotel is imposing, and the staff on reception are friendly, helpful and efficient. However, we were very disappointed with our room as it was so small there was hardly any room to move or to put anything. The same in the bathroom. After a day of travelling, we were looking forward to relaxing with a glass of champagne in the bar, but couldn't believe it when we were told they didn't have any (despite it being on the drinks menu). Nor could they find any nuts etc., which seems extraordinary for a hotel in central London. Breakfast was fairly average, although the serving staff were very pleasant. Overall we felt we would have had better value for money had we stayed at one of the 'chain' of hotels nearby.
This hotel overcharged my card on file, by a second night which I did not stay. I have been waiting for a refund now for two months which they have decided to now ignore. When I brought up the overcharge, they agreed to refund me only after I provided proof that I did not stay at their hotel a second night! That in itself is so unprofessional! How do you not know where/how long your guest are staying?! I chose not to stay a second night because the room was so dingy and filthy. Marked walls, and carpets like a night club floor that your shoes stuck to. I could not take my shoes off in that room. It was definitely a low 3 star and nowhere near a 4 star as claimed. Beware of staying here as you may also get fraudulently charged on your card for services/nights, and be waiting for a refund for months.. if at all. DO NOT recommend.…
Very poor and overpriced. Room was in a state of disrepair with cracks in walls and faulty lighting. Was on zoom call during the day and was constantly disturbed by staff banging doors and shouting outside the room. Was placed in someone else's seat at breakfast (said customer was not impressed). Information in the room regarding room service had incorrect opening times listed. When I informed staff of same they did not appear to be bothered by same.
