Detailed Reviews
My mom and I stayed here after a last-minute booking as a result of a bad airbnb experience. We were so happy to find a clean, comfortable room. The staff was friendly and the concierge, Francesco, kindly helped answer questions and recommended the best Indian restaurant (Raj of Kensington). The location was literally steps from the Kensington High Street tube and it was easy to get around. The only 2 issues were that both of our rooms were extremely hot (this was resolved when we let the front desk know and there was a small improvement, but the windows didn’t open, so there was no way to let any fresh air in and heat out). The second issue was that the maid knocked on my bedroom door at 9:00 in the morning asking when we were checking out so she could clean. I was already up, but since check out isn’t until 12:00, it seemed awfully early. We had a voucher for 2 for 1 breakfast at the hotel restaurant and it was decent with a wide variety of foods, but I don’t think it was worth 20 pounds each (our voucher was 2 meals for 20 pounds and it was worth that). In general, this was a nice place to stay and the location can’t be beat.

Stayed in Sept 2020 - as lockdown restrictions were eased
Masks to be worn in all communal areas of hotel, until you are in your room
Rooms are slightly dated. But given the hotel was only £75 for a Saturday night, the rooms are more than adequate.
Breakfast buffet was the standard fry up and toast, croissants. A good offering.
Herbal teas are not out on display, but are given by staff if you request at the bar. Disposable plastic cutlery - presumably to reduce on washing up/germs.
Executive lounge closed which was a shame.
Only slight negative is that the windows in rooms don't open, and the air con was not very powerful. So in warm weather the rooms are very stuffy.

Dear Devon, Thank you for your complimentary review of the Copthorne Tara Hotel following your stay. We are delighted that you were pleased with how the hotel is handling the new guidelines of COVID-19, your comments in regards to the rooms will be provided to the management team for review. We are currently using plastic cutlery due to new guidelines requiring us to use one time use, this is a temporary change only. The windows do not open due to safety measures also, we have asked the maintenance team to have a look at the air-conditioning units in the rooms. Thank you so much for your comments, we highly appreciate it and we hope to welcome you back in the near future! Kind regards, Ben Kim General Manager

Hotel is in a great location 2 minutes walk from Kensington High street tube station.
Rooms a little dated but spacious clean and comfortable.
Ate in the brassiere first evening food was very nice but lots of nice places to eat just minutes away aswell. Breakfast also good plenty of choice.
If your staying more than 1 night and opt for your room not to be cleaned you get a free drinks voucher for the bar which is good.
Check in did take a while but the hotel was very busy.
Was staying on business and was around 40 mins on tube to Canary Wharf but if I was travelling for a weekend away I would stay at the hotel due to location and reasonable price for London just don’t want expect luxury I would probably rate it 3 star rather than 4 and I feel the decor wasn’t typical of an English hotel it was a little strange! But overall a nice stay.

We had a two night stay and realised we had stayed here before a few years ago. The location is good, close to tube station and a nice area to walk round within walking distance of Kensington gardens and the new Design Museum is a short walk away and worth a visit. Our room was spacious and had every amenity including towelling robes, we were at the end of a corridor and it was very quiet and peaceful for such a large hotel. Staff are very helpful, we were offered an upgrade which included access to the Club Lounge for a nominal fee, where we enjoyed complimentary canapés and drinks each evening. Overall very good value.

I have stayed in various hotels in London and the Copthorne Tara Kensington is most certainly the very best.
I travel constantly for business and the hotel from start to finish exceeds all my expectations.
From first arrival the entrance feels grand which leads into a huge well lit and extremely clean lobby and reception with a comfortable lounge area for relaxing.
There are numerous hand sanitizer stations and during covid I noticed on arrival all staff and front of house were wearing masks aswell as guests who wear masks in the lobby areas which made me feel comfortable.
The hotel is extremely clean in all areas.
I particularly enjoy the quietness of the hotel.Just 5 minutes walk from Kensington high street though tucked away from any noise.
The rooms are in my opinion much larger compared to other hotels as I have ample space to work inside the room, large flat screen tv and British made hypnos beds a delight to sleep on.(I had to look at the bed maker!!!!)
All requests for anything needed are handled by reception or room service which always have been there 24/7
The hotel is very well located and during lockdown having hyde park very close by has been very appreciated for daily exercising and jogging.
There is also a large Whole foods superstore close by
I am security conscious and the hotel has a clever system that only allows your room key to activate the lift.
I would recommend the copthorne Tara highly for superb care of its visiting guests and very reasonably priced rooms in an excellent location.
The manager who is Andrei Ticau and his team are always on hand to help and I wish them all the best during the coming years

