South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.

Except for the location, there is no reason to stay in this hotel. The rooms are old, dirty, badly furnished. Not even a bottle of water in the room, no safe, no water pressure. The staff at reception can barely speak English. Room services trays stayed in the corridor for a few days before being removed. Just disgusting

The location is perfect (about 2 kilometers from Stamford Bridge and a 200-300 meters walk to Glucester Road Subway station), the hotel is rather big and the upper floor rooms comes with a beautiful view over London (if You're lucky as we were you might just get a room with view over Stamford Bridge). The breakfast buffet is good and the hotel lobby bar (the Ashburn SW7 Restaurant) and restaurant is very nice. The rooms are tidy and I really liked the fact that the room had a small fridge. The Fitness room is small but ok for a quick work out. Wi-fi worked just fine.

We a group of 36 Government of India Officers were checked in on 6.2.2020 for foreign training component of 61st Level E training of ISTM organized by Civil Service College, London.I was stayed in Room no. 1901. On 8.2.2020 when we were in training class from 9 to 5 pm, hotel staff broke opened our bags in the respective rooms and stole away cash of as many as 4 persons including mine. Reporting the event to the organiser i.e. CSC, London and hotel staff turned to be blind eyes. Due to shortage of time, it was not appropriate for us to call police and report the incidence. Prospective guest checking in in the hotel should be beware.

I hadn’t stayed here for a while so I was impressed with the makeover of the reception area and restaurant. Unfortunately it didn’t carry through to the room which was unchanged, small, very tired and noisy even on the 19th floor. The bed was hard. The pillows were thin and unsupportive. I hardly slept and had a sore back when I left. During the winter months, the AC is set to heat. It is impossible to cool the room down without opening the window but the noise from the street means you can’t sleep with it open. The bathroom is tiny, so small it has a sliding door. There were very few power sockets and none near the bed. The Tavern Pub is unchanged, still dark, dingy, noisy and expensive.

This hotel is a bit shabby and starting to need a renovation. Everything is a bit worn out. Poor cleaning makes the issue a bit worse. I made the mistake of closing the sliding door to the bathroom and dust balls rolled out from behind it. Also the bath mat stored under the sink was covered in something sticky and dusty. Not nice. On a positive note, the bed and pillows were good, firm and clean. Despite the noice of the train track on the side of the hotel my room was in, I actually slept well. The breakfast was a buffee with some a la carte options. Basic and good enough for me. Also not too crowded at 7am.
