My expectations of this property were much higher. Rooms are very small, furniture looks tired. There's only 1 elevator being used for 70 rooms. The elevator is too small even for 2 people with luggage, at times you'll have to wait for a while to get in. Breakfast is average. Room service is prompt and quality of food is good....

I had previously stayed in the South Kensington area at another hotel and paid double the price that I paid here, and I thought the staff, room quality and amenities at the Grange were just as nice as the more expensive place. The lobby was a little old school, but once we got up to our room, it was very...

We stayed for one night in a family room and it was brilliant. We booked a triple room and found ourselves in a quad room with lots of space. Everything was clean and comfortable. Lots of tea and coffee in the room and good toiletries that are SLS free (if that sort of thing is important to you). We have...

If you want friendly people, this is the place. However, if you want a comfortable bed and room, keep looking. My single room was tiny, drafty and uncomfortable. I'm fine with the size, but a place to put my suitcase would have been nice. No closet or safe, barely room for the toilet in the bathroom. The bed was HARD....

I stayed at the Grange Strathmore for 4 nights. The place is clean, very adequate sized rooms for a couple and very very good value for London and particularly for the area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Having stayed in numerous boutique hotels in London in this area, I can say this has been without doubt the best....

The Grange Strathmore is a charming hotel in a lovely area and the staff are really friendly, BUT it is a bit like Faulty Towers! Communication skills are lacking - my husband was staying here the night before our wedding and we had a number of rooms booked. I received an email before everyone's arrival that day to say they...

The Grange Strathmore is a great hotel for a West London stay. Located in a fairly quiet side street, but still close to the tube station and a short walk to the Natural History Museum and Harrods. Although the building is nice and the bedrooms are clean and well appointed, the best part is the staff. Each time we asked...

This was our first stay in Kensington and my wife booked this hotel for 2 nights for my Birthday. The hotel is not very well advertised outside so please study the map to find it. Other hotels have signs hanging outside but not this one! The staff on entering were very friendly and we had been given an upgrade to...

Thank you for your detailed review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Your comments have been noted. We hope that you will have the opportunity of staying again in the future. There is very little difference between the nearest tube stations, according to Googlemaps Gloucester Road is a 4 minute walk and South Kensington 6 minutes!

We stayed at the Grange Strathmore in December for 3 nights in a "superior double" room. I will note here that we are two normal (i.e., not obese) sized people. This was the most cramped room I could imagine. There was NOWHERE to even put one's suitcase, let alone the luggage for two people. There was room in the closet...

I am sorry that your expectations were not fully satisfied on this occasion. The Grange Strathmore Hotel is a townhouse hotel and the rooms do vary in size. Please do come again on your next trip to England and we will provide you with an upgrade due to your previous disapointment.

I stayed here for two nights during a casual visit to London. My reasonably compact double room was well laid out and quite adequate for me as I was generally out and about. The styling was tasteful enough. My room was on the third floor near the end of a hallway and facing west and I had no issues with...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
