Very nice hotel in a central location for seeing everything as the underground stations are nearby. We were originally in a room on the left hand side of the hotel and found it too noisy as there are 3 restaurants/pubs located there. We were offered free earplugs but I can't use them so we were offered a new room at the back of the hotel. Bit smaller room but much better. 2 free bottles of water and tea/coffee, biscuit selection. Also if staying 2 nights + you can manage without using housekeeping services you get 1 free breakfast. The buffet breakfast is very good. Staff are lovely and always smiling, also very helpful. Bags can be stored at reception as checkout is at 11am, we picked ours back up at 3pm. Lovely restaurants nearby and umbrellas can be hired for 24 hours from entrance to hotel for a small charge.

Thistle London Bloomsbury Park offers a mixed experience for its guests. Situated in the heart of London’s West End, the hotel boasts a prime location close to popular attractions such as the British Museum, Covent Garden, and various theaters. This makes it an ideal choice for visitors looking to explore central London with ease.
The hotel itself is housed in an Edwardian building, providing a charming historical ambiance. Guests appreciate the convenient access to public transport, including Russell Square station, which enhances the overall accessibility of the city.
Reviews highlight the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, often mentioned as a positive aspect of the stay. The breakfast selection is generally praised for its variety and quality, offering a range of hot and cold options that cater to different tastes.
However, there are several areas where the hotel falls short. Some guests have noted that the rooms and facilities could benefit from refurbishment, pointing out issues such as outdated bathrooms, single-pane windows that let in street noise, and occasional problems with heating and maintenance. The cleanliness of the rooms is generally acceptable, but there have been mentions of minor issues like dust and worn-out fixtures.
In summary, while the Thistle London Bloomsbury Park's central location and friendly staff are significant advantages, potential guests should be aware of the dated facilities and possible noise issues. It's a good option for a short stay in the city if these factors are considered manageable.

I've stayed in the same hotel before though last time I was in a smaller but much quieter room at the back. This time my room overlooked the left side of the hotel and there was a lot of noise in the evening due to restaurants below. However the noise did die down later. I was woken in the night about 4am by a mysterious and really loud scrabbling sound that seemed to be coming from inside a wall....very odd. That went on for a while then stopped. It was a basic but clean room and fine for an overnight stay. I would have liked decaffeinated coffee or hot chocolate sachets offered in the room as well the ones provided. Most hotels I have stayed in supply those as well. The irritation for me was the shower. The hotel warns that it may take a minute for warm water to come through the pipes. I had the shower curtain pulled across and tried turning the switch for the water with my arm around the shower curtain but it was stiff. It took a couple of minutes while wrestling with the shower curtain, that was trying to wrap itself round me, to manage to twist the knob so I was getting the right temperature and until I could finally step into the shower with warm and not cold water. All the while not really being able to see what I was doing well because I had to do it without my glasses on. It might have been comical if i hadn't been on my own! The hotel is an ideal location for what I usually need when I go to London. I didn't want to pay quite a lot extra for a breakfast so I popped out to buy something smaller and much less expensive from a cafe nearby. If I stay again, I will ask for a quieter room. The bed was comfortable but I'd have preferred a nicer duvet. I wasn't cold and had had to turn off the heating in the room, but the thin duvet provided was flimsy so not cosy.

What a pleasure to stay at the Thistle London Bloomsbury Park Hotel location was perfect very close to Holborn Tube station which we used aswell as walking to our premises book theatre and dinner and soho too .as it was my partners birthday treat as it was on the day itself,
As soon as we walked into this beautiful hotel we felt like royalty. We were greeted by the Very well spoken Aisha whom greeted us with her smile spoke so calm and softly made us feel relaxed straight away , upon welcoming us to our first visit along with explaining all you need in relation to where our room was and where the lift to get to it was ,which was perfectly located on the fifth floor, using a great stylish mirrored lift :) .
She very kindly handed me a very lovely personalised postcard of the hotel and also a gift box of complimentary chocolates ,aswell as very kindly offering us late check out the following day if we wished to have a lie in .
AISHA is a credit 🙌 to Thistle and the hotel itself .Breakfast was plenty and tasted lovely which was served at a great time between 7-10am .
The room too was perfect it was very well presented standard double room with complimentary water bottles, biscuits tea and coffee.
All toiletries you'll Need for your stay and most importantly an iron and ironing board already in your room neatly tuck away .
We have decided bow everything we come to London we are choosing The Thistle London Bloomsbury Park Hotel.
Thank you for making our hotel stay special.

