Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.

I am not normally the sort of person to write bad reviews, as I appreciate stuff happens in life and I don't mind if everything is not perfectly perfect all of the time! We have stayed at this hotel many times as it's location is good for Covent Garden. On this last visit the hot water was not working for the whole hotel so it was cold showers for us! This was inconveient as a good shower in the morning is 50% of the reason I want a decent hotel. The management offered us free breakfast, which I didn't really fancy in a kitchen with no hot water..so a paltry 20% discount was given when I asked if there was a discount. I couldn't be bothered to argue with this decision as the queue was building up with all the people complaining. I have to say the reception and HSK staff were BRILLIANT - courteous and helpful even under pressure. But the management's decision I thought was a poor one, as we won't stay at this hotel again for fear of the cold shower treatment.

The rooms are ok and small but the hotel is tired. The plumbing is old style British and although it works it is dated and in need of updating. The worse thing is that the hall carpets are tired and the hotel smells of air freshner and cleaning fluids. You hold your nose as you walk to your room and it is not a lot better when you get to the room.

***** CoronaVirus ***** We are native Singaporean Chinese born in the era of post british colonial. On Jan 14 this year, we made a booking on Trip.com (ref: 11930608825) for 2 nights stay on 23~25 March 2020. We planned to visit your beautiful city and learn about your culture. Unfortunately we wouldn't be able to proceed as the vast spreading Covid19 was not expected when we made our booking on 14 Jan! Hence, we wrote in numerous emails to both trip.com and directly to holiday inn bloomsbury. First requesting to cancel our booking and it was REJECTED! Next we requested to postpone our stay and was again REJECTED! THANK YOU so much for your understanding. Your action of disregarding our travel history and health condition together with your ignorance of the well being of your guests, vistors to your country and your fellow citizens has demonstrated your nation "beautiful" culture. If you are a guest that wish to stay in this hotel, please be extra cautious! An extract of the email from your hotel: Dear XXX, Your booking is prepaid non refundable, so it can't be amended in dates for free. Best regards, Ilaria Reservation Team - Holiday Inn London-Bloomsbury

Stayed her for 2 nights. There were many positive things, for instance it was a very quiet place to sleep, always a bonus in a large city and very near to all transport links, although we chose to walk everywhere. Staff were very friendly and helpful and always on hand to help. I noticed them arranging taxis for people and they were very quick to supply to firmer pillows when I told them that mine were a bit soft. The room we had was of a good size, especially for London with plenty of storage. The aircon could be used as heating, which was most useful with Storm Dennis blowing in through the window vents! It is also right next to the Bloomsbury shopping centre with plenty of shops and a Boots Chemist. Also a fab pub right opposite called the Marquis Cornwallis, which serves good food in a buzzing atmosphere. There is also a bar attached to the Holiday Inn. It is very secure as entry to the lifts is only with your room keycard so non residents can't access the floors. I can't comment on the food as we chose to eat breakfast out rather than pay over inflated London hotel prices and found a few independent businesses serving a variety of breakfasts at great prices. I felt that the room itself was a bit dated, hence my mixed feelings. I like old fashioned furniture but this just seemed to be characterless and dated. Maybe I've just been spoiled, having spent the previous weekend in a fab small B&B in LLandudno. I couldn't help but compare! The wardrobe too was a little annoying as instead of one long bar inside goind across the width, there was on tiny bar goind from back to front, which made it quite difficult to get to clothes and reduced the hanging space. Lamps above the bed were some sort of wierd plastic cone shaped things that looked like some child's homework project. Having said all this, there is nothing wrong with the hotel and I would consider it again as it's within a 10 minute walk from Euston Station and Tottenham Court Road.