I stayed at this hotel for business. My boss paid in advance but that caused trouble at check in where I had to stand around and wait whilst this was clarified with the manager somewhere. When I was given the check-in form to fill in it had someone else's email and phone number on it. The attitude at the lady on reception was not the most welcoming but I did eventually get my room. The decor was tired, lampshade wonky, bathroom door paint chipped, really rather drab. It was mostly clean apart from a dusty TV and a hair in the bath. The TV I only manged to turn on by accident. At one point it was asking me to log in, again with names not my own. No idea how it was supposed to work.
The noise is the worst part of this hotel, you can turn off the noisy fridge and air con system (which dries you out all night so you're gasping for fresh air come morning) but you can't change the fact it's on top of a tube line or that for some reason the corridor seems like a wind tunnel and air whistles past the door in its frame. The rooms were not very soundproof. My neighbours were talking from 4am so I couldn't sleep. I asked reception for earplugs to no avail but they did say they could call up and ask them to be quieter. I felt bad as they weren't being particularly rowdy, just talking but the walls weren't doing anything to stop the sound carrying. Cleaners were banging on doors at 8am saying "room service!" and I couldn't tell if they were banging on my door or not because everything sounds so close. I ended up putting the chain across because I was worried they were going to come in while I was in the middle of getting dressed.
Plus points are the shower was decent enough, the bed was comfortable and the location is useful but otherwise, I'll be making sure my boss lets me book my own hotels in future.

Stayed here for two nights as a treat for my birthday and we had a wonderful time. Location is fantastic just a five minute walk to Kensington High Street and the tube station and there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. We were upgraded to a club room which included a complimentary breakfast which was lovely with plenty of choice and everything was spotlessly clean which was important to us with regard to the Covid situation. There is on site parking which costs £29 per 24hrs which we thought was reasonable for central London and the hotel was just outside the congestion charge zone which was a plus for us. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and we would definitely recommend.

Upgraded from standard to a club room for less than £30, which gives breakfast, an hour and a half of certain free beer/wines in the evening with canapés and use of a club lounge with hot and cold drinks and newspapers all day. This is very busy on a weekend. bedroom was very pleasant, on higher floors, good lifts and several of them. Very well located, easy distance to shopping/restaurants, good staff, clean, excellent value for money, but not a luxury experience, a very large hotel that caters for coaches that use for package tours, would recommend for good, convenient and value for money break.

+1
I do appreciate that Covid restrictions are necessary BUT this does not excuse waiting 25 minutes outside the restaurant and then 55 minutes at a table before any breakfast arrives. Our order was lost even though we were assured when we checked after 20 minutes and after 30 minutes that they had our order and it was coming soon. I then checked again at 40 minutes and insisted on knowing exactly how much longer it would be, staff did finally look for the order, failed to find it and we were then asked to fill out new order forms.
Mistakes can be made but if people ask how long it will be as many behind us in the queue were already eating, staff really do need to check and not lie that everything is fine.
Many tables were piled high with dirty plates so could not be used. No attempt was made to make those in the queue wear masks. The staffing level is simply not adequate for the system in place. And I don’t mind plastic cutlery but really, this is very cheap bendy cutlery that’s hard to use and breaks, so take your own.
The club room is a reasonable size but the glazing is poor so even 11 floors up, there is noise from the trains below. The windows are also dirty.
So, excellent location and excellent value. Take your own cutlery. And do either allow plenty of time for the massively overworked staff to produce breakfast, or simply eat out if you value your time.

On arrival, checking in was slow and I still had to fill in a form on arrival. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from Kensington High Street tube station and bus stops.
Our room (Superior) wasn’t ready on checking at 3 p.m so we had a complimentary upgrade to a Club room - it didn’t include breakfast but was supposedly on a higher floor with a complimentary bottle of water, we asked for extra pillows at check in and they arrived at our room some 10 minutes later. Due to Covid measures, rooms were only cleaned on request after 3 days for stays of 4 nights or more. It was impossible to get through to reception on the several occasions we tried.
The rooms are a decent size for London and the beds are comfortable. There is air conditioning which has individual controls and a fridge which is sufficient to hold a few bottles of water etc. We had views over the trees so we could see the roof of the Royal Albert Hall and the Post Office Tower as well as the railway line below. There was some noise from the trains but it didn’t disturb us.
We didn’t eat in the hotel so can’t comment on the food. There is a luggage storage facility for people with later journeys home after checkout time. A taxi rank is a minutes walk away. If the hotel does a similar offer again, we would certainly visit again as it was excellent value for money - cheaper than many of the central London Travelodges who were offering 5 nights for the price of 4.

The Albert Hall is Close by and have wonderful concerts from time to time. The West End is easily accessible by Kensington High Street Tube Station. The hotel is in a very central location and it is easy to walk around London's sights from it.
Don't bother, we saw left over takeaway bags in the corridor
for a
couple of days! and what ever you do do not use the Brasserie
Bar, they don't serve single measures you will get and charged for doubles.
Went by train
I cannot recommend this hotel for so many reasons that it would take more space than allowed here.
There are other hotels in the area such as the Holiday Inn. I encourage you to check them out.
