Comfortable beds, wonderful architecture, brilliant location and not silly money. Bathroom was a little dated, some may say the rooms are but I quite liked the traditional look as it didn't look too tired. Let down for me was the breakfast, the older staff were very blunt. There were no pastries and cheap bread, but the worst bit was the... More

The room was dated, but clean. You could hear the people next door and above you and the shower was very low not waist hight but nearly. Breakfast was just bread and jam, co co pops and orange juice, tea and coffee anything else you had to pay for. Currently there are renovations so some signs saying wet paint and... More

My family and I have stayed there three times in the past; the early 1980s. I was told that it was a military officer's club or an R&R location during and after WWII. The first time we were there we drove. We parked the car in their lot and never considered using it while we were there. The location has... More

I expect to get what I pay for but I wouldn't return to this hotel. Not the best arrival (we stood waiting whilst the staff finished joking with each other) then once we were acknowledged nobody could locate the checking in book. We were directed to our room and got a bit of a shock when the lift doors opened,... More

What a lovely hotel - it is very dated with the decor and furnishings - but it is very clean, warm, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I stayed for 3 nights - £85 for a single room with breakfast- it is straight across the road from Hyde Park, 5 minutes walk from Lancaster Gate Tube station. 5--10... More

Loved our stay great location for the purpose of our visit!! Breakfast was nice too, although the room was a little dated it really didn't matter. The staff were really friendly and helpful regarding our request of luggage storing the following morning, even though we weren't trying the night after, but it really made our day very helpful as we... Stayed there quite a few times over the Last few years has an impressive frontal façade and while its has good Public rooms the decor is of another era but it is well decorated and clean, the Hotel rooms are a little care worn but again are clean and in the rooms we have stayed in a comfortable bed plenty... It's an old , traditional English property. Furniture and fittings have not been upgraded for decades. Beds and pillows are lumpy and uncomfortable. Breakfast was passable but generally lower quality ingredients. The only saving grace of the Columbia is its proximity to several tube stations on the red and green lines plus Hyde park which is lovely all year round.
