We expected, from earlier London visits, a tiny room with old plumbing in this Victorian mansion but to our surprise we got a decent size twin room with modern fittings on one of the upper floors. Good continental breakfast included and friendly, helpful staff. Will stay there again.

I found th is hotel through the booking office at Waterloo, after arriving in London on short notice. Great price, and a fantastic location just by Gloucester Road tube station and an easy walk to Earl's Court. Beautiful room, called a cabin, but had a very good bathroom attached and interesting views. Breakfast was amazing, and the late-night in-house bar... More

Stayed for business . Room was clean and well presented but small, single bed was against the wall, no room for a bedside table. Continental breakfast included in my rate, but staff did not seem ready to serve breakfast at 7am and were a bit chaotic in their approach. Tea poured out by the waitress was coffee - and after... I chose this hotel because I know the grange hotels and I needed to stay between victoria and portobello. for that, the location was perfect. on arrival I realised I had stayed before in the same hotel, in a single room and a twin room! the singles are really tiny, but you have a modern (if small) shower room, and... The room n the 5th floor was very quite. These rooms are often small and this was no exception but it was well decorated and the shower was excellent. Breakfast was continental but has lots of variety with fruits eats and cheeses. Great location for the west end and very friendly and helpful staff. The bar prices were not killers... More

Not impressed.. for the price I am paying..£567 for 5 nights.. breakfast isn't included, it doesn't start till 7, the rooms are tiny and couldn't swing a cat in it! It's July and yesterday it was 29°C and the hotel doesn't even have air con. I've slept with the window open so far.. the waters barely cold! No bottles water..... More

We stayed at this hotel for a weekend and took the family room which has 3 separate beds. The room is large, surprisingly rather new or at least renovated, as was the bathroom (which had a variety of many toiletries). The only things that felt like they needed some retouch were the floor that creaked and the window that wasn't... More

We have been positively surprised by our pleasant stay at Grange Strathmore Hotel in London. Very proximal to the underground station and positioned close to Victoria station for easy access to Gatwick and the Rail network. Refurbished family room was a bit small, but bathroom and facilities as well as breakfast made up. Excellent staff and services provided. Bed mattresses... More

Stayed here Saturday night as two couples in two rooms. Rooms are really tiny! on the fifth floor at least. Hotel has lovely decor. We weren't given an option to upgrade our breakfast on check in to a cooked breakfast which we found a bit odd. But apart from that it is a good location, parking is an issue but... More

Stayed here on a Sunday night at a very reasonable rate. Breakfast not included but don't worry as plenty of cafes st round the corner. Would strongly recommend Muriel's Kitchen! Good looking from the outside, slightly tired inside. Lower ground level bedrooms which were quite small but perfectly adequate. Strange shower and toilet configuration - not very user friendly access.... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
