We had a complimentary upgrade and the room was very comfortable and quiet. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Breakfast great but 'extra' to the price we paid which I did not realise before booking. Marylebone high street is a village atmosphere within a City with everything to hand. Oxford street within an easy walk. Careful though, undergrounds are... More

Durrants is a comfortingly old-fashioned hotel and central yet away from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street. The room was well appointed and comfortable though could have been improved by having a tea tray available. Breakfast at Durrants is a real treat; while I'm very happy with a buffet, there is something rather special about a served breakfast specially... More

I am bewildered by some of the recent bad reviews for this delightful hotel, and I suspect that the truth is that if you are rude to people they will be rude back. Several reviewers complain of rudeness and coldness from the staff. Nonsense! From the moment I approached the front door yesterday and it was opened for me by... More

Clean rooms, decent price, pleasant staff and well-situated in central London. Down-sides are that the table in the room wasn't big enough to take a laptop and be able to work on and the bathroom was looking a bit tired. Durrants is also another example of a worrying trend for charging extras for what used to be standard, in this... More

This hotel lacks atmosphere - you are "greeted" at every turn by questioning impolite staff - a facade of quality service manned by poorley trained staff with little or no comprehension of the English language - over priced and stuffy - try the Holiday Inn round the corner - its not pretending to be what it is not

Having stayed at Durrants for the first time, I was rather impressed. The main appeal of this hotel is the olde world charm of the hotel. With distinct air of a private members' club, it manages oddly to feel both cosy and slightly aloof at the same time. The room we stayed in badly needed of a few updates. Wallpaper... More

I have stayed at Durrants extensively over the past 6 years. The staff are very friendly and attention, the breakfast elegant and fast. The small bar has an old club feel with oil painting of the hunt - and the location in Marylebone is very convenient. It is never noisy, and they often have great sales.

Loved the hotel - loved the staff - loved the whole experience - look forward to going back. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable - quite pricey but worth it - I am saving for next stay already.

stayed for 3 nights at durrants hotel, when I arrived although I had pre paid the total amount for the stay I was asked for a further £150 for "cover" in case I ate there etc, I refused to pay & after some debate they agreed. the room although decked with designer shower gel, shampoo & surplus cushions, had no... I've stayed here a few times when getting a good rate and always come away wishing that I could be let loose on turning the place round. It looks lovely - planting, lighting etc outside and the lovely old world 'club' feel inside - its in a great location BUT it just could be so much better. Despite asking for... More

Staying in Marylebone

Neighborhood Profile
Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighborhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
