My daughter planned a surprise getaway for a belated birthday treat and she did not disappoint. This hotel is not only kept very tidy and is very roomy in every way but it is also situated ideally for site seeing. Our room, although a standard room was very light and tidy and having a small fridge was perfect for our... More

We booked a one night stay for an event in the capital. We checked in at 3pm so we could dump our bags and scoot off. It was quite busy at this time however, it was only a short wait until registered and went to our room (470). Our allocated room was for disabled persons. It was a spacious room... More

I have stayed in a number of hotels in London both on business and family trips and the ones I stayed in seem pricey but never really great. The doubletree Hilton let's start with reception Got to the hotel, went to the desk greeted by a wonderful young man, who checked us in and gave us some great cookies and... More

We stayed here overnight as a treat for my boyfriends birthday. On arrival check in was easy and efficient, and we were able to enter our room even though it was only 12 midday. We were also given a warm cookie each which is a nice touch after travelling. Our room was on the 5th floor and it was very... More

Very central and convenient location, many places within walking distance. Rooms are practical and perfectly fine. Staff is friendly, and I never experienced any long queues at checkin/out. This is one of the very few business hotels that is neither noisy nor has old/ bad quality windows (that do not keep the cold/ noise etc. out) - so much recommended

An excellent location, next to London Tower, underground, etc. Which certainly brings many people to stay over. Which, in turn, seems to cause lots of problems for this hotel in coping with the crowds. Long lines to check in, long lines to check out. Long lines at breakfast, we had to wait some 20 minutes just to get in the... More

This hotel is ideally located for transport into other areas of London. It is in the business district near to the pickle and walkie talkie. It is just across the road from the tower of London and just over the bridge from The Shard. We walked back and to to the central shopping area of Oxford Street. It took around... More

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