I stayed at the Thistle Bloomsbury Hotel for one night this week. I needed a room for 3 people as we took our son to visit family. The hotel itself is on Southampton Row, a busy road with numerous options to eat and drink and crucially very central only a short walk from Russell Square Tube and the British Museum. The hotel itself is not especially modern however, everything is clean and in good order. The room itself was spotless with a large double and also a fold-out bed and although not air-conditioned had a nice fan and a window that could be opened a little so those who like a cool room would feel comfortable.
The beds and linen were spotless and very comfortable and the room was very quiet. Our room had Tea Coffee Kettle and Shortbread biscuits along with Fridge and Water sparkling and still. There is just one lift and this can be rather slow as it is also used for service duty. The stairs are a better option coming down if you are able although if you are on the 6th floor as we were these are a tall order unless fit.
We did not pre-book breakfast (some bookings include this some don't) but we were quoted £18 pounds each so we decided to take a short walk along to Caffè Tropea in Rusell Square gardens just minutes away for a spectacular range of English and continental breakfast options with the best coffees
Anywhere, Macchiato and Cappuccino were fantastic. Also, The Swan just 20 yards away is a perfect little pub.
Finally, all the staff during our visit were kind and courteous and will happily store your bags in a secure room if you arrive early (our room was ready by about 1 pm and they kindly allowed us straight up to the room) or once you check out on the day you leave if you are still planning to enjoy your last hours out and about.
All in all, I would give 5 stars all around except for the lift doing double duty for service and accordingly sometimes slow and the unnecessary 18 pounds if Breakfast is not included in your booking. We certainly would not hesitate to stay again.

I write this still as a guest. Helpful and pleasant desk staff introduce you to a hostel style hotel. A single one person lift will take you to a basic room, expected for the price. So no complaints.
What’s not expected is the absence of housekeeping. Here for an unfortunate 3 nights my room had the bed remade only on night one, but no bins emptied, used coffee cups left, no cleaning of any kind.
So I left the ‘I’Oom out and about please make it pretty again’ hanger on my door, plus a note asking to replace the non working lamp and empty my bins , with a five pound note tip to thank them.
I’ve returned to to an untouched dirty room.
Don’t come here. I mean it. That’s utterly unacceptable.

This was the perfect spot for us as it was equidistant between the train station and the theatre. The number 91 stops nearby. I have stayed in a Thistle before therefore I had an idea of what to expect. The staff were welcoming and helpful. I asked for extra blankets as we like to sleep in a cool room with layers, and someone came up with blankets. I opted to pay for a breakfast when I did the booking and enjoyed a cooked breakfast. The shower was effective with nice products and London water rinses the hair well! There were good, thick towels. If I was going to give a request I would say some de-caff tea and green tea in the room would be refreshing. I appreciated the complementary bottles of water. I would definitely stay again.

Just awful in every way.
The website is actually quite misleading as it looks like there’s restaurant on site which they is, however it’s certainly not operating as a restaurant as it doesn’t do any meals. Breakfast yes, average at best but nothing else.
If you wanted to sit in your room, you can get a choice of 3 pizzas at £15 delivered to your room, or why not treat yourself to a £3.50 mini pot of Pringle’s.
The rooms are dire. So run down. Good luck if you’re facing the main road as you will get zero sleep. Mainly because the rooms do not have double glazing, windows are thin and practically ancient. You get the full traffic noise, plus the sounds of everyone and everything outside till about 4am. Needless to say 3 hour sleep in a cramped room which was completely soulless and very outdated was not worth the £200 price tag.

Brilliant location and fantastic staff! After an issue with our initial room Habib was amazingly helpful and showed me a number of newly renovated rooms on the sixth floor and offered an upgrade at a very reasonable price. The newly renovated rooms are gorgeous, quite roomy for a London hotel and very nicely decorated! Can’t thank Habib enough for making our stay over Christmas so pleasant!
The hotel is close to both tube and bus stations and is within walking distance of the theatre district and Oxford Street. We couldn’t have asked for an easier location!

In room safe was not working (error codes) reported 3 times. Promised maintenance but never arrived or acted upon. Also questioned booking as booked Junior Suite double bed with sofa bed and room seemed small and was a twin with sofa bed. It seems they made a Family room into a suite with an addition of a mini fridge (not plugged in). Lacking the amenities of a suite as there were no bathrobes or slippers or Nespresso machine as described on the website for the category of room. Asked front desk where they were and shrugged shoulders and said probably ran out! Staff disinterested one in particular continued to carry out their personal conversation and totally disregarded me standing there, had to take another member of staff to get their attention and deal with me. All my emails have been ignored so far about my concerns and the amount paid for the booking and what i believe given something else which contravene my Consumer Rights.
On a positive note breakfast was reasonable with no waiting and good location for our needs. If you cannot provide the amenities you describe for the room then you need to inform at check in so a resolution can be agreed upon.
Very poor value for money.
