With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.

Spent a night here earlier this week for work - our first rooms were disgusting, my colleague had to clean things before putting their bag on the side. My room was dirty, but smelt as if it was old, musty and full of mould. Reception dealt with our complaint and gave us new rooms which were supposedly upgraded. They were cleaner, but half the size but to our horror my colleague found a life cockroach in their bath. This is not a 4 star hotel and I would not recommend it to anyone.

This is a beautiful hotel and I would recommend it. However, it's best feature in my opinion was a specific employee. Although all the staff was friendly and nice....I enjoyed my tea times with Hussein most of all. He is fabulous with a love for what he does and for the people he meets. Every day was calm and relaxing when I was under his care. I wish I could pack him up and take him home with me. He is a treasure.

Staff was helpful, room was spacious and clean but the bathroom needed a face lift, especially the tiles. Right across from the Tube which made it super easy to get around. Breakfast had a lot of variety.

Dear pjhmusic It is wonderful to know that you had experienced an overall enjoyable stay and that we had met your expectations in several areas, especially with the hotel staff, breakfast, and location. I really appreciate your feedback on areas that can be improved; which I have shared with the relevant management. Thank you for your comments and I hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future. Yours sincerely, Chris Van Dam General Manager

Perfect for a weekend in London. Rooms are quite big and spacious. Good breakfast! The staff , especially Florinda , were very helpful when something went wrong with my booking via the app. Thank you so much! We will return next November !

I can't say enough bad about this place. Nothing was good about it. The staff tried to overcharge for a room upgrade, the breakfast were overcrowded, and worst of all the hotel did not have functioning Air Conditioning. Really? Some people changed room 4 times to find one that was close to habitable. They brought in portable plug in AC units that when on sounded like a 747 was in the room with you. Several of the electrical outlets had broken pieces in them so you couldn't use them, You had to change electricals in the one and only plug that worked.

Dear Pete Z Thank you for your feedback. It was very disappointing to know that we fell below our usual standards in more than one area and that maintenance issues were not rectified at the time; this has now been addressed with those concerned, and I am pleased you brought the matter to my attention. I am sorry for the air-conditioning issues you had experienced; I can appreciate how uncomfortable this was for you. Regrettably, we had an unforeseen incident with the air-con system and had our engineering team working round the clock to ensure that this could be resolved as swiftly as possible but, unfortunately, it had taken longer than we had anticipated. My apologies for not meeting your expectations on this occasion and I trust that the future will give us a chance to restore your faith in the hotel. Yours sincerely, Chris Van Dam General Manager
