I am an IHG member and try to stay in their hotels if it suits my needs. I had booked an accessible room as I need a walk in shower. Central reservations assured me that this hotel has accessible rooms with walk in showers. Well let me tell you that they don't. When we spoke to the front desk they scoffed and said 'what does Central Reservations know, we don't have a single walk in shower'. Not a good sign for such a well known brand, where the left hand is unaware of what the right hand is doing. I had to settle for what goes for their accessible room and toilet. The room was large enough, but with very old carpets, lumpy mattresses and dated furniture/fixtures. The bathroom was large enough to accomodate a wheelchair, but that is about the only concession to disability. The bathtub was a nightmare and extremely dangerous to get in and out of. The shower curtain just added to the danger. There is ample room in there to add a shower cubicle. The commode is the strangest one I have ever seen: with the hole in the FRONT portion. I later heard that this is a WW2 design used in German Hospitals!!! The room did not have enough storage. If these rooms are meant to be disabled friendly, some lower level drawers and shelves might be useful. Breakfast was the same old, same old menu for every single day of the seven days that we were there. one day, I asked for a stuffed omelette and it looked as if made by a total amateur. Most of the staff at breakfast were responsive and friendly, some had attitude and I think the management is aware of those people. The two plus points for this Hotel are location and staff. Situation is brilliant, you are minutes away from transport, food and drink. The staff are extremely helpful and proactive. But at their current prices, even as a member, I would not stay again. I did not get value for money.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent stay. I sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered regarding the accessible room and the inconsistencies between our central reservations and the hotel’s offerings. Your experience is certainly not the standard we strive for at IHG. I’m glad to hear that you appreciated the location and found our staff to be helpful and proactive. However, I understand your frustrations regarding the room's condition and the breakfast options. We take your comments seriously and will work to address these concerns, especially regarding accessibility features and the variety in our dining options. Your insights are invaluable as we aim to improve our services and ensure a better experience for all our guests. We hope you will consider giving us another chance in the future.

We enjoyed our one night stay at this hotel. We arrived a little early but we're able to check in and leave our luggage. Helpful friendly staff who also offered us a drinks voucher which we used when we returned later in the evening after a show. We were also able to efficiently collect our luggage and room keys at this time. Breakfast was very nice and the hot food was still hot under the warming lights and there were hot plates - amazingly this is something that can no longer be taken for granted, so a big plus !
On the downside, the room was very small and a bit basic and the bed mattress was very soft and bouncy. The air conditioning created a permanent draft even when switched off.
However there was instant hot water and a great shower. The location is great as well just a few steps from Russell Square tube and only a short walk or taxi from Kings Cross/St Pancras

We stopped here as a family of 4 for one night as part of a short break deal with river cruise through Holiday Extras. This hotel is a short walk (around 5 mins) from Euston Train station, so when we arrived in London we went to the hotel and they held our bags for us until check in time which was amazing. The Russell Square tube station is round the corner from the hotel conveniently on the Piccadilly Line for most tourist spots. There is also Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Tesco, Starbucks and other eateries all within a stones throw from the hotel. We checked in at 4pm, it was simple and straight forward, the staff were lovely giving both of the kids an activity pack and a "wish" they could trade in at the coffee bar which was a nice touch. The room had a double bed (very soft mattress) with a double sofa bed for the kids (lumpy mattress). I was a bit dubious about the double sofa bed at first with so much exposed metal but they are 9 and 11 so old enough to be careful. The room was clean but the bathroom could have done with a bit more attention after we found a used plaster on the floor when we walked in. We had breakfast the morning we checked out which was your standard hotel buffet fayre with a pancake making machine, the food wasn't the hottest but there was plenty and set us up for the day. On check out they kept our bags until we needed to head back to Euston to get our train. We had a wonderful stay but it's not the right hotel for us with the kids, only because we discovered they need a single bed each rather sharing a double.

It's wonderful to hear about your family's short break experience with us! Our proximity to Euston Train station and Russell Square tube station indeed makes us an ideal choice for travelers exploring London. We're thrilled that you appreciated our luggage-holding service upon arrival and enjoyed the convenience of nearby amenities and eateries. We're glad to hear that your check-in process was smooth and that our staff's hospitality, including the thoughtful activity packs for the kids, made your stay special. However, we apologize for any discomfort caused by the sofa bed and the cleanliness oversight in the bathroom. Your feedback is invaluable, and we'll use it to improve our services. It's fantastic to know that you found our breakfast offerings satisfactory and that our bag-holding service came in handy during check-out. While we're grateful for your kind words, we understand your preference for separate beds for the kids, and we'll take this into consideration for future stays. Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for an even more tailored experience in the future!

The location of this Hotel and the price make it perfect for a day in London, we wanted an evening at the Theatre, shopping and ease to get around central London and this ticked all the boxes
Rooms were ok, the staff were very friendly which is not always what I get in London and the breakfast was great.
For a case without payment the really high prices this is perfect, really enjoyed our stay

No plugs next to bed. No usb plugs at all. Noisy air conditioner, windows do not open at all. The physical condition of the room should have been better.
There are only UK plugs in the room and they are SELLING EU adaptor for ÂŁ6. Since there is no EU Plug in the room they should have provided adaptors free of charge.
WiFi speed very slow.
Tiny and smelly bathroom. Bathtub was so old that I was discussed to fill it up with water. The showerhead is fixed on the wall instead of having a handheld showerhead like all hotels nowadays.
The bottle with the shower was filled with just 3 pumps of the product.
Holiday Inns must stop having shower curtains and change to glass doors instead. Shower curtains are disgusting.
The TV should have been hanged on the wall to save some space on the desk..
The so called Double bed was rather a very small bed, tiny for a couple.
I don't understand how they "strive to make each stay comfortable".. its clear they haven't change a thing for decades.
Only positive thing is the location and proximity to Russell Square tube, but there are cheaper and much better options in the area.
I wouldn't stay there again if not a major renovation of rooms take place. Not recommended.

