Beautiful hotel right underneath the London Eye. We had a river view which include unrestricted viewing of Big Ben. The staff was excellent - concierge was extremely helpful with insider tips on best tour bus companies. The house restaurant was terrific, both for breakfasts and fancy dinners. The room rates were quite "grand" as well.

I was upgraded to a large suite, I had separate sleeping and living areas, as well as a generous sized bathroom. I loved everything about this hotel from the historic exterior to the proximity to London tourist sites. The evening view of Big Ben and the Thames was breathtaking!

The location of this hotel cannot be better: right next to the London Eye and Waterloo Station. You can easily walk to most major attractions. I stayed for 5 nights in August 2016. My family of 3 received a fairly large room (not sure if it was a standard room, perhaps it was an upgrade) which was very nice. You... More

The hotel is clean and spacious, we found the staff friendly, location great, however (as last time) scaffolding outside the room window. The room was half a mile (probably exaggerating but not much) from lift - the staff just thought it was funny - no help or sympathy

We came here for a wedding anniversary which was meant to be special. We told staff at the checkin it was our anniversary and you would think they would take note. Instead they gave us a room at the very opposite end of the building down a long hallway which faced scaffolding and had no view whatsoever. At night there... More

We arrived very early in the morning and they were able to get us in a room right away (we expected to not be able to check in until that afternoon). In addition, they allowed us a very late checkout of 3pm! The staff was fantastic and friendly and we were impressed by the beauty of the hotel. Once on... More

If you are a tourist, the location can't be beat. That's why the charge so much money and can get away with it. Tube stations nearby and of course, Parliament Houses, London Eye, etc. So for location, 4-5 stars. So why only 2 stars? Many things: Check-in and check out. PAINFULLY SLOW. The front desk people are super friendly, but... More

Yes, this is a big hotel full of tourists; well my partner and I were tourists for a weekend. The location is excellent being right in the middle of London walking distance from the city of Westminster and the west end, plus all the fun of southbank. We visited for an afternoon tea and yes the Library is a great location and we had great views of the Thames. Yes the Cava flows freely but I was disappointed by the food. The sandwiches had hardly any filling in, the small quiches were yummy but overall I could not recommend it. There were sweet and savoury scones, very... More

The afternoon tea was lovely the staff were great and really friendly but the whole thing was spoilt ? by the 12.5% service charge added to the bill. The Waldorf and the Dorchester don't add a service charge so why does the Marriott feel it has too

Staying in Southbank

Neighborhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