Stayed here for two nights for a training course. Location was excellent for the venue (Hamilton House) and Euston/St Pancras. Staff were friendly, approachable and helpful. There was a bit of a mix up with the third party company and meal credits but it all got sorted. Had the breakfast both mornings, dining room during breakfast was very hot and crowded but there was a good selection of food and a pancake machine. Ordered the breakfast as room service on the second morning, can't fault the service but they gave me far too much I wish there was a way to specify how many of each item you wanted as 4 sausages and 4 bacon slices was too much. Had room service meal and restaurant mean on each night, can't really fault the food but it was a bit pricey. Room was clean and comfortable but smaller than the average Holiday Inn room, would have probably felt over crowded if there was two of us. Towels were replaced despite me leaving them hanging up as requested to save the environment. Pillows were a bit uncomfortable (not what I'm used to) but bed was good. AC unit worked as intended and was a relief considering how hot it was outside. Room was quiet and black out curtains worked as intended Would stay again. Would have liked the option to take the stairs to reception not just emergency ones (I may have missed these).

the location is superb, tube stop Russell Square (Piccadilly Line) 1 stop from King's Cross station, outside the tube stop just cross the street and you are already at the back of the hotel. The welcome was very good, suitcases were kept after check-in. 3 lifts, so never wait long. Room with bath and shower, and with both soap, shampoo and conditioner at the bath! Room was quite large by London standards. Hanging cabinet with many coat racks, so ideal for long dresses or pants. Ironing board and iron also provided! Also kettle, with instant coffee and different types of tea available. Breakfast room was big enough. Plenty present, with possibility to make fresh pancakes. The manager of the breakfast room kindly accommodated us with a special request. In the evening in Callaghan's Pub (in the hotel) we had a drink and dinner, and the young lady with the long brown hair (who was afterwards in the hotel bar) was super friendly!!! Check-out went without problems, again no problem made to keep all our luggage for another day. We will definitely be back! The lesser things: In the room was carpet, I don't like it with my dust mite allergy. There was only 1 shelf, and the bottom of the cupboard, with 3 people this was difficult, fortunately 2 large drawers at the desk. No power outlet at the bedside. The extra padlock on the door was broken. No fridge, the place where it had clearly been, we used as extra storage space. In the bathroom were only 2 glasses for 3 guests, probably small oblivion. A shelf under the sink would be useful to put your things on. The ladies on and in the breakfast room were not as friendly as the rest of the hotel staff.

I felt it was right to leave a review after a very disappointing experience at the Holiday Inn in Bloomsbury. It was only a one night stay due to work. The location is excellent and the standard of the cleaning very good (despite the dated condition of the rooms), however it turned out that there was no hot water in the room and that was not communicated by the staff of the hotel, who said that this issue was affecting several rooms and that the problem was under investigation. Not knowing if/when this was going to be resolved, I thought to use the kettle to at least boil some water and mix it up with cold water, but the kettle was not working either apparently because of a fuse issue. They said they were going to send somebody to check but no one came to control. The room was also cold and I had to ask to turn on the AC to warm it up. Being there for just a night, it was certainly not ideal. As I essentially had no assistance from the staff. I was surprised they did not offer an alternative room and I had to use freezing water. Only after complaining they said they were going to provide a 20% refund and reassured this has been immediately actioned. I obviously did not bother checking if this was actually the case, particularly as - when I asked for the invoice - the amount of money that appeared was lower than the one I paid the night before, and before my stay started. So I thought I could trust them the refund was made. I have now checked and the refund did not happen instead. I am sorry to say that this hotel definitely does not meet the standard criteria for a 4 star hotel.
But it is fair to say that the staff at the bar was kind.

Miserable experience for my Birthday. Stayed at this property for 8 nights. Upon checkin I had requested and prior to this at booking I had requested a high room away from elevator - I was given a room opposite the elevator on level 3. The room was very noisy with people congregating for the lifts and the lift makes a beep every time someone presses the button outside my door. I asked for a slightly earlier checkin of 2:15pm they didn’t have my room ready until 2:45pm. The staff were inexperienced in the benefits of gold elite nor did they thank me for my loyalty. The room was old and shabby with all the furniture chipped and old. There was no soap in the room. The iron was rotten. There was a huge hole under the door where the corridor light would come through. I had left the green stay badge on door for my entire stay and have photos daily of this. The hotel staff at checkout emailed me after and made an accusation that I didn’t leave it on the door I don’t appreciate being falsely accused. Hardly the hospitality. The room temperature can’t be controlled. The Wi-Fi internet doesn’t even run properly and constantly drops out and when connected the speed is so slow. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Booked to stay the night at this hotel whilst visiting London. The reception staff were more than accommodating and the rooms are nice and clean. Bed is comfy and the shower was warm. Unfortunately we were situated on the third floor, right at the end next to a cleaners cupboard. This meant at 0700 hours we were woken up by the cleaners getting their trolleys ready. As we can appreciate they have a job to do, they were very noisy, chatting and banging around. I asked them once to be quiet as we were trying to sleep but this didn’t seem to help matters. I called reception and the lady was very apologetic but explained the hotel was full and they were unable to relocate us. Just a little frustrating when you pay a lot of money to stay in London and you’re woken early to the sound of banging about. Shame

It is not very far to walk. Mainly not in central streets. We did it. The blue tube line leads to the station but there is a lot to walk inside the station.
There are more places to choose from in the London area.
